In a previous blog, I showcased all the wonderful colors of fall that can be seen pretty much everywhere right now and ways to weave them into your closet and your outfit. However, one of the easiest ways to incorporate these great colors into your style is on your nails. In years past it’s been a mix of darker hues with the surprising pops of pastels and brights, but this fall, it’s more about the deep, rich colors. Red is having its moment and has been dubbed the official nail color of fall but it’s not the classic red we’re all familiar with. The on-trend shades of red are deeper, bolder, and lend themselves to variations of burgundies and bordeauxs. I’m also seeing some warm clay reds. Below are 25 nail colors I’m loving this fall. I’m starting off with some fabulous fall collections because it was too hard to just pick one color to showcase. Now the only thing left to figure out is, ‘What color am I going to paint my nails first?’
Fall Collections
These collections are a culmination of all the on-trend colors you’ll see this fall from deep greens, purples, red, and nudes. Which ones are your favorite?
1. OPI Fall ‘21 Downtown LA Collection
2. Essie’s Limited Edition Fall 2021 Collection

Bold Nudes
I know this sounds like an oxymoron, right? How can something be both bold and nude? But fall is taking everything and turning it up a notch. So what is a bold nude anyway? It’s a clean, elegant color, just a bit creamier, possibly with a slight metallic tint. It won’t totally fade into the background but it pales in comparison to the other bold shades of the season. It’s the perfect choice for those who want a color that just whispers, ‘Here I am,’ instead of screams it.
3. Smith and Cult Peaceful Paranoia
4. tenoverten Nail Polish Madison
5. Olive & June Chemistry

Pretty Purples
Purples of all shades are sticking around from last year. It doesn’t matter if it’s light, dark, metallic, or glittered you can’t go wrong with any of them. This is the perfect color as we get closer to Halloween. Amp up your purple manicure with a black glittered accent nail.
6. Butter London Toff
7. Zoya Becca
8. Sally Hansen Plum Euphoria
Pumpkin Spice Good Enough To Drink (But Don’t)
Tis’ the season for pumpkin spice everything! It’s in your coffee, your pastries, your candles, and even your deodorant so why not on your nails? Metallic, burnt orange is my favorite pumpkin spice color. It’s warm and the metallic shimmer is perfect for the sun shinny days with just enough chill in the air to make you put on your favorite cardigan.
9. Smith & Cult Fade The Sun
10. Sally Hansen Color Therapy Soak at Sunset
11. Essie Let It Slide
Gone With The Wind Green
If you’ve ever seen Gone with the Wind, then it’s impossible to forget Scarlett’s famous curtain dress. This season’s nail colors are totally channeling that dress with all the different green hues. I’m seeing deep, rich greens but also a few on the lighter side with golden yellow undertones.
12. Olive & June Geometry
13. Smith & Cult Darjeeling Darling
14. Essie My Happy Bass
Soft (Almost Winter) White
While true, bright white was all the rage this summer, fall is seeing a softer side of this color. From sandy whites to winter whites, the toned-down hues with its ivory undertones give it a warmth that makes it extremely versatile. Not only will it go with everything, but it also looks great on most skin tones.
15. OPI Coastal Sand-tuary
16. Jin Soon Piedra
Wine Anyone?
These deep rich colors are synonymous with fall and this year is no exception. Whatever name it goes by, wine or bordeaux, the result is still the same, a lush color with undertones of red, purple, or even brown. When applying dark polishes be sure to start with a clear base coat to minimize staining and apply in thin layers (no more than three) building them up to a smooth finish.
17. Deborah Lippmann Dark Side Of The Moon
18. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color Zip Wine
19. Jin Soon Audacity
Singing the Blues
No need to actually feel blue, this is another color that isn’t going anywhere this season. I am however seeing one extreme or the other – dark navy or bright blue with a hint of metallic. Navy is extremely versatile and goes with just about anything. Think of it as your dark wash jeans but for your nails. Bright blue is a little harder but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a try. It may turn out to be your new favorite.
20. Essie After School Boy Blazer
21. Zoya Sailor
22. China Glaze Frostbite
Warm Reds
And finally, the warm reds. I think this is my favorite polish color of fall. I love the slightly orange and brown undertones and just the overall softness of these colors. Don’t get me wrong, I’m always a fan of the classic red, but this softer version is a great change-up for this classic color.
