Payday Pretty | Date Night Dressing

Payday Pretty | Date Night Dressing

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, I’ve got cute date night looks on the brain.  Hubby and I are pretty good about scheduling regular date nights.  But they are usually to casual neighborhood eateries so I don’t make much effort in the outfit department.

But I do try a little harder for special occasions and our annual Valentine’s dinner out is one of them.  It’s hard to justify buying a whole new outfit for just one night out. So I try to work with basics that I already own to create a special look.

This week, I decided to challenge myself to create some looks built on items that you and I probably already have in our closets.

Getting my pretty on with Aloha Friday, Friday’s Fancies

Payday Pretty | Valentine’s Me-gifting

Payday Pretty | Valentine’s Me-gifting

Payday Pretty is my regular Friday feature where I encourage women to take a little out of the weekly budget to do something that makes you feel pretty.  I also provide little pieces of inspiration each week.

I’m sure you’ve heard of re-gifting but have you ever heard of me-gifting?  Even if you haven’t, you may already be doing it.  See definition below:

Me-gifting (verb) – Buying gifts for oneself while out shopping for others.  Me-gifting often occurs during major shopping holidays such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day.

I don’t know about you but I’ve got Valentine’s Day on the brain already.  And while browsing for gifts for others, I’ve run across a whole lotta little things I’d love to snag for myself.  Me-gifting lies at the heart of Payday Pretty, after all.   It’s all about buying little things for yourself that make you feel good, even if you are supposed to be out shopping for someone else.  🙂  Yes, that’s my justification.

Here are some of the pretty little me gifts that caught my eye.

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, if you’re one of my Facebook fans then you may recall that last week I posted a picture of a Helzberg Diamonds gift box. And you’ll probably also remember that I said someone was going to win what’s inside that box.

Today I have the honor of introducing you to the Helzberg Diamonds INFINITY X INFINITY collection.

This collection is inspired by ABC’s hit TV show “Revenge,” and intended to celebrate all kinds of love – from romantic to unconditional. Now you can bring some sparkle home and take a cue from lead character Emily Thorne and her father’s mantra, “I love you infinity times infinity” this Valentine’s Day. Created by award-winning jewelry designer Udi Behr, the collection emphasizes the double infinity insignia, symbolizing infinite love throughout the series. The best part? With 21 pieces ranging in price from $49.99 to $999.99, the INFINITY X INFINITY jewelry collection offers the perfect gift on any budget this Valentine’s Day. It is available now at helzberg.com/infinity and in Helzberg Diamonds’ stores nationwide.

And now for the good stuff..the giveaway!

One lucky reader is going to win this gorgeous Infinity Collection diamond necklace!

Just pick any (or all) of the easy ways to enter below!  A winner will be drawn next Friday, February 1st.

Good luck!

Payday Pretty | Sole Society

Payday Pretty | Sole Society

Payday Pretty is my regular Friday feature where I challenge women to squeeze a little out of the weekly budget and do something pretty for themselves. I also provide affordable style inspiration for you to get your shop on.

Hello pretties and TGIF!  I was sad to see the BYOB series come to an end, but never fear, I have more fun in store for 2013.

Recently I was introduced to a new online shoe retailer called Sole Society. Sole Society is a members’ only web site (membership is free) offering on-trend styles at amazing prices.

So this is how it works.  1.  You sign up for free.  2.  You get great shoes at incredible prices.

Basically they are able to cut out the two times price markup traditional retailers typically apply to shoes by skipping the middle man (retail stores) and selling direct to their members.

Oh and better yet, they are partners with two of my faves – Vince Camuto and Nordstrom.   Together they design an exclusive line of shoes and accessories and deliver them to Sole Society members with free shipping both ways – all without the high price tag.

As a recipient of an Influenster Vox Box, I received a special offer of $25 off my first purchase.  So, I thought why not try them out?

There were so many great choices, I had a hard time picking just one pair.  So I got two.  🙂

This ankle strap color block heel.

[Francesca – $49.95]

And these fun leopard flats.

Vida

[Vida – $49.95]

With my $25 off coupon and free shipping, I got two pairs of shoes for what I’d normally spend on one!

And I have a few more pairs on my wish list already…

Like these snakeskin platform pumps.

Lana

[Lana – $49.95]

These adorable wedges.

Sharon

[Sharon – $49.95]

And these suede chunky heels.

Cleo

[Cleo – $59.95]

Do you want a pair too?  You know you do!

Well I have a special treat just for you.  Sole Society is extending a $25 off coupon to all of my readers!  All you have to do is enter coupon code INFLUENSTER25 at check out.  But hurry, this code expires on January 31st, 2013.

This coupon makes most of their shoes just $25! Totally Payday Pretty approved.

Happy shopping and be sure to show me what you get!

Stay pretty,

Alison

Payday Pretty Loot | $20 Holiday LBD

Payday Pretty Loot | $20 Holiday LBD

Even though I go to a few holiday parties each year, I REALLY resent buying dress-up clothes that can only be worn a time or two.  But when my hubby sprang the news that his company holiday party is THIS weekend (thanks for the warning!), I had to run out and find something to wear.  What a perfect opportunity to take the Payday Pretty challenge to create a $20 holiday look.  Thanks hubs!

So naturally I set out to my favorite inexpensive dress store, Ross.  They always have a great selection and it’s pretty easy to find something under $20 that doesn’t look cheap or sleezy.  Of which I’d prefer to look neither.  But if I had to pick one, it would be cheap…I think.  🙂

I  wasn’t too far into the dress rack when I stumbled across this awesome LBD  for just $19.99.  And who couldn’t use another LBD?  I tried it on and it fit like a glove.  Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

This sweet bow back detail is what really sealed the deal!

[Dress:  Ross – $19.99 (Similar)]

Usually I post my Payday Pretty outfit pics on Wednesday but this week I’m going to hold off until next Monday.  Then I can post pics taken before the actual event on Saturday.

And here’s some affordable LBD inspiration!

 Walter Baker LBD – $19.43

1.  Motel Black Velvet Dress – $18/2.  ModCloth A Little Reflect – $45.99/3.  ModCloth You’ve Got Sultry – $21.99/4.  Avenue Plus Size Knot Detail – $39.96/5.  Milanoo Black Floral LBD – $35.99

Have you entered the Payday Pretty Challenge Giveaway yet?

I’m giving away $100 in Target gift cards – $20 each Friday for the next five weeks!   All you have to do is take $20 out of the weekly budget to do something pretty for yourself and then show me what you got. Sound like fun?  Oh, it is!

BYOB – Build Your Outfit Basics

Week One – Dark Wash Skinny Jeans

There is possibly nothing more universally flattering on every woman than a perfect fitting pair of dark wash skinny jeans with some stretch.  They are slimming, forgiving and seem to hold everything in place just right.  I literally live in mine.  Every woman needs to have a pair of these in her wardrobe arsenal!

I REALLY hesitated to make all of the $20 and under jean inspirations from Forever 21 but then I caved.  After all, I have a whole closet full of their dark wash skinny jeans so I’m a believer.  And they fit the $20 and under budget so perfectly, some are only $10 a pair!  No, they aren’t the highest quality jeans on the market but they are pretty darn well made for the price.  They keep their color wash after wash, never stretch out and are true to fit which is more than I can say for some premium denim (I won’t name any names).  I also love the rise, not too high, not too low (no butt cleavage!). Forever 21 offers a wide variety of fits from petite to plus size, high waisted to classic fit.  There’s something to fit every body type.  The jeans below range in price from $10-$20.

Skinny Jeans for Every Body

High Waisted – $20/Alison’s Fave – $10.80/Classic Fit – $10.80/Plus Size – $13.50/Petite – $10.80

If you happen to pick up a pair of these this week, tell me about it!  I can’t wait to see all of your Payday Pretty finds. OH, one more thing before I go, I’ll be drawing 25 winnners for my Firmoo eyewear giveaway on Monday.  It’s a low entry giveaway so if you haven’t entered yet, you still have time to do it here! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Stay pretty, my friends!
