Spring 2018 Denim Trends: 5 Pairs to Try

Last Friday I did a Facebook Live about spring 2018 denim trends.  Jeans are one of my favorite fashion topics because I wear them almost every day of my life. I’m more excited about denim this season than I have been in a very long time. There are some really wearable trends on the horizon to update your jeans collection.

Spring 2018 denim trends are all about the details. The past few years have been about taking our classic basics (like a basic t-shirt) and giving them fun little updates – like ruffles and knotted hems.  This year it’s denim’s turn to have a little fun. Here are five spring 2018 denim trends to have on your radar.

Spring 2018 Denim Trends

1. Dotted Denim

Why I Love it: A subtle dot pattern is whimsical but remains age appropriate and classic.

Pair it With:  Try a poppy red top and leopard flats or a springy striped blouse with red mules for a perfect pattern mix.

2. Side Stripe

Why I Love it:  This super slimming look creates a nipped in illusion.

Pair it With:  This trend calls for pattern.  Try a boldly patterned or floral blouse with tie sleeve details.

3. Embroidered

Why I Love it: This style is carrying over from last fall so we get another season worth of wear from it!

Pair it With: A blush sweatshirt and mules with rose gold accessories.

4. Button Cuffs

Why I Love it: This throwback style reminds me of my childhood.  The buttons add a fun detail at the ankle.

Pair it With: A side tied floral blouse and blush mules make black completely spring-appropriate.

5. Tulip Hem

Why I Love it: This is a super cute and unexpected detail.

Pair it With: The hem on this ruffle wrap top mimics the tulip hem on the jeans. Finish it out with red mules.

Oh the dotted denim is so adorable! I have not seen this trend yet but I love it. I have a pair of jeans with a star print and a pair with tiny little hearts, but dots I would really love! Thanks for sharing this denim round up, Alison. So great!

All of these are so cute! Can’t wait to get a couple of these. Thank you for the outfit ideas!

Are bootcut jeans completely out of style? I love bootcut, but sure don’t see many of them being styled right now!

Thanks Annalisa. I haven’t seen many pairs of bootcut in the trends for spring. Although I do feel that this is a classic cut and flatters most body types. If you love them, you can definitely keep wearing them.

Great little guide. I could totally get behind a few of the trends but the two-tone stripe look and also the buttons are super cute. Now to decide we hich ones to add to my closet.

I got the jeans with the tuxedo stripe from Loft. They are so cute (but don’t fit me all that great…curvy girl here). Love the dots too!!!

I’m pretty stick-with-one-fit when it comes to denim (I almost always wear a straight leg), but I love all of these cute tops to wear with them!

I’ve been looking to update my denim but can’t seem to find anything quite right. I love the dotted jeans and the button cuffs.
