I Feel Pretty | Mother/Daughter Sneakers

Sneakers BothFirst off, let me say thank you all for inspiring this fun monthly mother/daughter style series.  It’s a really cool way for Aubrey and me to bond over fashion.  No sooner do we do one until Aubrey is asking me what the next month’s theme will be!  We both love being able to connect this way and share our style with you.

Today’s styling idea comes courtesy of the Spring Style Challenge participants.  A question that kept coming up in the Facebook group is whether or not sneakers were appropriate for moms of a, umm, certain age and if so, how to pair them up.

To that the answer is a resounding YES!  Wear those sneakers!  They’re just about the perfect kind of footwear – comfy, cute and casual.  If you’re worried that you’ll look like your teenage daughter (or someone else’s), don’t fret.  Aubrey and I both wear them on a regular basis.  Today we’re showing you our favorite ways to pair them up with stripes and colored denim.

I’ve really struggled over the sneaker thing, but right now, my feet are giving me fits, and I have come to terms with the fact that I need to make sneakers look cute b/c I have to wear them. And I have such a casual lifestyle, really, it makes sense. I love those that you are wearing. I’ve been wanting to get Converse, but every time I try them on I feel like my feet look like boats. I read in a style mag last spring that Vans (that look like the old Keds – similar to what you’re wearing) were going to be coming back into vogue. I was hesitant to get a pair but I think I definitely need to take the plunge! They are super cute and don’t make your feet look huge at all. 🙂 Cute post, as always, I love the Mother/Daughter ones!

We can’t be in flats or heels for every occasion and there are so may cute sneakers out there that look great on everyone. I wear my Converse all of the time and really like the Vans and Leopard Sam Edelman that you showed. I have a teenage daughter and am enjoying your Mother/Daughter series!

Keds or sneakers look so comfy, but because as kids we had to wear them so much as part of our school uniform, I cannot look at them anymore..i think they have been ruined for me.. :(. But I absolute adore your and your daughters look..so chic casual and comfy! Thanks for the link up..

The sneaker trend has grown on me…so much. I only have a pair of converse so far but I think I’ll be adding to my collection soon. You can never be too old for sneakers!!! Love seeing how you and your daughter styled these, and by the way I snagged a black tank with white stripes yesterday because of the top you’re wearing. I loved how you styled it with white jeans in the past. 🙂

Those coloured jeans are such nice bright pops of colour.

I unfortunately cannot wear converse or pretty much any kind of flat sneaker. They give me more blisters than a pair of 5 inch heels. I have to wear “real” running shoes that don’t look nearly as cute as these, thus why you never see me in them. I’m be forever searching for the perfect pair of cute runners that don’t bother my feet.

Yes! Love it! Moms/adults have been wearing sneakers long before the kids decided to make them cool. Why should we give them up? You both look great!

I have contemplated getting these exact sneakers for quite some time now. Being on my feet all day with the kiddos requires some comfy shoes, yet I still have to look professional! I might just need to go grab me a pair!

I have had a pair of Chuck Taylor’s for a few years and although I really like them, I have just bought a fun pair of New Balance that I love even more! So many choices that it’s hard to have just one pair!

You and Audrey look so cute in your colored denim, striped tops & super cute sneakers. I am all about cute sneakers, especially as a stay-at-home Mom.

And for some reason at first I didn’t see the link up a few days ago so I am linking up late. But better late than never. I co-hosted with Agnes yesterday so please stop by to link up with us, also. Thanks so much. =)

As usual, you two are beautiful and so cute together! I love the sneakers and both your looks here. I think sneakers can totally make you feel younger, too! Actually, I think you’ve inspired me to get a pair of Keds. My current sneakers I’ve had for 10 years–time for an upgrade!

I really enjoy your mother/daughter series Alison! It just puts a smile on my face to see a mom with her teenage daughter, both so beautiful and smiling!! Great picks for sneaks, and thanks for the sock recommendation because socks that “show” have been the BAIN of my sneaker-wearing existence every spring/summer.
