I Feel Pretty | in Leopard + Leather

Leather and Leopard Casual to Dressy Have you ever had to go to back to back events –  one casual, the other dressier – with NO time to change in between?

Last week, I had to rush between two overlapping blogger events – a preview of the new Nordstrom Rack in Dallas and a press screening for the Universal Pictures’ film “About Time“.  More to come on both soon.

For the Nordstrom Rack event, I wanted to be stylish yet comfortable.  One of my blogging assignments was to put together three outfits while I was there – so quick changes in the fitting room were a must.

I started with two comfortable basics – my faux leather leggings and an over-sized cobalt blue sweater – then paired them simply with my leopard flats.

In the car on the way to the press screening, I swapped out my flats for some ankle boots and added a leopard scarf.  Instantly dressier.

Lesson learned – there’s no need to do a  full outfit change when going between events.  Start with a good base then swap out a few accessories in the car and you’re good to go!

It’s Your Turn:  Have you ever had to change in the car between events?  Tell me in the comments!

  1. blue and leopard looks great together! i’m wearing a leopard scarf today too and i think throwing it on over anything instantly “chic-a-fies” your outfit! 🙂

  2. So pretty. Chic and stylish. You wear these clothes with aplomb.

We have a Nordstrom Rack near us and the best part of the store is they carry large shoe sizes. Up to 13! I’m a 12 and find it almost impossible to see shoes in my size anywhere. NR is the only place I can see shoes on the shelf.

Your question about changing clothes in a car brought back embarrassing memories. When I first started taking outfit-photos, I was unhappy being limited to indoors and wanted to take outdoor pictures. So I’d drive to remote areas, like parks. When I got there, I’d change into women’s clothes in my car, jump out, take pictures quickly, change back and drive home. I didn’t want to be seen wearing female attire while driving so wore men’s clothes behind the wheel — but with makeup I’d applied at home. The crazy life of a non-conformist…

  3. I love outfits that can go from day to evening wear and I need to do this more often so I’m not trying to change in between events. Love the cobalt blue sweater and the leather leggings and love how you transitioned from a casual look to a more dressed up look.

  4. You look gorgeous in this combo. I works so well together. I recently paired my black leather leggings first with a Leopard Blouse & then with a Cobalt Blouse & I loved both looks. Your boots are gorgeous as are the Stella&Dot Necklaces. A great giveaway too. I am dying over the cluster, red stone Statement Necklace & matching Bracelet, called “Spring Awakening”. They would look great any season, but especially for the holidays coming up.

And as always my pleasure to link up, Alison. I will check out Alyssa’s Blog, too. =)

  5. Alison, both versions look great! I especially love the ankle boots and the leo scarf paired with your leather leggings. You found a very classy and stylish approach to this dressing challenge!

  6. Ok I NEED one of these sweaters, stat! It looks like the perfect comfortable oversized fit and I love the length! Did you get your regular size or size up to get that look? Anyway, loving both your pretty looks – you look amazing in those leather leggings! And I can’t wait to see the outfits you put together at Nordstrom Rack, I love that place!

  7. You look amazing Alison!!!!! I have a pair of leather leggings that i can’t wait to wear again. Looking good pretty lady!!!!

Don’t forget to join me tomorrow for my weekly tres-chic fashion thursday link up.

  8. I love your cobalt and leopard! I also love Nordstrom Rack, so sad we don’t have one any where down South! (just moved back down here) If I was to win the giveaway, I would get the Sutton necklace! I love it!

  9. Hi Alison!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this outfit!!! As soon as the page loaded, it was love at first sight 🙂 The leopard scarf with cobalt is amazing!! Of course you look beautiful as always too.

I hope you’re having a great week – thank you for hosting, it’s always fun to link up and meet some new bloggers.

  10. I think you did a great job! I have this happen all the time and I will usually change shoes and add a statement necklace which always dresses up an outfit.

I LOVE Stella & Dot and am dying for the Tempest necklace to finish off my September Pinspired look.
