SAHMonday: Long Cardigan Two Ways + Sneak Peek!

Welcome to another edition of SAHMonday – outfit inspiration just for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me!) who aren’t heading out of the house on Monday morning.  You can check out the other outfits in this series here.

These outfits are perfect for when you want to feel comfortable, yet put together, so that you can face the day and any errands you may need to run.  Plus, most of these outfit formulas can be pulled straight from your closet!

Long Cardigan – Two Ways

You’ve probably noticed that a lot of my outfits lately are reusing pieces from past Style Challenges – like this long cardigan and my ponte leggings.  Today’s post is no exception and includes pieces from the past year of challenges including my white tee and burgundy tunic tee, riding boots and slip on sneakers.  I love having a closet full of mix and match staples that I can always find new ways to pair up.  Just add accessories!

For my first outfit, I paired up my long cardigan with a white slouchy tee, my new light blue corduroy pants and riding boots.  The statement necklace was from the Fall 2017 GYPO Style Challenge but is now sold out, I’ve linked up a similar one.

Outfit #1

Long Cardigan + White Tee + Statement Necklace + Corduroy Pants + Riding Boots

Sizing Tip:  This cardigan runs big, order down a size.  I’m wearing an XS.

This is my first pair of ear climbers and I’m totally in love with them!  They pair perfectly with statement necklaces.

For a more casual look you can remove the statement necklace and replace it with a pendant necklace, or skip both!

Outfit #2

Long Cardigan + Burgundy Tunic Tee + Ponte Leggings + Slip on Sneakers

This outfit is what I’ve been wearing lately for doing my Christmas decorating. There’s nothing comfier than a cardigan, tunic t-shirt and leggings.  Add black slip on sneakers and a long necklace to complete it out.

It took my daughter and me about 5 hours but we finally got our big tree up and decorated yesterday.  We’ve been slowly getting decorated since before Thanksgiving.

Sneak Peek – Leopard and Plaid!

Plaid Blouse + Corduroy Pants + Pearl Statement Necklace + Leopard Ankle Boots

OK, I’m cheating but here’s a sneak peek from this Wednesday’s post where I’m pairing up plaid with leopard to create two casual holiday appropriate outfits.  I couldn’t possibly love this plaid blouse more!  The gray cords add a little texture to it and the leopard ankle booties are perfect for pattern mixing with plaid.

I am LOVING the long cardi- super cute! But, I am short- 5’2. I would look like I am drowning (or at least wearing a cute but not very luxurious bathrobe haha)! How do you style a long cardigan like that when height is not on your side?

    • Amy Botts Strickland

My mom is shorter than that and she bought a petite in small at the Loft and it worked out for her.

      • Sona Bran

That works if you are not curvy, most petites are for small people in both directions 🙂

    • Hi Meredith. I’m barely 5’4″ and it is pretty long. Wearing it with heeled ankle boots helps and also keeping it paired up with slim fitting bottoms like leggings or skinny jeans keeps the proportions right.

  • Long cardis are seriously the coziest this time of year. I am short and still love wearing long ones!

  • I love the plaid blouse. It’s not in the winter gypo is it? Maybe I missed it. Of course I think all of these looks are fab.

PS I’m getting a lot of wear from the LE parka already .

  • Alison, I love the cardigan. This is my favorite length of cardigan because it is super cozy and flatters every shape! Your tree is stunning. And I was so inspired by your plaid and leopard that I put on Buffalo plaid pants today with a leopard scarf. Thanks for linking up with me!

  • I’ve been loving the long cardigans lately, and this is the perfect way to make them versatile!!

I bought a super cute long cardi a few weeks ago, really coming into it’s own now. A perfect cover up and warm cardi for all seasons. x Jacqui
