What I’m Really Wearing – Casual Date Night

What I'm Really Wearing - Casual Date Night2

“What I’m Really Wearing” is a monthly feature at GYPO where I show you some of the easy outfits I’m putting together in real life.  In the fashion blog world, I’ve found that a lot of the outfits are more aspirational than inspirational.  I’ve even fallen into the trap of featuring overly styled and accessorized outfits that I wouldn’t wear in real life.  Truth is, I do wear a version of these outfits, just pared down significantly.

That’s what this series is all about – the simplified outfits I’m REALLY wearing to do real life in and you can too.

This month, I’m showing you a real casual date night outfit that I wore out recently while in San Antonio for our daughter’s cheerleading competition.

This bright pinkish coral blouse is one of my new favorite items in my closet.  It’s so easy to dress up or down and the color makes me smile.

Outfit Formula:  Blouse + Skinny Jeans + Long Necklace + Metallic Flats + Pop of Leopard

  • I love this look! For casual date nights, I love skinny jeans, a fun tank with a statement necklace, black or navy blazer (because I’m always cold) and boots/booties.

  • So cute! I love tunic style tops. I guess my casual date night look is pajamas because we’re always on the couch renting a movie. haha. Love the new blog look! So sleek and clean looking.

Cute! How does the sizing on that top run?

    • It’s very true to size. I got it in a small. Tried the XS first but the tail was a little short for my liking. Hope that helps!

  • Love this outfit! My casual date outfit would look something similar to yours, or a casual dress of some sort, I’m a sucker for a dress and it’s pretty much always warm enough to wear one.

Great outfit! Where did you get the earings?? Love them!!

    • Thanks Nicole! Remember C. Wonder? That’s where the earrings are from. I wish they had stayed in business and miss them so!

Hmm…no I don’t remember C.Wonder. Thank you though! I always look to see what earings you are wearing with your outfits! I love stud earings!

  • Love the casual look with the pop of leopard print. My casual date night is usually jeans and a blouse too. xo ~ Megan The Fashionista Momma

Hi Alison, I love your blog and I love this outfit. I found your blog through Cyndi Spivey’s post and was wondering 1. How do I signup to get your posts in my email and…2. I loved the blue pattern sheath dress you were wearing in Cyndi’s photos of the Dallas conference and was wondering if you could share purchase details on that outfit? Thank you.

Hi Jackie! First off, THANK YOU! I love Cyndi and am so glad you found me through her blog. If you scroll up just ahead of the comments section, you will see a space where you can sign up for my free capsule wardrobe shopping list. You’ll also be on my newsletter list from then on.

The blue sheath dress is from The Limited but I got it last summer. Unfortunately they are sold out of it now. It’s one of my favorites!

      Have a great day!
