A Summer Recap and an Irresistible Dress

I don’t know about you but this is the time of year that I get stuck in my worst wardrobe rut.  Honestly some days I fantasize about piling all of my shorts and tank tops in the fire pit and lighting them up!

Of course the far less drastic and more practical thing would be to box it all up and put it in the storage closet until next year. Unfortunately, the weather isn’t quite having that yet.

Before I whisk summer away as a mere hot memory, I thought it would be fun to recap what went on in the Lumbatis family during summer 2015.

If this summer had a theme for us, it would be travel.  We took five trips total, three of which were road trips.  We drove to Kentucky for Breyerfest for our 11 year old’s birthday, moved our son into LSU and went to our niece’s wedding in New Orleans and took a quick weekend getaway for our anniversary.  We also spent a week in Mexico for our family vacation in June and I took a business trip to Australia at the end of July.  All of that traveling was fun, but also an exhausting whirlwind.  I’m looking forward to staying home for awhile, keeping my butt out of a car seat and getting back into a routine.

Here’s a quick Instagram look back at our summer.

It’s been a long time since I’ve done an outfit post but the minute I bought this dress, I knew I had to.  It was for my business meetings in Australia but it’s proven to be a great transition piece that works for so much more.  Even though I went with a dressier styling of it for this post, it works equally well with gold sandals for a more laid back look.

  2. I loved seeing all these pictures., and I love your dress! It sounds like you had a great summer with your family. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Allison you are beautiful inside and out. I know what you mean about summer clothes but this dress is perfect for the summer boredom. You have a lovely family and thank you for sharing your pictures with us.

  4. love that dress on you!! looking great as always.

I feel the same about my clothes near the end of summer… makes me that much more excited for the fall challenge!

  5. Sounds like a fun summer! I like the maxi dress you wore in Mexico in addition to the featured dress, i wore a knit geometric dress to a wedding in May.

  6. What a gorgeous dress! I love the pattern and style. It looks like you had quite the busy summer filled with lots of travel. I would say the theme of our summer was transitions. Our youngest just graduated from college, came home to live for the summer, then we helped him, and our daughter and son-in-law moved out of state….over twenty one hours away. There was a lot of preparation to the move.

  7. I hope your son loves LSU as much as my daughter does. The last few years have been great for her. She has made a lot of good friends and memories there.

  8. I can so relate about the summer clothes, lol! I have made quite a bit of purchases for Fall and feel like they are all teasing me. Still near 90’s predicted for the next 10 day forecast here in VA. I have been indulging by playing in my closet and making several combinations of outfits to try as soon as the weather permits… Closet Therapy at it’s finest.

Love the dress and those shoes!

  9. This made me laugh out loud! I almost feel like burning my summer things too but it’s just too dang hot to start the fire, lol. Love seeing your photos! I never got to ask you if the Barceló was still as good as it was when we were there? Counting the days until the fall challenge . . . . ! xo, Andrea

  10. Wow…that dress is absolutely stunning! I still love summer…being able to wear sandals and not freezing my tookus off! Besides I feel like the inside of most building are cold enough to be like fall and layer ( I bring a jacket or sweater for the inside, not outside–ha ha). jodie

  11. Oooh, as an energy healer, that Chakra necklace is right up my alley. Next little gift to myself, I think.

  12. I love that dress- but I really love the maxi in your Mexico picture! Do you have a link for that one? I saw a bunch of cute ones at Anthropologie earlier in the season that were similar- not as bright and I love the bright colors!
