Eight Fall Wardrobe Refreshers

[1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8]

Feeling a little behind on your fall wardrobe shopping?  Never fear, I’ve done all the work for you!

Today, I’m featuring my eight picks to refresh your fall wardrobe.  Rather than going with the latest trends, I stayed with classic pieces that you’ll love past this season.  Each of these pieces was hand selected based upon three criteria:  Versatility, Reviews and Affordability.  Want some inspiration for pairing them up?  Then be sure to check out Seven Days of Fall Outfits using these pieces, you won’t want to miss it!

Eight Pieces to Add to Your Fall Wardrobe

1.  Updated Classic Blazer
Alison’s Pick:  Modern Lit Lecturer Blazer
This brown and black herringbone blazer features elbow patches at a great price.  One reviewer said “the little details on this blazer are what make it special. I love the flap pockets and the elbow patches! The fabric is of good quality and it’s warm enough for spring and autumn.”
2.  Plaid Button Down
Alison’s Pick:  Seasonably Warm Top
The beautiful spice colors in this plaid tunic make it perfect for wearing alone or layered under a jacket or sweater.
3.  Comfy Lightweight Neutral Sweater
Alison’s Pick:  Rubbish Slub V-neck Sweater
A reviewer loved the lightweight and long relaxed fit of this sweater that comes in five different colors.  Perfect for layering with tees, camis and button downs.
4.  Fall Scarf
Every girl needs a scarf featuring fall’s prettiest hues.  This is THE ONE.
5.  Leopard Flats

Alison’s Pick:  Sperry Top-Sider Bliss Leopard Print

Yes, leopard flats made my short list once again this season.  Invest in a good pair that holds up because this trend isn’t going anywhere soon.  These Sperry’s have 5 stars and 45 reviews.  One reviewer said, “These are the cutest flats ever! Bought them for a trip to Paris so needed something good for walking all over the city but still stylish.  These were comfy right out of the box and after wearing them all day long. The tassels and hardware add the “wow factor.”
6.  Lighter Wash Boyfriend Jeans
These light wash boyfriend jeans have slight distressing and just the right amount of slouch.  Better yet, they’re on sale right now.  Regularly $69.95, on sale for $48.96.

7.  Dark Wash Skinny Jeans

Alison’s Pick:  Wit & Wisdom Denim Leggings

These jeans have 76 reviews and almost 5 stars.  Reviews said “Higher waistline, extremely comfortable, my go-to jeans, runs a size big, medium weight more like a jean, not a legging, dark wash is super slimming, bought a second pair just in case they stopped making them.”  Regularly $64.00, on sale for $42.88.

8.  Neutral Suede Ankle Boots

Alison’s Pick:  Crown Vintage Tabitha Bootie

Short heel, great color (goes with everything), real suede at a great price.  A reviewer said “these are quickly becoming my go-to shoe as I transition into fall. They are easy to wear with jeans, skirts, and dresses. I was nervous that the heel would be uncomfortable or challenging to walk in, but it’s very easy! The heel is the width of the shoe, so I feel supported when walking. I would recommend sizing down a half size if you plan to wear them with only thin socks. Thick socks or with an insole, get your regular size. With the insole added, I am comfortable wearing these through an 8 hour work shift (retail, all standing) and then walking several miles. Would highly recommend!”

I Feel Pretty | Fummer

I Feel Pretty | Fummer

I’m SO excited to bring you a VERY special guest model/stylist on the blog today.  Meet my niece, Lauren!

She’s bringing us three different looks for that awkward transitional time of the year she likes to call “Fummer” – not quite fall, not quite summer.

By adding just one single layer, her base pieces from ASOS are doing double duty as both summer and fall outfits.

Black-White-Shorts-Blazer-Fall[Blazer: c/o  ASOS/Shorts: c/o  ASOS/Blouse: c/o  ASOS/Watch:  Michael Kors/Heels:  BCBGeneration]

A HUGE thanks to Lauren for styling these outfits and showing us how to get more use out of what we already have.  Fummer doesn’t have to be a fashion bummer!

Collab | White Denim for Fall

Collab | White Denim for Fall

Just because Labor Day is right around the corner doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing your white jeans.  Throw out the old style rules – white denim is perfectly acceptable throughout fall and winter.  And super chic too!  Cozy it up with some layers and you have a look that’s simply perfect no matter the weather.

Today I’m collaborating with Simply Lulu Style to bring you our takes on transitioning white denim from summer to fall.  Lulu is the gorgeous and stylish mama of boy/girl twins behind the blog Simply Lulu Style.  I love her mix of simple, chic, preppy and trendy that she brings to every one of her looks.  She shares daily inspiration on her blog on how to feel and look more beautiful – perfect for us busy moms.  Be sure to stop by and visit her at Simply Lulu Style for her outfit details.

On another note, I could use some virtual mama hugs today.  Our oldest headed out the door this morning for his first day of senior year – his last first day of school.  It’s seems like just yesterday that he was strapping on his big boy backpack and I was fighting back tears on his first day of kindergarten.  🙁  My heart is hurting but I’m SO proud of him.

It’s Your Turn:  Do you plan to continue wearing white denim after Labor Day?  Tell me in the comments!
