For the most part, I am a planner. I like to know what’s going on and I couldn’t live without my calendar. Unfortunately, with everything that has been going on, I didn’t get to plan any summer trips to visit my sister and her family. She only lives a few hours away but between quarantine and slowly easing back into some sense of a new normal, we just couldn’t seem to make a weekend visit work. Then, with some canceled plans and Walmart’s new Express delivery we were able to make a last-minute visit super easy and a huge success.
Last Friday I was updating my calendar when I realized our Saturday plans had been canceled meaning our entire weekend was now open. A call to my sister revealed that they were also free and we quickly hashed out a plan to get together. She immediately started prepping for our arrival and I started packing. This seemed like the perfect time to try out Walmart’s Express delivery and after seeing it was available in her area, I told her not to worry about getting any groceries because I would take care of that.
We hopped in the car and after figuring out a menu for the weekend, I hopped on my phone. Placing my Express delivery order was super easy. I went to the website grocery.walmart.com signed into my account and changed the delivery address to my sister’s. The minimum amount required for this service is $35 but that wasn’t hard to reach once I started adding the essential food items to my cart such as coffee (a must), milk, and some muffins for breakfast. I also added items we could easily put on the grill for dinner, snacks for the kids, and even some fun surprises for my almost two-year-old nephew. Did I mention that I was able to add the Children’s Benadryl I forgot to pack? The best part, all these items would be delivered straight to her door in 2 hours or less!
We finally pulled into her driveway, said our hellos, and unloaded our stuff. Minutes later I was alerted that our items were out for delivery and I was able to track the driver. It had been about an hour and a half since the order was placed, perfect timing! The driver, Dan, was really nice and set all the bags on the table on her side porch making it totally contactless. To say this service is a convenience was an understatement. Instead of running around and deciding who was going to stay with the kids and who was going to run to the store, we got to spend the time catching up, laughing, and watching the kids play.
I absolutely love that Walmart’s Express delivery isn’t just about groceries, it’s about anything you may need last minute like diapers, OTC medicines, personal care, back to school supplies, electronics and more! Express delivery is available from 10 am – 6 pm local time. There is an additional express fee on top of the standard delivery fee of $10 however you still pay the same price per item that you would in-store.
A huge thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post and their Express delivery for making a last-minute trip such a success! Having our groceries delivered in 2 hours or less was a huge time saver and very convenient. I have no doubt that I will be using this service again!
