It may not feel like shorts weather in your neck of the woods yet, but here in Texas, most of us are already baring our legs. This year’s crop of shorts is quite possibly one of my favorites ever. Hey pretties! I’m starting a new monthly series today called Easy Outfit Formulas. I’ll bet you can guess what it’s about. That’s right! My favorite tried and true outfit formulas that make it easy to get dressed everyday.
Today I’m featuring one of my favorite spring to summer transition looks. If it’s cooler where you live, you can wear long jeans instead of cropped with a long-sleeved chambray. When the weather heats up, you can swap out the jeans for white shorts and pair them with sandals instead of flats.
EASY OUTFIT FORMULA

Add Ons: A fedora, your favorite bag and a pair of bright shoes for a pop of color.

My feet stayed happy all day in these super comfortable bow ballet flats from Ecco. They are very lightweight and have long-term cushioning for all day wear. The leather is soft, lightweight and breathable. These would be great to wear for shopping, a field trip or a day at the zoo.

It’s Friday! I hope you’ve had an awesome week and, by the way, happy early Mother’s Day!
There are a few exciting changes coming up at GYPO this month that I can’t wait to tell you about. First off, my posts are getting streamlined to be more relevant to what you really want. They will be a little less frequent but more suited to what you’re asking for, so it’s all good! Also, a little later in the summer, the site will be getting a makeover to be a little prettier and a lot more user-friendly. Don’t worry, it will be the same GYPO, just better!
You may have already noticed the first change in the title of this post from Daily Style Diary to Selfie Style Diary. Selfie Style Diary will now be a monthly feature with my favorite everyday outfits from the previous month. Other favorites features like Mother/Daughter Style, the I Feel Pretty link up and Outfit Basics will still be here, and some fun new how-to’s and easy everyday outfit formulas. Do you know the #1 thing that moms REALLY want for Mother’s Day? According to this article, it’s pretty simple. We just want a day off!
Can I get an amen?
I couldn’t agree more. Don’t bother with gifts, I just want an entire day to relax with my whole family without any household chores weighing me down.
Oh and I also want to spend time together as a family. As the kids get older and we are all pulled in different directions, we don’t get nearly enough family time. So, listen up family, here’s how I want my Mother’s Day to go down. 🙂
My Perfect Mother’s Day
- Sleep in until 8:00 a.m.
- Have coffee on the patio with my hubby.
- Get dressed in a cute, comfy outfit.
- Go to church.
- Have a nice brunch on the patio of my favorite Mexican restaurant with ALL THREE kids present
- Take the dog for a walk or go on a family bike ride.
- Grill out that evening and have dinner on the patio (clearly I like patios!)
- Relax the rest of the evening and NOT worry about laundry, lunches or backpacks for the week ahead!

I want my outfit for Mother’s Day to be as easy as the day I have planned so it will be this combo of a comfortable maxi dress, denim jacket and sandals.
