Trend Watch | It’s a Sweater Fest!

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year…sweater season!  And the sweater trends this winter are SO much fun.

This is a rebuilding year for my sweater collection.  I’m trying to add in some of this year’s trends as well as a few classics to beef up my cozy winter knits.

But first, let’s start out with my absolute favorite sweater in my existing collection.

There’s really nothing special at all about this sweater.  Actually some might even say that it’s kind of ugly. But it is my go-to for ultimate comfort and effortless dressing.  I love pairing it up exactly as it is here – with leggings, a tank and my comfy boots.  Plus the long sleeves wrap over my hands and keep them warm.  (Christmas mug, optional!)

And now for some I’d like to add to my collection…

Sweater Trends 2012

[Stripes:  ModCloth/Polka Dots:  Nordstrom/Cashmere:  Nordstrom/Baby Deer:  Miss Selfridge]

1.  Colorful Stripes – A fun take on a classic, bright stripes bring a little cheer to a dreary winter’s day.

2.  Polka Dots – One of my favorite sweater trends this season!  Polka dots are popping up everywhere.

3.  Cashmere Brights – A new spin on this classic, cashmere never goes out of style.  In brightly saturated hues, you’ll want one in every color of the rainbow!

4.  Cute Animals  – the animal sweater trend is HUGE this year!  I’m afraid it might be gone next year so let’s enjoy it while we can.

It’s Your Turn: What sweaters have you been wanting to add to your collection?  Tell me in the comments!

  1. I love sweaters that have long sleeves like yours. My favorite sweaters are definitely cardigans in any color, but I have been hunting for a polka dot one. Maybe Santa will bring me one 🙂 Heather

  2. I like that your favorite go-to sweater is just a normal looking sweater – and I love the sleeves covering your hands! I like so many of your choices – and I think I have to add to the several sweaters on my “wish”list. I haven’t gotten an animal sweater yet but am really wanting one, and that one that looks like a fur stole is one of the most unique I’ve seen!

  3. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  4. I like your fave sweater a lot! I need to work on my collection too, as a few years back, I went into an I-don’t-like-sweaters-or-sweatshirts phase and got rid of them all. Now there are so many cool colors and patterns out there, and they look great with leggings!

  5. I love sweaters and would love to add a couple of Polka Dot ones and a Heart-Print one, to my collection. I think I will rely on a lot of sweaters as a new mom. =)

I figured since I wore a Sweater today I should link up. Thanks for stopping by my blog. =)

  6. I love giant cozy sweaters for wearing with leggings and skinny jeans. I would have never thought to wear a shorter sweater, but I love the way it looks on you! Now, I need to go find some longer tanks (if I am wearing leggings my rear must be covered!) and see if I like it on me. 😉 As for new sweaters I tend to stick to solids, but a new stripe sweater or two would be a nice addition. 😉

  7. as always you look super cute. i don’t think anything could be ugly on you! Thanks for being part of Wardrobe Wednesday and a very Merry Christmas to you.

  8. I’ve always been a sweater fiend. They’re just effortlessly comfortable and warm. And your go-to sweater is NOT ugly. It looks well -worn, comfy and easily styled.
