Chambray Dress + Cozy Knits

I always love “falling back” – the extra hour of sleep, cozy evenings at home when it gets dark early and the promise of some cooler weather in Texas.

Yesterday was one of those fall Texas days where it’s cool in the morning but warms up nicely by afternoon. I wasn’t quite sure what to wear for church. But layers seem to always work this time of year.

I’ve been dying to style my chambray shirt dress for fall. First, I tried tights under it and a cardigan over it. Close but not quite right. Then I pulled out my new button boot socks and riding boots and threw on this scarf. But it still needed something. The cozy knit sweater vest was the perfect final layer. Just light enough, yet warm enough.

  1. love a piece that can be worn into different seasons…can totally envision it in early spring with fun sandals and colorful accents….but I ADORE the way you have styled it for fall…with all the warm cozy neutrals. LOVE!
    Have a great week girl!

  2. So cute! I love how the vest breaks up all the chambray. Adorable. 😉
I almost never buy winter dresses because they aren’t as versatile. Pretty much all my dresses are summer dresses, but I wear them all year under sweaters or blazers, over blouses, tees or turtlenecks with boots and tights and scarves. 😉 I love a pretty dress!

  3. I admire you ability to pull all these pieces together in such a clean, casual way. So cute, nothing out of place. And isn’t cooler weather a relief ? Thanks for showing us how to do it!

  4. I found you through RGS. I live in the Dallas area as well…can’t believe how warm this November has been! Love the knee socks/boots combo, especially with the shirt dress. I have one that I wore all summer but haven’t thought about wearing this fall. I’m going to have to pull it out again!

  6. In LOVE with those boots!

I’ve been pulling chunky sweaters over my sundresses, and adding colored tights to extend their wear into the winter. Fall fashion is the most fun!
