The Next Thing You Need | A Perfect Bootie

Today I’m going to get a little bit pushy with you.  Sorry, it’s a character flaw.  When I get passionate, I get pushy.  And this is something I’m really passionate about.

If you’re looking for just ONE investment piece for fall/winter, I have it for you.  Last year I made the investment in a classic pair of Frye riding boots and it was the best fashion decision I’ve ever made.

They are the most beautiful, well-made boots I’ve ever owned and let’s just talk about their versatility for a minute.  They go with virtually everything.  I seriously had to work hard to find other boots to wear with my outfits because I wanted to wear these every single day.

Here are a few of my favorite looks featuring my Frye’s.

Frye Riding Boots Outfits Yes, I know they’re pricey.  Far more than I normally spend on an item.  But they’ve been worth every single penny, especially on a cost per wear basis.

Go ahead and order them today, Zappos will even ship them for free (that’s where I got mine).  The color of mine is cognac but they come in 12 gorgeous colors.  The hardest part is deciding which one.

OK, stepping off the soapbox now for today’s regularly scheduled post.  🙂

As I said earlier I had to work hard to wear other boots last fall/winter.  What I really wanted was a new pair of ankle boots but never did find the perfect pair.  My mission this fall is to find “the one”.

I won’t be making as much of an investment to find the perfect bootie because they’re a trendier item.  Don’t get me wrong – ankle boots are here to stay – the styles just change a lot from season to season.

This week I rounded up some of my favorite ankle boots for under $100.

Ankle Boots for Fall 2013

1.  Addison Bootie – Gorgeous oxblood color with a wedge heel.

2.  Honor Bootie – Fun snake print heel in a very wearable neutral.

3.  Karin Platform Bootie – Statement making color at a steal, under $50!

4.  Jody Bootie – Casual perfection.  This bootie goes with everything.

5.  Most Wanted Bootie – Perforation and button details add a little sass to basic black.

6.  Helena Bootie – Beautiful shape, perfect with dresses.

It’s Your Turn:  Have you found the perfect bootie yet?  If so, share it in the comments!

  1. Alison! I agree 100%!!! Everybody needs a bootie! (My bootie post is scheduled for Tuesday in fact!) And I’m with Shay, the Helena is my favorite! People! Go buy a bootie!!!!!! 🙂

  2. I have always wanted a pair of Frye boots! I may just add these to my Christmas list! I love the Addison booties! I just ordered a pair of black booties from Target and can’t wait to wear them! Susan

  3. I have 3 pair of booties. lol But, I’m not in love with any of them. Maybe I’m just not styling them right? I plan to wear them with jeans this fall, skinny and boyfriend. I’ve worn them with dresses a couple of times, but it doesn’t feel quite right. Working on the confidence to keep trying to pull it off. 😉

  4. Ah ode Frye boots… If only Zappos offered free shipping to Turkey! I did find me a cute pair of booties the other day, so Im a little bit ready for Fall. 🙂

  5. Love the Helena booties! Luckily I have got brown and black booties from last year which I took to the cobbler’s shop yesterday to get them overhauled and ready as I will surely need them in the near future.
I am looking for new black boots with a mid heel so I can wear my dresses when it gets colder.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment today, Alison. Alena arrived safely in London!

  6. I desperately need a great bootie to wear with dresses! I have one similar to the Helena but feel like its kind of dressy to wear with casual dresses so I need another option. Love your Frye boots! I invested in a pair of Melani boots and have almost worn right through them after only one season!

  7. I love boots! Last year I invested in my first pair of Frye boots and I agree, they are so worth it! The quality is outstanding and they are so classic. Have a great weekend!

  8. I have the Frye Melissa Button in an antique finish, and they’re my absolute favorite pair of boots! Like, ever! Love your bootie picks too!

  9. The Frye riding boots are definitely cute and versatile. Cute looks with how you styled them. I just purchased some ankle boots from Target. It comes in both taupe and black and has a wraparound strap. 🙂

  10. I think husband would kill me if I bought one more pair of boots, but maybe he won’t notice when I do LOL
Found my booties for this fall already, can’t wait for the weather to get cooler

  11. The Frye boots are gorgeous!! I recently bought the Sole Society bootie #1 in black. I thought it wasn’t too daring. Plus, with three little kids I need function too!!

  12. Alison – you look great in all the looks! I am in need of a new pair of riding boots! Thank you so much for linking up with What I’m Loving Fridays! Hope to see you back again!

  13. Last year, I really tried to find a pair of riding boots for the season, but every pair I tried on didn’t look right–I felt like I was wearing wading boots, they didn’t look proportional. I looked like a kid who stepped into my Mom’s shoes! I don’t know if maybe my legs are a little too short for the standard riding boot proportions or what…but for now, I think I’ll stick to ankle height or maybe mid-calf boots!

  14. This post was great and so helpful. I am currently looking for some Booties to add to my closet. I’d love a Black Pair and a Brown Pair. =)

Thanks so much for linking up with Agnes and I today. Check out what I am wearing. =)

  15. After your Blush Jeans post, I could not stop thinking about them and bought that pair from Loft, along with the lace-front sweatshirt in black (at the time I didn’t even realize the sweatshirt was part of your post!) I think searched high and low for a casual black suede bootie and after much deliberation, got these Vince Camuto’s from Macy*s:

    Thanks for your help!

  16. I don’t know how I missed this post! I’m actually on a mission now to find the perfect pair of booties. I’ve already picked out all sorts of outfits I can wear them with, but after trying on a couple pairs at Target today I was disappointed. The ones I tried on were super cute and not too high (I really don’t want more than a 2″ heel), but even with the ankle socks on, I could still see my socks when I looked down. I’m hoping maybe the Target booties were just too big around the ankle for me. They also weren’t the most comfortable, so I’m still going to look around for another pair. Which ones did you end up getting?
