The Next Thing You Need | Faux Fur Coat

The cold and holiday season truly is the most joyous time of the year, it give us the opportunity to cocoon ourselves in a plush faux fur coat. Any occasion that gives us the chance to incorporate cozy and glamour together is what I would call the best kind of chilly day!

Fur coats have been stylish for centuries among fashion icons because of their ability to pull together different textures and compliment any outfit while adding that flawless chic feel. Get fancy this winter season, slip into a faux fur coat of your choice, your style options are endless.

  • I have always wanted a faux fur jacket, but we live in a very small town and I have always been afraid it would be too dressy. I love how you paired it with denim for a casual look. I really think I need one now(: Merry Christmas! Susan

    • I love that faux fur coat style too! Happy shopping and happy holidays! 😉

  • Lori

Last year I bought a black, faux Persian lamb knee length coat and I LOVE it! It feels so luxurious! I wear it mostly when I’m dressed up, but may try it a little more casual. Your pics are great inspiration!

    • Thanks Lori! Glad you liked the inspiration photos! Happy holidays!

  • Why do I not have a faux fur coat????? I obviously need to remedy this immediately!

    • Happy shopping girl! 😉

  • I’ve been hesitant to try the trend, but this post might have just convinced me!

    • What!? Must try it Sheaffer. 😉

  • My favorite is the first picture. I love the mix of casual with a fancy fur. That is how I would wear one.

Late this summer I somehow became convinced that a particular leopard-print faux fur coat from LOFT was an absolute necessity for me. I schemed and saved and splurged on it in early September, when it was still around 100 degrees here in Texas. I dreamed up all kinds of outfits (thanks, Pinterest!) and was sure this was going to be my new wardrobe staple. Fast forward to mid-December, when I have worn this item exactly one time, and did not feel like myself while wearing it. I love the inspiration photos you’ve posted, and hope I can revisit this piece with new ideas and perhaps work it into regular wardrobe rotation, but I would caution all your readers not to buy something you see on a blog just because it looks cool on someone else! I have never worn animal prints and buyinga coat in leopard was a major mistake for me. Now think something like the first or third photos you posted would be more my style. Maybe I can unload mine on eBay and find one that’s more “me.” Seeing the variety of looks you posted really helps – thanks for this great post!

    • Angie, i’m so pleased that you liked the variety of looks! There’s lots of options and when you find the one for you, you will LOVE it!

  • Heidi from Canada

Oh Alison, now you have me the excuse to get the cream color jacket coat I had my eye on for a while. It’s lightweight faux fur, very close to the one the model with the mini skirt wears. I have two faux fur coats already, but they are for minus 25C or colder. One is a mink look alike, and the other a leopard print. The leopard swing coat I ‘inherited’ from my daughter. She bought it when she was pregnant, but the baby was born before it was cold enough to wear the coat. So she gave it to me. Our climate here warrants a closet full of coats and jackets. Will go now and order my delicious cream coat 🙂 Love all the styling with the faux fur coats.

    • I love the loepard swing coat Heidi!

  • I love faux fur jackets, I’ve been wanting one but it’s hard to find a more classic one a lot of them look too over the top for me, so I really like many of the options you have here!! Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2015 Alison:)

    • Thank you Marta! Happy holidays!!

  • The coat in the very first picture is killer! I actually just got rid of my fur vest (too big, and I want someing longer than hip length)

    • Hope you find one longer than hip length. It’s so much fun shopping for faux fur this time of the year!

  • I couldn’t agree with you more…I absolutely need a faux fur coat. I hope Santa knows that! Thank you for giving us all of these great possibilities. Merry Christmas, lovely lady.

    • Did you put it on your wish list to Santa, Leslie? 😉 I hope you get one too!!

  • Can’t wait for the winter to wear the faux fur coat! Here is a collection of faux fur coat, what do you think?
