Layers are key when dressing for spring because let’s face it, you can encounter numerous different weather conditions and all within the same day. That’s why for this month’s Style Your Budget we’re showcasing how you can give your favorite neutral cardigan new life by styling it with a printed top and gray jeans. For this particular look, we’re styling an ivory cardigan. However neutral can also mean gray, black, tan, and all shades in between. This look is just part of the Outfit Formulas® Spring 2022 Capsule Wardrobe!
Just like there’s a misconception that you can’t mix black and brown together, which you most certainly can, sometimes there’s a misconception that you can’t mix grays and brown or in this case ivory, together. The key is to pick a printed top that helps to pull them both together. If you still can’t get past the ivory cardigan, this outfit will also look fabulous with black neutral items or even go gray to create a sort of column-dressed look.

Love it or hate it, the shacket is a huge trend this winter so if you haven’t found one you love, there’s still time! When it comes to summer outfits, creating extra interest takes work and creativity because the last thing we want is something that looks great, but isn’t functional. For instance, layers and summer do not mix. However, layers and fall do mix and they mix ever so beautifully! The options are endless from a denim jacket to a cardigan or maybe even an olive utility jacket. I love seeing how many different looks I can create just by swapping out the toppers. That’s partly why I created Outfit Formulas®. It was my way to see how many different looks I could create using a handful of pieces including closet staples and a few trends and translate all that into easy-to-follow formulas.
For this month’s Style Your Budget I pulled a look from the Outfit Formulas® Fall 2021 Capsule Wardrobe. What I love about this look is that it truly has something for everyone. Some may be able to shop this entire look from their closet, which I always recommend first, because it does consist of some excellent closet staples. But if you look closely, this look also represents items that are totally on-trend for fall. Like the rust-colored cardigan, while a cardigan is a closet must-have, rust is a really popular color this fall. And that’s where this post comes in handy. It can help you fill in any of the gaps you may have by providing different options and price points so you can shop where you want and spend what you want. That’s what I call a win-win. Now let’s check out this month’s SYB formula, shall we?

Dressing for the summer weather can sometimes feel limiting. It’s hot and the last thing you want to add is extra heat. In the fall and winter it’s so easy to add tons of interest to any outfit with layers, scarves, or a cute jacket but in the summer...
I have always been a fan of monochromatic outfits. It’s an easy and quick way to pull together an outfit that looks chic and polished. This summer, however, monochromatic outfits are definitely having their moment. They can be seen all over Pinterest, in your favorite magazine, and in retailers’ advertisements. But what exactly is are monochromatic outfits? While it typically means dressing in one single color, it can also mean choosing pieces from the same color family, just with varying tints or shades. For instance, I love a solid black ensemble with a pop of color either using a fun heel, a statement necklace, or a top layer. This is my go-to look especially when it comes to holiday parties which you can read about HERE.
For summer though, I’m enjoying all the bright color selections as well as the earth-tone neutrals. This is one trend that’s definitely fun to play with. That’s why I thought it would be a great look for this month’s Style Your Budget. What is Style Your Budget? It’s where I offer an outfit formula for inspiration and then style it at different price points. For some items, you may be able to shop your closet and if you find any gaps, I offer different price points to fill in those gaps. While the formula this month is pretty simple, the pairing options are endless. What color palette will you choose for your monochromatic outfits?

I’ve been participating in the GYPO Style Challenges for three years now and I’ve loved it. I’ve always loved clothes, but I didn’t know how to put outfits together. My closet is now full of mix-and-match outfits, I have learned how to dress myself, and there is no more stress in figuring out to wear. The private FB group is full of wonderful ladies that build each other up. It’s so fun and is seriously the best group on FB.

Get Your Pretty On has changed my life, seriously. I have always chased what is trendy but found from season to season, that things go out of style and I was wasting money on items that I would only end up wearing a few times. GYPO has enabled me to simplify my closet, helps me make smarter purchasing decisions, and I feel so put together and confident using the outfit formulas that are provided. This program is a GAME CHANGER. I've been following GYPO for a few years now and my only regret is not jumping on board sooner.

Great community of ladies, helping each other look stylish, without breaking the bank, and using much of what you already own.

GYPO challenges have been one of the best things I have done! It had taught me so much more than just creating a closet of clothes that I love but also to have confidence in myself, how to pick and choose colors that work for me instead of against, and had given a wonderful community of Pretties who are so special.
