Easy Outfits | How to Wear Printed Pants

Want to instantly update your work wear wardrobe?  Just add printed pants.

Solid black, khaki and navy pants and skirts have long been the (yawn, boring) standard for work wear. But your tops shouldn’t get to have all of the fun.  Today I’m going to show you two easy ways to pair up printed bottoms.

If this trend is slightly outside of your comfort zone, start out with a pair in neutral colors with a smaller print.  You can work your way up to bolder colors and bigger patterns from there.

I highly recommend a slim fitting ankle pant.  They flatter all body types and give your work wear a more modern silhouette.

1. Keep it Simple.

Pair your printed pants up with a simple solid blouse that you can leave out or tuck in.  Add a long necklace and low heel for a work wear look that’s sure to wow.

2. Mix it Up.

Subtle pattern mixing gives your basics, like a white button down and cardigan,  a fresh new look.  Leopard plays well with others and works with just about any other print.

Blazer (Optional) + Solid Blouse + Jeans + Long Necklace + Leopard Flats

If there’s a chill in the air add the blazer for a polished Kate Middleton look.  But this outfit stands on it’s own just as well without it.

Work Wear Tip of the Day: Even though today is the last day of outfits, you can start the challenge all over again for three more weeks and add in your own ways to switch up the outfits.  Swap in some of your favorite pieces from your closet or add in new items to stretch these work wear essentials even further.

Light Blue Oxford + Statement Necklace + Printed Pants + Bright Flats

The shirt can be worn tucked in or out with this outfit. A fitted oxford looks great untucked.

Work Wear Tip of the Day: Statement necklaces can be worn under or over the collar of your favorite button down.  Try it both ways and see which one you prefer.

Cardigan + Printed Button Down + Jeans + Statement Earrings + Bright Flats

Layering button downs with cardigans are a great way to always look put together in a business casual office.  This look is just as great with jeans as it is with dressier pants.

Work Wear Tip of the Day:  This outfit features two bold colors – cobalt blue and red.  It’s perfectly fine to combine colors like this for the office as long as you keep the rest of the look neutral.

Cardigan + White Button Down + Khaki or Gray Pants + Leopard Belt + Black Heels or Flats

Today’s outfit can be worn one of two ways – with the shirt tucked in, cardigan open and belt on the pants or with the cardigan buttoned up and the belt worn around it at the waist.  Try it both ways and see which one you like best.

Work Wear Tip of the Day: Stash a pair of comfy flats in your purse on the days you wear heels.  You can swap them out while driving or any time your feet need a break.
