Brand Overhaul at Target Means Big Savings + Fall Challenge Open

By Jessica Pigza

First off, today’s big news…the Fall 2017 GYPO Style Challenge is now open! You can sign up now and get your fall trends shopping list plus the first week of outfit ideas and four bonus outfits immediately.  The sooner you sign up, the sooner you can get your shopping started!

Also, in case you haven’t heard, Target is undergoing a major overhaul of their brands to include home goods and accessories as well as women’s and men’s apparel. They are introducing such brands as A New Day and JoyLab for women and Goodfellow & Co. for men. In order to make room for these new brands they will be phasing out Merona and Mossimo. So what does that mean for us? Sales and clearance!

With the Fall 2017 GYPO Style Challenge opening today, now is the time to get your hands on some great pieces at a fraction of the cost!

After visiting my local Target and looking online I noticed that most of the Merona and Mossimo labels were either discounted or on clearance. They are also intermittently offering an additional percentage off, sometimes through the Cartwheel app (which has now combined with their Target App so no need to have both anymore). When I looked online certain items were already showing as sold out both in-store and online, however, when I visited the store I was still able to find those “sold out” items. I suggest that if you find something you really like, try calling to see if the store really does or does not have it.

While I am excited to see what the new brands have to offer I’m sad to see Mossimo and Merona go. I have a bunch of their items in my closet and I especially love their tanks and tees for layering. From what I can see, they are keeping some of their basics and just rebranding them.

Items from the new brands have been slowing trickling into Target stores over the past few weeks, but they made their official launch online over the weekend. They anticipate that it will take roughly two years to make the total transition. I’ve been checking out what the new brand has to offer and below are a few pieces I’m really excited about. Not all pieces are showing as available but I’m sure they are still working out some of the inventory kinks. As with anything, change is hard but I’m hoping Target will not let us down in proving stylish, affordable clothing and a great array of basics. Until then, happy shopping!

Dark Denim Shirt Dress

This picture and styling does not do the dress justice! I’ve seen it in person and it’s a great thick material and would look perfect with boots and a scarf or an awesome statement necklace!

Floral Tiered Ruffle Blouse

Not only does this combine red and floral trends, but ruffled sleeves as well!

Flare Denim Trouser Dark Wash

I love the simple style of these dark wash flare jeans with dark stitching!

Military Jacket with Flower Embroidery Detail

Again here is another situation where the picture does not do this coat justice! I saw it in person at Target and it’s a great fall coat because you can wear the sleeved rolled up or leave them down. Olive green is definitely on trend and the embroidered flowers make it pop!

Slip On Platform Embroidered Sneakers

A very casual twist on the embroidered footwear.

Tie Heeled Booties

I love the tie accent on these boots! I hope they are just as cute in person and hopefully comfortable too!

It’s Your Turn:  Are you loving the new brand lines at Target or missing the old ones?
