Casual (Chic) Friday | Fall Style

Fall and blazers go together like peanut butter and jelly.  They’re the perfect layer on a crisp autumn morning when it’s too cool for a cardigan and not quite cool enough for a jacket.

They also possess the power to take your favorite casual Friday look up a notch to casual chic.  Try topping off your button down and jeans with a blazer to transform your entire look.

A tan or camel blazer is an incredibly versatile wardrobe basic that works with so many looks.  The rest of this outfit works because the oxford is a lighter shade than the jeans, the leopard belt add just the right amount of interest and the bright flats bring a pop of color to the party.  If you’re 100% opposed to blazers then swap it out for a neutral cardigan to take it to a more casual level, yet still look perfectly put together.

  1. I’m jealous of those who can find blazers to fit. They never fit comfortably through my shoulders. If they do fit there then they are enormous everywhere else.

    1. You can get blazers tailored for your unique shape. I also have a hard time finding ones that don’t constrict the top while still fitting elsewhere.

  2. I LOVE it when I already have everything to recreate an outfit you post! I may pretend it’s Fall again today and put this one together!

  3. Any suggestions for practical yet stylish shoes ? My feet don’t stay in ballet type flats and I can’t walk in them.

    1. Hi Patricia! Many of the girls in the fall style challenge have been able to find comfortable flats that stay on their feet. Some of the brands they love are Aerosoles and Dexflex found at Payless. You may want to try an oxford style flat too that laces up.

  4. I love the look!!! But how do you feel it would look on a 64 year old (youthful) senior citizen? I don’t want to look like I’m trying to be a 20 year old again. Be honest…I can take it

    1. Hi Jan! I think it would look fabulous on you! You should be in the style challenge group, there are so many women your age in there. We are discussing this outfit on a thread right now. Some of the women thought the red shoes were out of their comfort zone but were wiling to try it out. All of these pieces are classics and ageless so I think it would look great!

  5. Blazers are my go to look for fall because I’m always cold! I love how you paired it with the blue oxford here. Have a wonderful weekend!
