Trend Watch | Bold Colorblock

Color blocking remains a hot trend for spring 2013 but it’s gotten even bolder.  With bright splashes of color and pops of neon, color block has been updated in a great way just in time for warm and sunny days.

After seeing a yellow and turquoise color block inspiration outfit from Marie last week, I realized that I already had the pieces in my closet to create this bold and fun combo.

My necklace and earrings are from online retailer Silver Speck.  They offer genuine sterling silver, gold and gem stone jewelry at amazingly affordable prices including this pretty mother of pearl necklace and diamond hoop earrings.

I also got these beautiful sterling silver hoops with semi-precious stones.

It’s Your Turn: Will you be trying out the new bold color block trend this spring? What are your favorite bright colors to combine?  Tell me in the comments!

  1. Love this color combo! I am wearing a similar outfit today- a light pink button up with red cropped pants and a leopard belt! A little unexpected but I really like it.

  2. Wow, love this color combo and yellow looks just gorgeous on you. I’m trying to integrate more yellow into my wardrobe… I’ve never worn it but looks like this are motivation for sure! Visiting from Monday Mingle.

  3. I’ve been seeing bright colors all over the blogosphere lately! I love it! I think the colors you chose go together so well!

  4. I LOVE this combo and you look fantastic in the yellow! I love yellow, but it makes me look a little washed out. I’m going to flip these colors and try my yellow skinny jeans and a teal top I have. I think I’ll pair it with my leopard pumps like Marie did. I hope it looks as cute as yours!

  5. Love the yellow and turquoise. That is one of my favorite color combinations! And the leopard belt is so perfect. 🙂

  6. I wore the exact bright yellow color today!! It was almost 70 degrees finally! Love those earrings!

  7. Yes, lots of yellow. I found out last summer that it works for me. 🙂 And it seems I need a leopard skinny belt now! Thanks for the inspiration.

  8. Theoretically, any combination can work if tone and saturation are similar. Great demo of that, dear Alison. You also didn’t junk it up with too many accessories. Just enough, with neutral shoe. Could you go ahead and write the book on how to look wonderful, please. I’ll buy.
Seriously … you look beautiful, as usual.
