Best Summer Trends for Your Body Type

By Iesha
Summer is the best time to wear those outfits that you have been dying to wear. You now can break out those bright colors and get away with that dipping neckline. This is the season that I count down to right after it ends.

As the summer season is beginning and new trends are beginning to emerge, you may be wondering what pieces you should snag from your favorite store. Before you make that purchase, make sure that you aren’t buying just anything. Make sure that you buy pieces for your body type, so that you can flaunt your best features and tone down the problem areas that you may think that you’re having.

So first, think of your body type and then take in these tips.

1 — Tall and Slender

When you’re about 5’9” and over and your body shape is in a straight line, the one thing that you want to do is create curves with the clothes you wear.

You can create curves with a skater dress. Pick one out with horizontal lines and one that cinches at the waist. If you wear one that cinches at the bust, it will actually create the look of a longer torso and make you look taller than you already are. So, if that is your goal, then go for it. But with your body type you want to create curves and by cinching the waist and a flared skirt – you are guaranteed to give off a more curvy look.

The horizontal lines help to create curves as well. If you find one that has vertical lines, stay away. Again, the vertical lines create height while the horizontal lines create curves. It’s like an optical illusion.

2 – Petite

There are so many outfits that petite women can wear to focus on exactly what they want to change or improve. But let’s talk about outfits that help to create height.

Summer is all about bright colors and short skirts. But if you’re like me, and don’t want to wear a skirt or dress all season, then kick it up with a romper. You can shop places such as Tobi or Lulu’s to find bright, classy, summer-like rompers that have a short hemline. This short hemline will give off more leg and make the petite girl look so much taller.

If you purchase a romper with a deep V, you will also be elongating your torso and showing off your small physique – one thing that you want definitely want to show off!

3 – Hourglass Shape

If you’re the person who has an hourglass shape, you want to accentuate your waist and slightly lengthen your legs. So what you want to stay away from are dresses and tops that are shaped in a straight line. Don’t be afraid of your curves and try to hide them, I guarantee you that everyone is envious of them anyway.

So you may be asking, what should I wear this summer? Find a wrap top in a pastel color. This top will accentuate your bust and show off the curves at your waist. Pair this top with a dark wash pair of skinny jeans or an A-line skirt. These two bottom pieces will show off the curves you have. Girl, don’t be afraid to flaunt it!
