Life has been moving at an uncomfortably hectic pace lately.  So last Friday, I packed up the car and the kids and we drove to Austin for the weekend to meet up with my husband who is there on business.

It was so refreshing just to get away from all of the responsibilities, sports practices and household duties for a few days to recharge our batteries and enjoy some family time.  We shopped, swam, toured the state capitol and ate loads of yummy food.  Oh and took outfit pics downtown, of course.  🙂

  • Good for you!! Glad you took the chance to spend some time with family. We all need to do that more, instead of sitting at our desks just to sit at our desks {okay, I do that because I feel guilty about leaving early, even though my job is winding down and I don’t have a lot to do}. And I absolutely love the outfit! I don’t think I can pull off a maxi, but I love the look!

  • You know how I love my maxi skirts!! The shoes are the perfect touch:)

  • very pretty! I love the sandals! Maxi skirts/dresses are of my favorite pieces. I’ll have to try it with the knotted denim, you look great!

  • Kym

I have the same exact skirt and I also thought it’d be fun to pair it with a knotted chambray 🙂 But I love how you added coral underneath – it really makes everything pop! You look so very pretty!

  • Love how you styled that outfit! I admit, my fave thing to do when I am stressed out is just have the house to myself to watch embarrassingly bad reality tv shows. 🙂

  • I adore Austin! That is where I grew up, so I am jealous you got to spend time there! Love those wedges 🙂

  • Seriously, You are looking like a movie star here Alison! I’m also a big maxi fan so don’t be surprised if I steal this fab look anytime soon! 🙂

  • Love that maxi. I feel in love with these last summer. So comfortable and versatile. Those wedges are super cute!

  • Oh I love Kayla’s outfit! Such a cute color combo.
So, I’m loving your outfit today! I’ve been thinking of getting some variation of a neutral colored striped maxi for a while now and I love how you wore your denim top. Plus, I was *this close* to buying those exact wedges the other day! They’re so perfectly classic. Your weekend sounds like a lot of fun! It’s so nice to get away for a while sometimes 🙂

  • I’ve never been brave enough to wear a maxi skirt or dress! I even bought one once, but chickened out and sold it on eBay! You make it look so easy to pull off, though!! I love it with the jacket!

  • You can’t go wrong with a black and white maxi. Love your casual tied up chambray paired with it!

  • I am glad you were able to take some time off! 🙂 In today’s fast paced life we always forget to take some time off to enjoy simple things in life, such as spending some quality time with the family! I love your skirt and those wedges are to die for.

  • Love a maxi and chambray shirt! It is such a great combo. I wish my hubs and I could get away for a little bit to recharge after his law school exams are over. Unfortunately I think we are just going to have to settle for a little down time at home.

Hey Alison, what a Gorgeous Fun Outfit. I need a Stripped Maxi Skirt & a Chambray Top in my closet ASAP. This outfit definitely calls for Summer & those Wedges are Beautiful & Neutral. You have the best Wedge Sandals. I featured your Yellow Shirt-dress from last week, also. =) And I forgot to link up today but I will link up tomorrow, I promise. =)

Also, this Saturday is My Birthday. Since this year I won’t be doing much celebration at home because I am now a mom and my baby is still very young, I figured to have a Blog Birthday Party instead. I invited all of my Readers, Followers and other Stylish Bloggers to participate by styling an outfit of their choice and E-Mail me said outfit no later than Saturday morning at the latest. You are more than welcome to participate. *Hint Hint I Love Dresses*. Thanks so much.

  • Maxi skirts are definitely a great addition to the summer time! So cool and comfy and I love that you spiced it up with Chambray. 🙂 I have this same skirt, but in nude and black!

  • I’ve got to remember about this link-up! Next week!! Love your maxi. You look so pretty.

  • That skirt is so fun! Love it.

  • I love the coral and navy stripes together – you look gorgeous as always Alison! It sounds like you had a great weekend, there’s nothing quite like a little getaway to recharge your batteries. I’m the same – a few days away at the beach always makes me feel wonderful, as soon as I see the ocean or walk on the sand I feel instantly relaxed. Or if I can’t do that, a little mani/pedi or massage goes a long way! 🙂 I hope you have a great weekend, thanks for hosting this link up!

I’ve been noticing the maxi skirt trend for awhile now. I’m pretty short (4’11”) and just assumed that they aren’t flattering on short girls. But I’ve seen plenty of shorties who look really cute in them. I may try them out. Thanks for the inspiration! Oh and I found you through a eshakti review not stitchfix. oops!

  • Gorgeous look!
