Stripes + Animal Print

Stripes + Animal Print

Inspired by this fabulous print mixing post by the mother/daughter duo over at H&K Style Journey, I decided to take a baby step into the trend today.  I’m not a fashion risk-taker and admit to being a little too “matchy-matchy” with some of my past outfit choices.  But this trend looks like a lot of fun so I thought, why the heck not?

This shirt and these jeans have been paired up before but usually with my black loafers.  Yawn, boring.  The animal print flats are so much more fun and unexpected.   I’m really digging stripes with animal print.

This outfit screams for something red, don’t you think? I found this necklace that I bought two years ago on an anniversary trip to Mexico. My hubby and I traipsed all over Playa del Carmen until I found it. Guess how many times I’ve worn it since then? Two, including today. I’m not sure why, I’ve always loved it.

These poor leopard print flats get worn out. They just happen to go with everything!

It’s Your Turn:  Are you on board with the mixing patterns trend?  What’s your favorite way to mix it up?

Colored Denim + Color Blocking = Two Trends that Work Great Together

These brightly colored jeans have inspired me to add more color into my mostly neutral wardrobe. The two trends work together because they are balanced out by the solid neutral tee, cardigan and shoes.  When I threw this outfit on this morning, my hubby really liked it so it gets to be featured today.

I’ve been dying to wear scarves again.  Fall has finally arrived in Texas.  Want to know how we know when it’s fall here?  When the temp drops 40 degrees in one day!  Yes, that really happened.  Brr…

My favorite neutral accessory is our family’s real super-model Bailey the Golden Retriever.  She goes with everything, don’t ya think?
