I Feel Pretty | Carefree

Color Block Maxi Dress Gray

Ahh, summer.  Is it just me or is everything easier this time of year?

Even getting dressed seems easier.  Instead of worrying about layering or accessorizing, you can make an outfit out of one simple piece – a dress.  It doesn’t get any more carefree than that.

Maxi dresses are my wardrobe’s best friend this time of year.  Throw one on with a pair of sandals and some earrings and you’re ready for just about anything.  Now that’s my kind of outfit.

I bought this maxi dress last year before our anniversary trip to Mexico.  It combines two of my favorites – the color coral and color blocking.

  • I am a huge fan of maxi dresses! They are so easy to throw on and so comfortable 🙂

  • I signed up. Thanks! I love dresses.

  • Ok, I’m loving that maxi but can we talk about your strapless bra? Where did you get it! You look fab. Everytime I have one on I’m either pulling it up or adjusting it because, dammit, these girls need some strap support!

  • Wow you rock that color blocked maxi dress Alison…..so glam!!!

  • That dress looks so pretty on you. I am jealous of people that can wear dresses without straps. Aren’t you ever worried you might accidentally step on your dress while walking and pull it down leaving yourself exposed? That is not the reason why I can’t wear that type of dress…but the thought has crossed my mind : )

    • Alison

LOL! Yes, Suzanne, that thought has crossed my mind a few times. 🙂 I always wear a tight fitting strapless bra under it to mitigate any wardrobe malfunctions.

  • Wow, that is a super awesome way to shop for dresses! I’m hooked.

  • Love this dress and the detail on the bottom is fab! So pretty! Thanks for the link up!

  • I just discovered your blog and I love your style. This maxi is so nice, I have a hard time finding some that I actually want to wear but this is a winner.

  • Maxis are the ultimate go-to dress for moms. I swear. You can do everything in them without flashing people and you still look put together!

  • What a great dress, I love the simplicity of summer too! What a great site, I love the pick your color aspect.

  • Coral is really your colour, Alison and your dress is gorgeous.

The Dress Spot is a fantastic site for me as I am a dress lover. I already spent (too much) time there and will go back again to select my favourite dress which is difficult enough… The colour palette is unique!

  • The Dress Spot looks really cool! It’ll be a nice alternative to Polyvore when I try to look for similar items to link in my outfit posts.

  • I like your maxi dress and the pastel colorblock dress as well. Cute! Summer dressing is easier but not that much since I can’t wear anything I want to work. 🙂

  • Oh that dress is just perfect for summer! Love how you paired it with those pretty earrings. 🙂

  • I’ve never had the guts to actually wear a maxi dress! I don’t know why. I bought one a couple years ago and it sat in my closet so long that I finally got rid of it! But now I feel like maybe I should give the maxi another try again. I guess I just never know what the appropriate occasion is to where on to.

The Dress Spot sounds like a cool website! I’ll definitely have to check it out!

  • Love that maxi on you! Looks comfy AND cute…winning combo!! xo

So cute. And sort of a like a little surprise on the bottom. I’m a shorty and have been trying to find a maxi skirt or dress that I don’t have to get hemmed. I ended up finding a cute high/low dress at target and looking forward to wearing it. I’m trying to figure out if it’s ok to wear to my office where the dress code is business casual. Love the white nail polish!

  • That dress is gorgeous…I love, love, love the bottom!

  • LOVE those maxis, but not sure if I’m too old for them or not??!! 🙂 Happy Friday and Happy Summer!

  • Amazing dress!!

Adorable maxi dress! I also love wearing them! In fact, I wore one in my latest outfit post. I’ve never owned a color-block dress, but maybe I’ll see one and decide to stretch my horizons one of these times. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

  • Nope… it’s just you. While you look absolutely adorable in your easy and extremely pretty outfit, I have to work so much harder in summer to look better than wilted and melted. It’s winter when I can just throw anything on and make unconscious choices … summer is full of fashion pot-holes for me to fall into. But that’s okay … it’s your time to be carefree with your family and friends, and as naturally as lovely as you are, it will be that way for a long time to come. Enjoy and know we enjoy seeing all your choices!

I’ve been out of town & am behind on my blog-reading, but just saw this and love the maxi!! But as another person commented, I love the strapless bra even more!!! I don’t wear anything strapless b/c I cannot find a bra that works for me – I’d love it if you’d share where you got yours!!
