Three Easy Wedding Looks to Love

We’ve got a wedding in the family very soon and I couldn’t be more excited!

My niece is getting married in New Orleans at the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter.  In traditional New Orleans fashion, the wedding party and guests will be led by a “second line” brass band parade through the streets on the way to the reception.  It’s going to be amazing!

Did I mention that I’m a wee bit excited?

Needless to say, I’ve been in a dress ordering frenzy.  Since I haven’t had much time to shop in stores, I’ve just had them delivered to my door.  After four failed attempts, I think I’ve finally found “the one”.

In the process of deciding on what to wear, I came up with three easy looks that you can copy and wear to your next wedding.

A lace sheath dress gets updated with a fun pop of color.  Finish it out with neutral accessories for a classic look that’s still fresh and modern.

This easy, breezy look is perfect for a casual afternoon or beach wedding.

Formal doesn’t have to be boring.  As a matter of fact it can be downright glamorous in this one-shoulder stunner with gold accessories.

As for what I’m wearing?  Well, you’ll have to wait and see.  I’ll be posting pics on Instagram from the wedding.  🙂

  • I love all of your selections! Especially the maxi! I wont be attending any weddings this summer but I am so excited to see pictures of your niece’s! Sounds amazing! Susan

    • So glad you stopped by Susan.

  • Cherylynn

Hi Allison! I am actually getting married in August, small backyard affair, and guess what I’m wearing?! My white lace dress and natural wedges from summer challenge! Thank you for giving me the courage to buy, wear and LOVE something I wouldn’t have considered before, and get married in it no less!

    • I’m so excited for you Cherylynn. Congratulations! Please share pictures.

  • Laurie

I love all of the selections but would probably go with either the classic or the formal, but that is just me. I do not have a summer wedding but my niece is getting married outdoors in October. I already have the dress; found it on a clearance rack for $35. Can’t wait to see your pictures!

    • Wonderful find Laurie!

  • Jeannie Sloop

I love the classic look. I have a wedding coming up in October and I think that dress would work for me. When I clicked on the dress link it took me to a dress that looks similar but it’s not an exact match. Do you have a link for the dress in the photo?

    • Jeannie, it’s been sold out. I found it months ago online.

  • Pam Priester

LOVE these suggestions!!! I love the orange/coral dress in the classic ensemble, but the link goes to a different (lovely!) dress at Nordstrom. Do you happen to know the name of the one you have shown? Thank you!

    • Stephanie

Pam – I think that is an Adrianna Papell dress. 6pm.com seems to have it in Orange, or Nordstrom has a few other colors.

      • You are so sweet to help out Stephanie.

  • Jeannine

Hi Alison! Perfect timing! I have a formal summer wedding and have really been at a loss! I love the 1 shoulder from Nordstrom. The midnight blue color is stunning! I love the shoes too! What color clutch would you suggest- gray?

    When is your wedding?

    • Yes, gray would be beautiful!

  • LOVE the dress in the classic look! You have the best suggestions 🙂

  • Love the coral lace! Can’t wait to see your pics on ig!!!!

  • These are all perfect summer wedding looks, love that first sheath with the pretty gold accessories! Have a great weekend Alison:)

    • Thank you Marta. Have a great weekend!

  • I would love to see myself draped in your ‘casual’ wedding look. It looks really breezy and easy!
