I Feel Pretty | Simplified

October was quite possibly the busiest month of my life.  There really is such a thing as having too much good going on.  Don’t get me wrong, I feel incredibly blessed during this season of my life.  But wow, do I ever need to find some balance before the holidays hit!

Simplification has been the name of the game lately.  The only way to do a lot WELL is to keep it simple sweetie.  Especially when it comes to getting dressed.

This outfit is the perfect example.  Start with two neutrals – black and beige – and repeat.

Simple, right?

My new polka dot infinity scarf from Leslia NYC was the inspiration for this outfit.  I picked it out first, then repeated the colors to build around it.

Black and Beige Scarf Today’s star of the show outfit piece is my new black and cream polka dot infinity scarf courtesy of Leslia NYC.  I love the generous size and microfiber feel of this outfit maker.

  1. I am still learning the art of simplistic dressing. I love pairing black with tan and I am enjoying mixing sweaters with plaid tops this fall. I have been searching for a good pair of denim lately. Do you recommend the Mossimo ones you are wearing. They look great! And I love the scarf and bag! Wallis has so many fabulous, classic items! Blessings! I linked up today with some fun patterned leggings! Susan

    1. Hi Susan – I’ve had these Mossimo jeans for three years and they’re still my favorite pair of black jeans. They’re fading a bit now due to their age but holding up well otherwise! I would definitely recommend them. 🙂

  2. always a fan of starting with a great scarf or statement necklace and keeping the rest simple and i do love me some polka dots! you look chic and polished alison, just gorgeous as always.

  3. I love the colour combo. It is true that sometimes simple is best but it is also true that often it is hard to convince my brain of that : )

  4. Perfect outfit for so many things! I’m usually rushing and the last one in the family to get dressed so I do a lot of neutral clothes and boots. Patterned scarves in small prints are an easy way for me to “do something” with my look. I like this cardigan, too.

  5. Gorgeous look, Alison, I am a fan of black and beige, it always has this classy touch.
I would call it “effortless chic” and love your look – already pinned it onto my “Favourite Blogger Looks” 🙂

  6. October was super busy for me, too! And it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any this month! I absolutely love your neutrals and the polka dot scarf!! Perfection for simplifying things! 🙂

  7. I often start dressing with “I want to wear………today, what will go with it?” A scarf is a perfect piece to start with because it sets your color pallet and makes decisions easier. LOVE your neutral look today! So chic. 🙂

  8. When I want a quick, polished look I pair a crisp collar blouse with a cardigan or jacket. Then I add slacks, jeans, or pencil skirt as the occasion calls for. Love your scarf! ~Ann

  9. Sometimes keeping it neutral and simple ends up being some of the best looks….just like this one. I love every inch! And I hope November slows down for you and that you get some R&R! 🙂 I know how you feel!

  10. Love how you styled and mixed the patterns. Your purse is amazing. What a great purchase.

    Happy Friday! 🙂

  11. Hi, Alison! This is my first time visiting here and linking up. I LOVE polka dots and stripes together! That infinity scarf is adorable! This outfit is one I would definitely wear….love everything about it! Thanks for hosting your link-up party. I’m a new follower!

  12. I’m the worst at simplifying. It usually comes off as looking lazy, i.e. jeans and a t-shirt. We don’t go out a lot and I don’t like getting “dressed” to run errands so I need to find a simple, easy look that doesn’t make me feel overdressed. It’s ridiculous, I know.
