ALL ABOUT ALISON.
This entrepreneur, mom of three and recovering yoga pants addict is on a mission to help you feel pretty and confident every day.
Question – what happens when an engineer develops a passion for fashion? I’ll tell you what – she cracks the code for personal style!
I’m Alison, the mom of three and former engineer behind Get Your Pretty On. A few years ago I started working from home and that’s when I fell into my yoga pants rut (FYI – none of my yoga pants had ever been to yoga!)
In a desperate search for ways to make style easy I created my online styling program Style Challenges. Since then I’ve taught nearly 30,000 women how to shop for and use my Outfit Formulas that work for EVERY body. It’s like math for your closet (but the fun kind!)
My goal is to provide the inspiration, tools and support to make it as easy as possible for you to feel pretty every day. Feeling pretty isn’t a vain pursuit; I’m here to help you feel more confident in your style and empowered in your choices. Women who feel good in their own skin are always the prettiest – and that touches every area of their lives.
With over 1M visitors per year, Get Your Pretty On® is the go-to blog for real women who want practical style tips and advice. GYPO began in 2012 as my accountability partner to get out of my own yoga pants mom rut. Since that time, it has evolved into a place for me to share what I’m learning and make easy style and beauty available to women just like me.
Style Challenges® is an online wardrobe styling program that provides members with a seasonal shopping list of trendy and classic pieces styled into mix and match outfits. Since the first Style Challenge® in 2014, nearly 30,000 women in 20 countries have rediscovered their style, regained their confidence and made new friends in our vibrant community.
My Mom Rut
I started Get Your Pretty On a few years ago after falling into my own yoga pants mom rut. After a few months of working from home, I’d lost all accountability and motivation for getting dressed and taking care of myself. It was negatively impacting more than just my appearance. To get out of my rut, I started carving out time to feel pretty every morning by putting on a little makeup, fixing my hair (in something other than a ponytail) and getting dressed in real clothes. The only problem is I didn’t have any real clothes to put on, just relics from my corporate past life.
I had to dig in and learn how to dress for my new lifestyle. Since there weren’t a lot of resources around at the time, I decided to blog about my personal style journey and Get Your Pretty On was born.
Starting GYPO turned out to be the kick in the yoga pants I needed to make an effort every day to stay out of my rut.
Since then, my goal has been to share what I’m learning and make easy style and beauty available to other women. At GYPO you’ll find lots of easy ways to feel pretty that work for your daily life. I love helping other moms gain confidence and feel great through accessible style, simple outfit formulas and easy beauty tips that work for everyday.
Easy, Affordable Style
Great style is really about having the right pieces and knowing how to put them together. In the spring of 2014 I started a first of its’ kind online personal styling program that broke all the rules, Style Challenges by GYPO. Each season, I show women how to build capsule wardrobe so they can create outfit formulas out of on-trend pieces and tried and true closet staples. You don’t have to be wealthy to have your own personal stylist, Style Challenges by GYPO are at a price point that anyone can afford. Shop where you want, spend what you want. No boxes or subscriptions!
Whether you’ve forgotten what pretty feels like, are ready to rediscover your style or just want looking put together to be a little easier, you’re at the right place!
My Life as a Mom and Wife
I’m incredibly blessed to be married to my best friend Craig (we met on a blind date!) and to share our family life in the north Dallas suburbs. We have three kids – Devon, a college senior biology major at Texas State, Aubrey, our kindhearted college sophomore at TCU, and Ava, our 14 year-old that’s crazy about horses.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll stick around. After all, it’s even better to feel pretty together!
