SAHMonday: Orange Blouse + Flare Jeans

SAHMonday: Orange Blouse + Flare Jeans

Welcome to another edition of SAHMonday – weekly outfit inspiration just for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me!) who aren’t heading out of the house on Monday morning.  You can check out the other outfits in this series here.

These outfits are perfect for when you want to feel comfortable, yet put together, so that you can face the day and any errands you may need to run.  Plus, most of these outfit formulas can be pulled straight from your closet.  If you don’t have my exact pieces, that’s ok.  Just use one of the substitutions that I recommend.

Orange Printed Blouse + Flared Cropped Jeans

Last week while I was doing research (aka shopping) for my Five Spring to Summer Transition Pieces post, I picked up this orange blouse and these cropped flare jeans (featured in that post) for myself.

I love pairing orange up with neutral shoes. These patent nude sandals are an investment but on a cost per wear basis, I’ve more than made up for it! They go with everything in my closet and are my go-to sandals in both spring and summer.

Let’s talk about these jeans for a minute.  I’ve been a jeans shopping queen this spring!  There are just so many cute new styles out there, it’s the perfect time to update your collection.  These are so soft and comfortable and are great for everyday!

Alison’s Friday Favorites

Alison’s Friday Favorites

TGIF Pretties and welcome to another edition of Friday Favorites!  If you’re new around here, Alison’s Friday Favorites is a weekly list of anything that makes my life a little easier, prettier or happier.  Here are a few things that checked those boxes this week.

Favorite #1 – Personality Test FUN!

Over Easter weekend, I drove everyone in my family nuts by forcing them to do personality tests.  Apparently, I’m the only one who’s absolutely fascinated by this kind of stuff.  Which probably had something to do with the fact that I chose to major in Psychology. For better or worse, I love finding out what makes people tick.

I found this free test based on the Myers-Briggs typing and it’s fun and eerily accurate.  When I found out my type, I almost started to cry because suddenly everything in my life made sense!

I discovered that I’m an INFJ – Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging.  Here’s a summary from the Truity web site of the INFJ personality type:

INFJ in a Nutshell

INFJs are creative nurturers with a strong sense of personal integrity and a drive to help others realize their potential. Creative and dedicated, they have a talent for helping others with original solutions to their personal challenges.

The Counselor has a unique ability to intuit others’ emotions and motivations, and will often know how someone else is feeling before that person knows it himself. They trust their insights about others and have strong faith in their ability to read people. Although they are sensitive, they are also reserved; the INFJ is a private sort, and is selective about sharing intimate thoughts and feelings.

What Makes the INFJ Tick

INFJs are guided by a deeply considered set of personal values. They are intensely idealistic, and can clearly imagine a happier and more perfect future. They can become discouraged by the harsh realities of the present, but they are typically motivated and persistent in taking positive action nonetheless. The INFJ feels an intrinsic drive to do what they can to make the world a better place.

INFJs want a meaningful life and deep connections with other people. They do not tend to share themselves freely but appreciate emotional intimacy with a select, committed few. Although their rich inner life can sometimes make them seem mysterious or private to others, they profoundly value authentic connections with people they trust.

Recognizing the INFJ

INFJs often appear quiet, caring and sensitive, and may be found listening attentively to someone else’s ideas or concerns. They are highly perceptive about people and want to help others achieve understanding. INFJs are not afraid of complex personal problems; in fact, they are quite complex themselves, and have a rich inner life that few are privy to. They reflect at length on issues of ethics, and feel things deeply. Because Counselors initially appear so gentle and reserved, they may surprise others with their intensity when one of their values is threatened or called into question. Their calm exterior belies the complexity of their inner worlds.

Because INFJs are such complex people, they may be reluctant to engage with others who might not understand or appreciate them, and can thus be hard to get to know. Although they want to get along with others and support them in their goals, they are fiercely loyal to their own system of values and will not follow others down a path that does not feel authentic to them. When they sense that their values are not being respected, or when their intuition tells them that someone’s intentions are not pure, they are likely to withdraw.

Popular Hobbies for the INFJ

Popular hobbies for the INFJ include writing, art appreciation, cultural events, reading, socializing in small, intimate settings, and playing or listening to music.

Facts About INFJ

Interesting facts about the INFJ:

  • Least common type in the population
  • On personality trait scales, scored as Sincere, Sympathetic, Unassuming, Submissive, Easygoing, Reserved and Patient
  • Among highest of all types in college GPA
  • Among most likely to stay in college
  • Most likely of all types to cope with stress by seeing a therapist
  • Personal values include Spirituality, Learning, and Community Service
  • Commonly found in careers in religion, counseling, teaching, and the arts

OK, now go take it yourself and be fascinated.  Tell me your personality type/traits in the comments. I promise you’ll enjoy it! Take the test HERE.

Favorite #2 – Easiest Contouring Ever

OK, let’s just admit that I’m a lucky girl because I get to try out most of IT Cosmetics goodies as soon as they are available. This past week I discovered one that’s a total game changer! IT Confidence in Your Glow is a combo of highlighter, blush and bronzer in one sweep of the brush.  It truly makes application of these three products a total no-brainer.  If you’ve ever struggled with contouring, this is a must try!

Screen Shot 2017-04-27 at 8.35.49 AMI also did a quick tutorial showing you how to apply it on Facebook Live yesterday.

Favorite #3 – ROC Night Cream

Speaking of skincare and “glow”, let’s talk about ROC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream for a minute.  I’ve tried SO many products through the years to help with cell turnover and general appearance of my skin but I come back to ROC every time.  It’s the only product that truly makes a noticeable difference. Granted, it takes a little time to start seeing results but most products that contain retinol do (around 4-6 weeks).

I’ve done the harsher retinoids that my dermatologist prescribes but they leave my skin dry and flaky.  ROC gives me the same results with a lot less irritation.  If you’re looking for a product that actually gives results, give this one a try.  The best part?  You can get it at your local drugstore or grocery store for under $20.

Favorite #4 – Ultimate Bundle

Favorite #5 – Girls’ Spring/Summer 2017 Capsule Wardrobe

You asked and I dragged my feet.  🙂  But it’s finally coming!  The Girls’ Spring/Summer 2017 Capsule Wardrobe will be available on Monday, May 1st.  It’s just for girls and tweens sizes 7-16 and honestly it’s one of my favorites ever.  Since I’m a bit behind the 8 ball on getting this one ready, it includes two seasons for one low price.  You get 14 days of spring outfits and 14 days of summer outfits plus a capsule wardrobe shopping list that covers both seasons with some crossover pieces you get to re-use. Keep an eye out for the announcement on Monday!

What am I offering in the bundle?  Well, just my most popular capsule wardrobe ever – the SAHM Capsule Wardrobe Builder! If you haven’t bought it yet, this is the absolute best time to get it.  This capsule itself is worth $29 but you get so much more in this bundle.

For six days only, everything you need (and then some) is in one fabulous package, for the most affordable price ever. (Seriously, just wait until I tell you the price.)

This edition of the Ultimate Homemaking Bundle includes 50 ebooks, 21 eCourses, 14 printables, 2 videos, 2 audios, 2 summits, and 1 membership site.

These top-quality resources cover everything you need to make mothering feel less stressful… quick & healthy recipes, printables, cleaning tips, sizzling date night ideas, parenting helps, and so much more.

You sort of need to see it to believe it, but the package includes 106 digital products and it’s worth over $1980!

The best part?  It’s only $29.97!  That’s just .97 more than the cost of my SAHM Capsule Wardrobe Builder!

Here are some of the resources included in this bundle.

Besides being so incredibly helpful, one of the things I like best about the bundle is the price. By offering it for a short time only, we’re able to give you access to over $1980 worth of amazing products for a whopping 97% off!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Visit the website, take a quick look at all the goodness that comes in this package, then click the “Get my copy now!” button to go through the simple and secure 3-step checkout process.

Five Spring to Summer Transition Pieces

Five Spring to Summer Transition Pieces

I know that it’s barely feeling like spring to some of you but one of the hot topics in the Spring 2017 GYPO Style Challenge private Facebook group this past week has been summer style.  With Memorial Day a little over a month away, summer’s going to be here before we know it.  Now’s a great time to start getting a few pieces that can transition easily from spring to summer.

This past week, I went into Old Navy to see what’s trending for summer.  They had so many great pieces that can easily span the seasons in this in-between time.  Since many of you are also Old Navy shoppers and it’s Super Cash time, I’m sharing some fun ways to spend yours on pieces that will do double duty – now and later.

SAHMonday: Gray Cold Shoulder and Yellow Sandals

Welcome to another edition of SAHMonday – weekly outfit inspiration just for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me!) who aren’t heading out of the house on Monday morning.  You can check out the other outfits in this series here.

These outfits are perfect for when you want to feel comfortable, yet put together, so that you can face the day and any errands you may need to run.  Plus, most of these outfit formulas can be pulled straight from your closet.  If you don’t have my exact pieces, that’s ok.  Just use one of the substitutions that I recommend.

This past week, my husband Craig took our daughter Aubrey’s senior photos.  Craig is also our family and my blog photographer, in addition to his real full-time job an an engineer.  I sneaked a few outfits into the car during her shoot so we could work in some blog photos.  So for the next few weeks, you’ll get some actual photos, not me taking selfies in the mirror.

I’ll also share some of Aubrey’s pics with you once they’re edited and ready.  We’re really happy with how they turned out! I’m just in absolute shock that she’s graduating in a month. The one thing that’s making all of this a lot easier is that she’s decided to spend a year at home. Over Christmas break she came to us with a tearful confession that she doesn’t feel ready to move away from home yet.  And if she’s not ready, we certainly aren’t.  So she’ll be coaching gymnastics and taking honors courses at the community college her first year. I’m thrilled to get to have her here a bit longer!

Gray Cold Shoulder Top and Yellow Sandals

I went out to do “research” at the mall on pieces to include in the Summer 2017 GYPO Style Challenge and wasn’t planning to buy anything. But then I spied this gray cold shoulder top for just $15! I couldn’t pass up this great deal on such a cute top.
