In this week’s SAHMonday post I promised to show you two tiny tweaks you can make to a simple white tee and jeans outfit to instantly make it date night worthy.
These block heel sandals were a bargain find last year that I’ve worn the heck out of. The color goes with everything and the heel is just high enough to make my outfits feel dressier without being uncomfortable. They’re the perfect everyday heel.
I’ve worn my moto jacket more this spring than I did all last fall and winter. My exact jacket is sold out but here’s a similar version. It’s a nice departure from my typical cardigan and feels a bit more polished and put together. If it’s too warm for the moto jacket, you could also try a pretty kimono like this. Kimonos are my favorite way to add light layering and interest to an outfit when the temps warm up.
I felt like this outfit needed a piece of statement jewelry so added in this two-tone pendant necklace. I love jewelry that combines silver and gold like this filigree detail.

I FEEL PRETTY
It’s the day of the week at GYPO where we celebrate what makes us feel pretty. Whether it’s a new outfit, hairstyle, or makeup, the I Feel Pretty link up is about anything and everything that makes your life prettier. Even if you’re not a blogger, you can still play along. Just tell me what made you feel pretty this week in the comments.
Do you want to know what makes it really hard to be a blogger? Not shopping for clothes.
I haven’t bought anything new in over two months. Why? Because I like the clothes I already have, wear them all the time and don’t need to buy things just for the sake of having something new.
The big issue is I’m left styling the same stuff over and over again on the blog. And that triggers all kinds of insecurities about being a style blogger (which I don’t actually consider myself, btw).
So thanks for bearing with me and not only coming back every week, but also appreciating the fact that I really do shop my closet, live the capsule wardrobe philosophy and practice “less is more” in real life.
This week I’m styling some closet staples that are so basic I almost feel guilty – a white tee and jeans.
Never underestimate the power of a plain white tee and jeans. Pull your favorite white tee out of the back of your closet! I’m going to show you exactly how to wear a t-shirt fashionably. (Make sure to check out how I made this look date night ready with only a few tweaks.)
Continuing with my stream of consciousness, answer me this – whatever happened to belts?
I almost never see them anymore but love how finished they make an outfit feel.
It’s official, you heard it here, I’m bringing belts back! It’s like bringing sexy back…but belts.
On that note, let’s just move on to this week’s SAHMonday outfit, ok? If you’re new around here SAHMonday is a weekly series where I share what I’m really wearing. It’s for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me) who aren’t leaving the house on Monday morning but still want to look cute and put together.
If you’re looking for an awesome basic white tee, look no further than this one. It’s just slouchy enough, not see through and holds up wash after wash! You’re going to want all the colors.
This bracelet set can be worn all together or just one or two at a time. I love the druzy piece!
My loafer mules are comfy and the color goes with everything. They’re my favorite schlepping around shoes. These frayed hem jeans are one of my closet staples that I wear multiple times per week.
My patent belt is a few years old and no longer available, but this one is a nice alternative that will stay in style forever.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may already know that I spent some time in NYC two weeks ago for a conference. I posted this pic about my need for some alone time after two days of networking.
Have you ever gone out to dinner alone? I always feel awkward doing it but honestly, this is part of my self care when I’m feeling like I need to recharge my battery. It’s one of the things those who aren’t natural introverts may have a hard time understanding.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m actually really friendly and love meeting new people. I’m able to network pretty well but it also takes a lot out of me, so I have to go back into my shell for a little while.
I took it one step further and also went to see Phantom of the Opera…alone. Which honestly, I’ve always kind of wanted to do. The music moved me to tears and it was nice to sit there blubbering in total anonymity.
So there you go, that’s how this introvert handles conferences!
Deciding what to wear proved to be a bigger issue. I don’t dress up much so I kind of resent having to buy dressy clothes for one time events. Usually the decision comes down to this…what can I wear with my favorite leopard heels?
After shopping for over a week, I finally stumbled across this teal dress on sale. It couldn’t have been more perfect! For sizing, I’m wearing a 2 regular in this dress and am 5’4″ and 125 lbs.
Tortoise and teal are a great combo! The tortoise clover cuff tied together nicely with the earrings.
These trusty leopard heels have been serving me well at conferences and special events for the past three years. Unfortunately my exact pair is sold out, but this pair is similar.

Happy Monday pretties! I trust that you had a good weekend and maybe, just maybe, some spring temps to go along with it. Spring in north Texas is such a mixed bag but two constants are wind and allergies, which we’ve had plenty of both lately! I swear the pharmacist probably thinks I’m addicted to Sudafed. One of these days they’re going to type in my license number and turn me in.
Last week I went to a conference in NYC so this week you’re getting a spring outfit recap post. It’s amazing how just three days away threw my whole life and routine into a tailspin that I’m still catching up from! I’m normally against recap posts but, desperate times, people! It’s not a total rip off though, looking back over my spring outfits made me realize that these have been some of my favorites in recent years. They’ve all been worn over and over and have become some of my go-to favorites.
If you’re new here, SAHMonday is my weekly outfit series for stay at home and work from home moms (like me) who may not necessarily be heading out the house on Monday morning BUT still want to look cute and put together. I started it as a way of getting myself out of the “yoga pants mom rut” and inspiring you to do the same. You can check out the other outfits in this series here.
Each of these outfits has a “formula” of pieces that you can use and take liberties to create your own. PLEASE shop your closet first to find similar pieces to create these outfits. If you don’t have everything, I’ve also given you links below.
Because I shop my own closet more often than buying new things (which kind of makes me a bad style blogger, right?), a lot of times my exact pieces are sold out (don’t get mad), but I’ve given you substitutions below.
P.S. I’ve also linked up some of my favorite spring pieces from Alison + Aubrey, the jewelry line my 19 year old daughter and I started to help her pay for school! #twokidsincollege #needisaymore

If you’re in need of refreshing your closet staples for spring, then you might want to pin this post! Earlier this year I released my first ever year-round capsule wardrobe builder, the Closet Staples Casual Capsule Wardrobe Builder. It’s been one of the best selling and reviewed Style Challenges® capsule wardrobes to date!
The shopping list for this year round wardrobe builder is my free gift if you sign up for the GYPO newsletter. You also get four free outfit ideas that span all four seasons. (if you don’t have it yet, you can sign up HERE)
This list is a great place to start if you’re rebuilding your wardrobe from scratch. You can also slowly build your wardrobe over the course of a year (or more) to spread out the expense and curate your closet with pieces you love. You know what I always say, when you’re shopping, if it’s not a heck yes, it’s a no!
You can see that almost every piece on this list is used across multiple seasons so you get the most bang for your buck.
Today we’re going to focus on just the spring pieces!
Spring Closet Staples Shopping List
Each piece on this list is one of my closet staples that I pull out every spring, year after year. These are classic basics that won’t be going out of style anytime soon. The best part? You can create a multitude of mix and match outfit ideas from them!
I’ve linked up similar items to shop online below, but if you sign up for the full list you’ll get access to an entire catalog of recommended items.
You get four free outfit ideas for signing up for the list, but here’s a BONUS spring outfit formula not included. Try this one out with pieces from your closet!
It’s Your Turn: What are some of YOUR favorite spring closet staples? Did they make this list?

I am so glad I was part of the Fall 2019 Style Challenge. It gave me confidence and so many great outfitt ideas. The ladies in the group were very supportive and I will defintetly be doing another challenge in the future.

I’ve been participating in the GYPO Style Challenges for three years now and I’ve loved it. I’ve always loved clothes, but I didn’t know how to put outfits together. My closet is now full of mix-and-match outfits, I have learned how to dress myself, and there is no more stress in figuring out to wear. The private FB group is full of wonderful ladies that build each other up. It’s so fun and is seriously the best group on FB.

Get Your Pretty On has changed my life, seriously. I have always chased what is trendy but found from season to season, that things go out of style and I was wasting money on items that I would only end up wearing a few times. GYPO has enabled me to simplify my closet, helps me make smarter purchasing decisions, and I feel so put together and confident using the outfit formulas that are provided. This program is a GAME CHANGER. I've been following GYPO for a few years now and my only regret is not jumping on board sooner.

Great community of ladies, helping each other look stylish, without breaking the bank, and using much of what you already own.
Chosen Faith November 19, 2019
GYPO challenges have been one of the best things I have done! It had taught me so much more than just creating a closet of clothes that I love but also to have confidence in myself, how to pick and choose colors that work for me instead of against, and had given a wonderful community of Pretties who are so special.
