Valentine’s Outfits for a Date Night Out or Cozy Night In

by Jessica Pigza

All you need is love….and maybe a new top.

Just like any holiday, Valentine’s Day can be celebrated in many different ways. For some, it’s a big night out while for other’s it means a cozy night in. No matter how you celebrate it, it’s fun to add something new to your closet mix. With that said, I’ve put together some fun tops to help amp up your outfit regardless of what your night might hold.

One New Top + Closet Staples = Fun New Outfit

Remember, you don’t need to run out and buy a whole new head-to-toe outfit every time you have an event or big night out. Just adding a new top with your heels or accessories are enough to give you a whole new look! That is why having a good base of closet staples is key. If you need help perfecting your closet staples, check out Alison’s list here!

Fancy Night Out

I know for some of us February does not make one think of tank tops or short sleeved shirts, but the below tops pair perfectly with a moto jacket, black cardigan or even a blazer. Keep it dressy by wearing your dark wash skinny jeans, gray jeans, pencil skirt or black cigarette pants and finish off with some heels.

H&M Plum Sequin Top / Nordstrom City Chic One-Shoulder

Something More Casual

These shirts can easily go casual or dressy depending on your accessories. If a more casual look is what you’re after try one of these shirts paired with your dark wash jeans (skinny or bootcut) and your favorite pair of booties. If you want to go more glam, pair them up with a statement necklace and some heels.

Old Navy Coral Boat-Neck Top / J.Crew Factory Gray Flare-Sleeve Sweater /
Black Heart Knit Sweater / H&M Black V-Neck Blouse with Hearts

Even More Casual

These tops are very versatile as they pair well with a pair of dark wash jeans and some slip-ons or a comfy pair of pajama pants. Add your favorite button-down plaid shirt for some extra pop! Sometimes the best Valentines are spent with some awesome takeout and a great movie from the comforts of your couch.

Gray Cursive Love Tee / Target Kiss Me Pajamas

Truth be told, I’m not really that into Valentine’s Day. Even before I had kids the day was usually pretty low key and now with kids, it’s even more so. I’m blessed that I’ll be able to spend the day with my family. The plan is to enjoy some dinner in. Then after the kids are in bed, my husband and I will cozy up on the couch with a good movie and I do believe I’ll be rocking the Kiss Me pajamas from Target.

Your turn! Do you like to go out on the town or stay in on Valentine’s Day? Which top can you see adding to your closet?
