Does this outfit make me look smarter? Yes! I thought so too.
Or maybe it’s not the outfit at all.
Maybe it’s my new tortoise shell frames from online glasses retailer Firmoo. When Firmoo offered to send me a free pair of frames to test out and review on my blog, I was all over it. They have so many great pairs to choose from, I couldn’t decide! But their Virtual Try On feature allowed me to upload my photo and pick this square tortoise shell pair. According to Firmoo, 98% of their customers who use the Virtual Try On tool are satisfied with their glasses pick. Count me among the 98%!

Ordering was super easy and they got here in just a few days. Perfect timing too. My lens prescription recently changed and I hadn’t yet ordered a new pair of glasses. The minute I got them, I had to try them on. They fit perfectly – sizing is easy on their web site.
Do you want a free pair too? Of course you do!
Even if you don’t wear prescription lenses, you can get a free pair of non-prescription fashion frames (a la Taylor Swift) or sunglasses. Their fun frames come in classic, modern, vintage, geek chic and hipster styles. And these make great (and did I mention free?) Christmas gifts too!
Firmoo has launched it’s First Pair Free Program worldwide. You will absolutely fall in love with the excellent quality, affordable prices, fashionable designs, fast delivery and great customer service after trying them with paying shipping only! You can even get a refund or exchange if you are not satisfied with them. It’s totally risk free, so why not have a try? Visit their web site and get your free pair today at http://www.firmoo.com/free-glasses.html.
Black + Brown
The black and brown in my Firmoo tortoise shell frames inspired today’s look. If you would’ve told me a few years back that I would mix black and brown in an outfit I would’ve said “shut the front door!”. But I’ve really come around on it. I mean, REALLY. It looks smart and fresh and oh so of the moment. Just remember to keep your browns light (taupe, caramel or cognac, not chocolate) to successfully pull off this look.

I got the following e-mail through the Get Your Pretty On Facebook page yesterday from one of my best friends from high school.
Alison – First, let me say. I love this blog! Keep it up, I look forward to reading your posts. I need some fashion advice. I bought a cream/off white fleece vest at Land’s End. What would you suggest pairing with it? Take care, Amy
Aww, Amy, thanks for the blog love! And you don’t have to ask me twice. I’d love to show you a few different ways to pair it up. A fleece vest in a neutral color is a great outfit builder!
Look 1 – Color it up! Pair it up with some colored denim, a striped top and a colorful scarf with ankle boots. Add a splash of bright color to any dreary winter day with this fun look.
Look 2 – Dress it up! Try it over a sweater dress with patterned tights and riding boots. The sweater dress and tights make the fleece vest office appropriate.
Look 3 – Layer it up! Use the fleece vest as your final layer over a plaid shirt and cableknit sweater. Pair with laid back jeans and lace-up booties for an outdoorsy vibe.
It’s Your Turn: Do you have a piece of clothing or accessory that you’d like me to pair up? Submit your question HERE and it could be answered in the next “Ask Alison”!

Ohh, the possibilities! This flirty dress could stand alone for any New Year’s Eve soiree. Or pair it with bright tights, flats and a cardigan for an unexpected and fun dressed-down look for daytime.
[Sparkle Bib Necklace: JCP – $20]
Must. Have. NOW. I can’t tell you how much I adore this outfit maker. Display it against a simple white crewneck sweater paired with some black cigarette pants and heels for an effortlessly chic ensemble.

Uh oh, I’m obsessed with my new plum corduroys. Which means you’re going to be seeing them in lots and lots of outfits. They might just warrant their own series like my red jeans did. You can check out The Red Denim Diaries to see the looks those jeans have been featured in.
But today, my red jeans are green with envy over the plum perfection I’ve discovered. These skinny plum corduroys from Kut from the Kloth are lightweight, super comfortable and have the perfect amount of stretch. They’ve already made it through my outfit rotation a few times even though I’ve only had them for two weeks.
Here’s how I paired them up for a casual date night with my hubby.

I always love “falling back” – the extra hour of sleep, cozy evenings at home when it gets dark early and the promise of some cooler weather in Texas.
Yesterday was one of those fall Texas days where it’s cool in the morning but warms up nicely by afternoon. I wasn’t quite sure what to wear for church. But layers seem to always work this time of year.
I’ve been dying to style my chambray shirt dress for fall. First, I tried tights under it and a cardigan over it. Close but not quite right. Then I pulled out my new button boot socks and riding boots and threw on this scarf. But it still needed something. The cozy knit sweater vest was the perfect final layer. Just light enough, yet warm enough.
