I Feel Pretty | In Transition

Maxi Dress Summer and Fall

It’s fun to dress for fall.  No more tank tops and shorts, fall is full on real outfit time!  Everywhere I look in the fashion and blogging world, I’m already seeing fall transitional pieces and outfits.  And while I’d love to say that I’ve started working on my own fall transitional wardrobe, I’m not.  It’s still just too darn hot here to even think about it here.

But when I got this maxi dress last week from Lime Street Fashion, I thought it would be a perfect piece to experiment with a transition into fall.   As you already know, maxi dresses are one of my obsessions.  They are just so easy to wear for almost all of my mom activities.  I wore one grocery shopping yesterday!

Lime Street Fashion speaks my kind of language.  They are an online retailer that provides stylish and trendy clothing that holds up to the demands of everyday life.  The owners, Katie and Tiffany, are busy moms too.  They do their best to provide outfits for other busy moms who want to look stylish and feel comfortable so you can live your life and look fabulous doing it.

This beautiful “Andi” maxi dress is one in their collection.  And a perfect one to test out the seasonal versatility of this wardrobe workhorse.

Fall

For my fall transition, I layered on a denim shirt and added riding boots.  I like the slightly southwest vibe of this look.

  • This dress is simply amazing, love the print. You are glowing.

  • You transitioned this dress nicely! I love it both ways and the colors are really pretty 🙂

  • Lori S H

Wow! That’s a great dress and the prices are incredible!

  • You should live in a maxi. You should never ever ever take it off. And I love it with the denim shirt. So cute!

I love how you’ve styled your maxi for Fall. I have one I can do that with too! I’ve been looking at the selection at Lime Street. I think the Jessica Tunic and the Sarah Shirt would be a fantastic transition pieces. And, I ADORE the Piper Maxi Dress! Cute clothes and great prices!

  • Such a gorgeous dress! I love the print and the cut is so flattering!

  • So pretty, Alison! How tall are you, this maxi looks like it hits you perfectly, I always worry they’ll be too long on me, so I fear ordering.
    Ginny

  • I love the Daphne maxi and the pattern of the Stephanie dress is so pretty! I love the way you transitioned your maxi from summer to fall. I can’t wait to try something similar!

  • Johanna

The dress is beautiful and you look great!

  • Love the dress (and I really love the fall option with boots)!

  • I like the Bethany Belted dress and also the Stephanie dress. The Sophia Ruffle is cute but not really for me. I like the Daphne too but that is another that I don’t think would look right on me.

FYI – The Pinterest link didn’t work for me… I had to go to their site to follow. Maybe it’s just my end? But I thought I’d mention it.

  • Seriously…You are just ADORABLE x10000000000000! I love both looks so, so much and on a sidenote, I absolutely adore your hair!

    xoxoxoxox! 🙂

  • What a pretty maxi dress! It doesn’t start to get hot here in Southern CA until Sept/Oct so I will be wearing shorts for some time. But the nights do get pretty chilly so if we do something at night is when I can wear some transitional pieces.

  • Lisa

It took me about 30 seconds from the time I hopped on your website to click over to Lime Street and order the dress you’re wearing. It wil be perfect for the start of school.

  • Love this! This is exactly what I plan on doing with 99% of my wardrobe…since I can’t buy any new pieces anyways! Boots and dresses are always a hit 🙂

Alison, you look so gorgeous in that maxi dress. Those colours look so good with your skin tone and hair colour. I dont want the fall to come yet hehe 🙂

  • What a great maxi! For more warmth you could also switch out the chambray for a denim jacket and maybe even add a scarf. 🙂

  • I absolutely adore that maxi you’re wearing!! And guess what?! I finally bought my first maxi! I had to buy it from eBay because it was sold out online, and all they had left on eBay was a “tall” size. But I think it’ll work for me since I am tall. Plus, it’s the type of maxi that can be folded to be worn as a skirt, too. I think it’s only 2″ longer than the regular size anyway. But I’m so excited to get it! I plan to wear it with my denim jacket when the weather cools down. I had never thought to pair it with boots like you did! I love that look!! Can’t wait to check out all the gorgeous dresses at Lime Street Fashion, too!

  • Veloria in Velvet

Such a pretty maxi…loving the chevron print. I’m a huge fan of tying a chambray over any outfit…such a great look!

  • Cute maxi dress! Love the look of the layered chambray shirt too. It’s hard to believe it’s already fall preview time, but admittedly I don’t mind as I love fall fashion! 🙂

  • I don’t even want to think about autumn yet but I certainly love your dress paired with the denim jacket.
    Great look.

  • I adore this maxi
The style and color are great
I started embracing the button up over the maxi this summer
    I love the look
    Brett

  • Love this maxi dress so much! Love the colors – just perfect for summer!

  • Love this idea. I’m not buying anything strictly summer anymore because I’m already thinking fall – that happened right when the kids’ school supply lists came out. 🙂 I always think of maxi dresses as summer but it’s true they’re perfect for fall too.

  • Claudia Wagner

l absolutely love that chevron dress, it’s so pretty!

  • Teresa

Just found your site..Love both looks! Love Maxi’s!

  • Just found your blog through a link up from another blogger! Love your sense of style 🙂 Following you on Bloglovin’ now!

  • I love how you transitioned your maxi for fall- I do the same thing with a jean jacket, but am still working to find the perfect shoes to go with my dress, since flip flops don’t exactly scream autumn.
    Have a great weekend!

  • Krystal

I would definitely buy a maxi dress…I love that they can be worn in different seasons!

  • haha I love that you said fall is “real outfit” time. I totally agree! I find footwear tricky with a maxi for the fall, I see you did choose a closed-toe shoe and it looks good. I may have to rethink my maxis for fall situation.
