Alison’s Friday Favorites

It’s Fri-YAY!  Time for another round of my favorite things this week.  Let’s just jump right in!

Favorite #1 – Cheer Competition

We are right in the thick of competitive cheer competition season.  My daughter’s team competed at ACA Nationals last weekend in Fort Worth and won first place in their division!  They were pretty proud of those hard earned jackets.  We have another competition coming up this weekend.

Favorite #2 – Simple Outfits

This was my idea of “spirit wear” for the first day of the competition.  We have team t-shirts but it was cold so I opted to wear a sweater instead.  Their team color is teal so at least my teal cords were “on point”.  🙂

BREAKING NEWS!  These cords are now ON SALE for just $15.88!  Most sizes are still in stock, get them while you can.  I have them in teal, winter white and gray.  Here’s a pic so you can see all three.

Favorite #3 – Wayfair

January seems to be my month for making over rooms in our house.   Last year, we brought the formal living/dining area into this decade and this year it’s our bedroom.

It’s a work in progress but so far, I’ve gotten a new bed and nightstands.  Just about everything that I’ve gotten so far has been from Wayfair. I love them SO much more than traditional furniture stores.  The shipping is fast and free and they have an amazing selection.  There are links below to a few items I’ve gotten from them.

Here’s a tiny sneak peek of our bedroom.  I’ll do a post of the final product when it’s complete.

The linens and decorative items are from HomeGoods.

This is our formal living room.  We gave the walls a coat of light gray paint and added in some updated furniture, lighting and accessories.  Rug, lamps and accessories are all from HomeGoods.

Here are some shots of the formal dining room that we converted into a sitting area.  We actually use it now, unlike when it was a dining room.  🙂

We love turning on the electric fireplace and having a glass of wine in our comfy recliners.

Favorite #4 – Caress Body Wash

Have you tried Caress Fine Fragrance Body Wash yet?  I absolutely LOVE it!  The Love Forever fragrance smells like Valentine’s Day and it’s under $4 a bottle.  The scent really does last up to 12 hours. I woke up in the middle of the night sniffing my arm last night.

Favorite #5 – “Grover” our iRobot Roomba

Meet Grover, he’s our iRobot Roomba and I can’t remember what we did before he came along.  But I do remember dog hair tumbleweeds collecting in all the corners of our house.  I set Grover to run once a day and we never see those pesky hair balls anymore.  If you have pets and don’t have one yet, do whatever it takes to get one.  I promise you will thank me!

It’s Your Turn:  What are you loving this Friday?

Linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for Friday Favorites.

  1. Angiebee

I love the cream recliners! Are those from Wayfair as well??

    • Alison Lumbatis

Thanks so much! Yes, those are also Wayfair. They no longer carry those exact ones but there are a few similar styles. 🙂

  2. Jen W

Oooh, lots of good stuff! I love the fireplace and plan to check out that bodywash!

    • Alison Lumbatis

Thanks Jen! It’s quite cozy when it actually gets cold here in TX. 🙂

  3. Catherine Schmidt

Our Roomba is nicknamed Rob and with a black lab its been a lifesaver! I like the idea of converting the dining room. Ours is not used much.

    • Alison Lumbatis

Isn’t it funny how we Roomba owners name our vacs? LOL! Yes, we actually use the sitting area now, it’s been awesome.

  4. Lynn

What color are the walls in your living room? Love it!

    • Alison Lumbatis

Hi Lynn, thank you! It’s Sherwin Williams “Mindful Gray”. We did our entire downstairs in this color. It’s perfect!

  5. Saxon

Love your makeovers! We are in the market for a sofa and chairs for our living room. I’ve been looking at some things from Wayfair, but I’ve been afraid to buy without seeing in person. Weren’t you afraid they wouldn’t be comfortable or the color would be off?

    • Alison Lumbatis

Hi Saxon! I read the reviews very carefully and also looked at other customers’ photos which helped so much. It’s scary to buy furniture online but I’ve been thrilled with every piece I’ve gotten from them so far! Hope that helps.

      • Saxon

Yes! That does help! I just sent for some fabric swatches. 😀

  6. Maryanne

Girl, you are so stylish! I mean, I knew your wardrobe skills were on point, but I love your house style, too! 🙂

    • Alison

      Aw, thanks so much Maryanne!

    • Alison Lumbatis

      Aw, thanks Maryanne!

  7. Nikki Merritt

I’m wearing the same sweater today!

    • Alison Lumbatis

Great minds, right? I love that sweater and have almost worn it out this winter. 🙂

  8. Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side

Love your house! It seems so “you”. Those cords, thanks for the heads up and the enabler alert…and of course had to get free shipping, LOL. Happy Weekend, and congrats to the girls!

  9. chantellegrubbs

Can someone tell me how to figure out what size on the Loft pants I should order…. I normally wear an 8 from Old Navy or a 10 in the jeans from Target. Are those sizes supposed to coordinate to waist size or hip size?

  10. justintimeDS

We did the same to our dining room, I now call I the library because in addition to the two chairs, we have bookshelves. I love the horse painting you have in the corner, where is it from?
Thanks for sharing photos of your lovely home.

    • Alison Lumbatis

Hi, thanks so much! A library is a great idea too. The horse painting is from HomeGoods. I found it there last year.

  11. Sewfrench

Would you ever consider mentioning how things fit when you recommend them?
Do the cords run true to size or a tad big?
I tried them on in store and, in my usual Loft size, they sagged down, in the back waist, as I moved around. Not sure if I needed to go down another size (do they stretch out as you wear them?) or if they are just a pass since you can see the front pockets through them in my usual size…

    • Alison Lumbatis

Sure! I’d be happy to provide some fit advice. On these they do stretch out but only slightly. I was between sizes so went with the smaller of the two, per the sales associate’s advice.
