Daily Style Diary | Entry Two

Casual Mom Outfits

Wow, thank you so much for the overwhelmingly positive response to my daily style pics!  It’s been fun documenting them on Instagram and sharing them here.  I’m glad you like them.

A lot of you have asked what I’m wearing, so I’m going to start providing links to same or similar items under each outfit.  Some pieces are last season or older but I’ll try my best to find suitable substitutes.

Without further ado, here are last week’s outfit entries into my Daily Style Diary.

Day One

A pleasant day in the 70’s!  I wore a sheer polka dot blouse with a layering tank, my favorite skinny jeans from Forever 21 and leopard print flats to run errands.

Day Two

Brr, it got cold quickly.  For lunch with a friend, I wore this gray and cream sweater with a layering tank, plum coated denim skinnies and a long tassel necklace.

Day Three

An afternoon at the horse barn called for a long sleeved tee, boyfriend cardigan, gray skinny jeans and Hunter Wellies.  I wore the necklace to run errands but took it off before we went to the barn.  Ava was so happy that I wore appropriate footwear for chasing horses in the pasture.  I was too.  🙂

Day Four

Awards assembly at the elementary school.  Gray cashmere sweater, white button down, blush jeans, statement necklace and riding boots.

Day Five

Took Chick-fil-a lunches to both of the girls at school.  I wore my new beige sweater from Scissortail Clothing and scarf from Bindya NY with my favorite Paige jeans.

Life Lately

Life Lately Week One

Some snippets from our daily life.

  • Still waiting to hear back from Devon’s first choice college.  He’s gotten two acceptances so far and has a perfectly fine back-up plan…that’s also closer to home.  🙂  But it’s nerve wracking to check the mail every day.  Tom Petty was right, the waiting IS the hardest part.
  • Ava got three semester awards last week – one for A/B  honor roll, one for Stellar Scientist and one for helping out in the office.  Super proud of her!
  • We’ve been trying to eat cleaner this past week.  For the most part, it’s been OK but now I’m starting to feel like I will rip someone’s head off if I don’t get some Mexican food!
  • Bailey, our golden retriever, got a trip to Petsmart for a shave down, nail trimming and teeth cleaning.  She also got a big pink bow when she was all done.  Good girl.

  1. I like the daily looks posts Alison! It really gives me some great ideas for easy to copy outfits! It sounds like your kiddos are doing well(: They sure are cute! Have a great week! I dont think we will see temps in the 70s for months! It is minus 15 here today! Susan

  2. What’s your secret for getting your white button down to look so smooth under your sweater? When I wear mine like that it feels (and looks!) so bulky to me:) Looking good, Alison!

    1. I don’t know what her secret is, but here is one that works for me…put on a cami/tank OVER the button down. Then put your sweater on over the shirt and tank…makes it much more smooth.

      1. Hi Karen! Great tip, I never thought about doing that. My button down made the difference with this shirt. It’s pretty fitted so there’s not a lot of extra bulk. Plus it has a longer tail so it stays tucked in.

    2. Hi Kelly! It’s the button down itself that makes the difference. This one is kind of fitted throughout and has a longer tail. So there’s not as much bulk and it stays tucked in. Hope that helps!

  3. Such cute daily, casual outfits. I still live in the dark ages and don’t own a smart phone so I don’t do instagram and therefore appreciate you posting them here too. Nothing much going on here, except were all trying to stay warm with the extreme cold temperatures. All our state’s schools are closed for the next two days just because of the cold.

  4. Love your daily looks. We have SO many gray, cold days in winter, where I don’t go out, that I have been staying in my pajamas and a sweater! Sad, I know. I got motivated to put some skinny jeans on and a cute sweater even though I was just staying in. Know what? I felt better and actually became productive! lol Thanks. I’ve been inspired. 😉

  5. Still loving those blush jeans! Wore mine last week with a navy chambray top and my dark brown riding boots. 🙂 And we still have not gotten any acceptance letters….. can’t stand waiting!

  6. I’m loving all your daily looks. You really take casual style up a notch and always look so put together. You are such a pro at layering!

  7. I hear you on the Mexican food. 🙂 You look sooo good every.single.day! I continue to be inspired, yesterday I wore my yoga pants all day. Today I will do better!

  8. These daily style/life posts are fun! Congrats to your daughter! That colorful scarf is so pretty and I love the grey/blush combo. Have a great day!
