Style Your Budget – Fall Throwback

Style Your Budget – Fall Throwback

I’m really excited about this month’s Style Your Budget because I’m featuring a look that was inspired by a 2015 Fall Capsule Wardrobe outfit formula. Why am I doing this? Because I really strive to put together looks that can stand the test of time – looks that you can feel great in now as well as five years from now. For this capsule, one of the items I fell in love with was a pair of burgundy jeans. I paired it up with a pink blush colored top and the combination was dare I say magical. I then added a scarf because well, it’s fall, a great neutral bag, and finished it off with some metallic flats. I really loved that look which is why I decided to give it a little update. Unfortunately, because the original look was styled five years ago the actual pieces are long gone however below are plenty of similar options at different price points because, after all, that’s what Style Your Budget it all about!

For the revamped version of this look, I kept it all pretty much the same but I did add a twist to the shoes. I know we have our Pretties that love snake print and those who don’t. I often offer a metallic shoe as a great alternative but now, I’m offering snake print as a great alternative to the metallic shoe in the formula. Again, I wanted to show how versatile the formula really is. GYPO and Outfit Formulas really is for everyone – every body and every budget.

Low-Risk, High Results – 5 Ways to Easily Amp Up Your Look

Low-Risk, High Results – 5 Ways to Easily Amp Up Your Look

by Jessica Pigza

I have a confession, I have a fear of commitment. I’m not the biggest fan of trying new things that may be long lasting or even permanent. I get super nervous trying someone new to do my hair which is not good for someone who moves a lot. That’s also why I don’t have any tattoos and although I do want to try microblading on my thinning eyebrows, I’m afraid that I won’t like them so I’m perfectly happy continuing to fill them in using temporary methods. Don’t get me wrong, I do like to try new things but I prefer things that are more on the low risk side. What kind of risk taker are you? Are you daring or do you tend to shy away from new things? No matter what category you fall into the below ideas are low risk things you can try that can have a major impact on your look. If you try them and love them that’s awesome! And if you don’t, there wasn’t much risk or cost involved.

1. Try Red Lipstick

Red lipstick shouldn’t just be saved for special events but worn because you feel like it, because it’s Friday or because you just want to feel extra special. Red lipstick is fun but I will admit, a little intimidating, that is, until you find the right shade. I didn’t think I was able to wear red lipstick. I remember trying to wear my grandma’s shade when I was younger and I wanted to love it because she looked so amazing in it, but the truth is, I needed to go out and find my own shade. It did take a lot of trial and error but once I did I felt fierce and it was fun but it was also totally outside my comfort zone. That’s the funny thing about comfort zones though, only you know you’re pushing your comfort level, to everyone else you just look amazing! So go ahead, find your perfect shade of red and rock it!

2. Experiment with Hair Accessories

Really any hair accessories are in right now so you can’t go wrong. These days I tend to wear my hair up a lot and not to say I don’t love a good top knot or messy bun, but it sometimes feels really repetitive. By adding a cute headband, a scarf, or even a side braid going back into my bun or ponytail I can easily change up my look. If you want to add more volume to your messy bun you can try a faux hair scrunchie like this one.

3. Change Your Part

Okay, when I first heard about this I was dumbfounded. It’s so simple yet it’s something I never really thought about. Sometimes we’re so programmed to wear our hair the same way and let our part naturally occur but not only can trying a new part make your hair look fresh but it can also help add some additional volume because you’re forcing your root to lay a different direction. Below are some pictures I took when I finally discovered this simple yet impactful tip.

4. Explore Fake Eyelashes

There are so many options when it comes to enhancing your eyelashes. There are mascaras with small fibers to build up your lashes, glue-on lashes, magnetic lashes, and professionally applied lashes. Whatever option you choose enhancing your lashes is another quick and easy way you can amp up your look. I recently went on a girls’ trip and my friend does lash extensions. I was more than willing to let her work her magic on me and now I’m in love. I didn’t go crazy but she was able to enhance what I already had. They look totally natural but now when I wake up I look awake even though I haven’t even had my coffee yet. They will last 3-4 weeks and while I’m not sure if I’m going to get them done again, I’m certainly going to look into the other eyelash options out there. I know Alison swears by her Kiss Lashes (#11) and applies them with black lash glue and they always look amazing!

5. Try a New Nail Polish

I’ve said it before but there’s just something about painting my nails that makes me feel girly and put together. I tend to stick to colors I know I love but every once in a while I do try a new color and nine times out of ten I end up loving it. And if I don’t, I’m only a few swipes of nail polish remover away from getting rid of it. Last week I got my nails done for the first time in a while and it was one of those times I decided I wanted something new. I tend to stick to shades of pink but this time I opted for a soft red with a coral undertone. For me, this is something I’ve never tried but I loved it so much I ended up ordering the shade to add to my own home collection of polishes. If you’re looking for some fun fall nail color inspiration, check out last week’s blog HERE.

10 Fall 2020 Nail Color Trends

10 Fall 2020 Nail Color Trends

by Jessica Pigza

Whether I do them at home or manage to get to a nail salon, there’s just something that makes me feel put together, and dare I say girly when I have my nails painted. While it’s not a major thing, it still has a big impact on how I feel. Maybe that’s why it takes me so long to pick out my color when I get them done. I want to pick that perfect shade that’s going to spark a smile every time I glance at them. Anyone else have this problem? Are you indecisive like me or do you know exactly what you want?

While spring is all about getting your toes ready for sandal season with bright hues of corals, pinks, and pastels, fall tends to take a turn to the deeper and richer color palettes but this fall I’m seeing some surprise nail colors and trends. Lots of blues, metallics, soft reds, and blush colors are being showcased this fall. Now the only hard part is figuring out which color I want to try first! Below are 10 nail color trends I’m loving this fall!

1. Shades of Blue

Blue tones are very popular for Fall 2020. Everything from a navy blue to a denim blue and even a dusty blue. This color is very versatile and navy makes the perfect dark, cozy color for the chilly fall air.

2. Blush Pink

Blush pink is showing up as the new neutral for fall. It’s soft pink color is a warmer departure from the pastel pinks of the spring and summer.

3. Teal

Recently made popular by Meghan Markle, teal is a great fall color. It also falls into the jewel tone category and let’s face it, you can’t go wrong picking a jewel tone for fall! Some teals go towards the green spectrum while other shades tend to favor the blue. Both look great and this is another fantastic color I can’t wait to try!

4. Burgundy

Deep and rich this color screams fall! There are many variations but they are all equally beautiful. I tend to lean more towards the purple toned burgundy colors but this fall I might try something a little darker like a reddish-brown and even a blackish-red burgundy.

5. Fall Leaves

One of the prettiest sights of the fall is watching the leaves change from green to their brilliant shades of red, yellow and orange. Nail polish trends this season are taking a literal cue from these beautiful colors. Essie captures all these colors perfectly in their fall 2020 collection. I love the metallic orange and I can’t wait to try it!

6. Berry Shades

This is only my opinion but I thing berry is such a universal color nail polish and I think it looks great on everyone! Berry shades can be rich and sultry but they can also be soft and sweet. This color is super easy to wear and goes with everything.

7. Soft Reds

While red is a true classic, the softer side of red we’re seeing this fall is drool-worthy. I love the warmer shades and just like with red lipstick, red nail polish is no different. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the perfect shade that works with your skin tone but it’s totally worth it once you do.

8. Shimmer/Metallics

Anything with some sparkle goes this fall from shimmering glitter to metallics you can’t go wrong. Right now I’m loving the champagne sparkle nails and the warm copper tones.

9. Gray

Gray has been a fun take on the neutral nail for a few seasons now and it looks like it’s not going anywhere. Surprisingly, there are so many gray shades to pick from whether you want a slate gray, a blue-gray, or my favorite which is a tan gray. I love Chinchilly by Essie which looks great on a lot of different skin tones.

10. Flat Nail Polish

Most polish has a nice glossy sheen to it, however, this season flat/matte nail polishes are having their moment. When it comes to matte nails there are two options, you can buy a matte nail polish or you can just buy the matte topcoat. This way you can use any of the nail polishes you already have and just apply a matte finish!

Pretty Fix – Outfit Formulas Fall 2020 Capsule Wardrobe

Pretty Fix – Outfit Formulas Fall 2020 Capsule Wardrobe

The Pretty Fix took a few months off but now it’s back and what better way to welcome it back than with a cozy and versatile fall outfit formula! It’s no surprise that fall trends aren’t as groundbreaking as they may have been in years past. The world has changed and with its current state, the trends are either a continuation of last season or a return of something classic and simple, and honestly, I’m okay with that. I love that I’m able to get even more use out of some of the extra pieces I picked up last fall and I know any classic pieces will last me many seasons to come. Some of my favorite trends this season include color and prints which is why I’m drooling over the below outfit formula. It combines classic closet staples like the white tee and olive bottoms and pairs them with some fun snake print shoes and a cardigan in a beautiful, rich fall color.

Since it’s been a while since I featured the Pretty Fix and we have some new Pretties I wanted to tell you what it’s all about. The Pretty Fix is where I feature some fun trend pieces that you can easily add to your closet staples pieces or even offer style inspiration on different ways to pair up pieces you may already have. While I do love adding a few new pieces every so often, my main passion is curating pieces that will never go out of style, that I can pair up in endless ways and that I will enjoy year after year. What’s even more exciting is that the below look is just part of the Outfit Formulas® Fall 2020 Capsule Wardrobe which features even more ways to style the below pieces.

Fall Color Cardigan + White Tee + Olive Bottoms + Snake Print Shoes

1. Fall Color Cardigan

The cardigan is a classic and a quintessential item for fall plus it’s the first thing I reach for once the chill finally comes back into the air. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, it’s never a bad thing to have a few different cardigans in your arsenal because they are so versatile. It’s no surprise that fall is all about color, specifically a golden yellow or mustard color as well as rust. However, I also know not everyone is a fan of mustard but that doesn’t mean that you still can’t use this outfit formula and make it your own. Since olive bottoms are neutral you can style this look with pretty much any color cardigan such as burnt orange, plum, or burgundy.

2. White Tee

This closet staple needs no introduction. It’s perfect for pairing up with shorts in the summer and layer under sweaters in the fall. Although a white tee is pretty simple and straight forward there are still a few design options you can choose from. You can choose from a V-neck, crew or scoop neck, long sleeve or short and also a loose or a more fitted silhouette. This is another item that it’s okay to have multiples in your closet as long as they are not the exact same thing. Sometimes different situations call for a different white tee.

3. Hoop Earrings

Hoop earrings go with everything! They come in multiple designs, sizes and metals and are perfect for this look. I love adding this classic earring to my looks.

4. Neutral Handbag

Another closet staple workhorse, the neutral handbag is a must! While I styled this look with a black handbag you could easily opt for a brown or cognac bag especially if your snake print shoes have some brown undertones to them. Since this is something you’ll be able to pair up with pretty much any look, a neutral handbag makes a great investment piece, just be sure to pick something that’s not too trendy and more on the timeless side. Also, choose one that fits your lifestyle and will fit what you typically carry on a daily basis.

5. Olive Bottoms

I love olive pants! They are a great neutral and the perfect alternative when you want something other than jeans. They can easily elevate your look while still being casual and the olive color pairs perfectly with all the other beautiful colors of fall! And since pretty much every silhouette is in style this season you can’t go wrong with a skinny cut, boot cut, button fly, or even a wide leg. Just remember if you’re going to opt for a looser bottom like a boyfriend or even an olive jogger, opt for a top that’s a little more form-fitting to balance out the proportions.

6. Snake Print Shoes

Let’s talk about snake print shoes or even just snake print in general. It’s a trend that’s sticking around, it’s a neutral so it goes with anything and it’s an easy way to amp up your outfit. However, I know there are some that just can’t get on board with this print and that’s totally okay. There are a few easy substitutions you can make if you don’t want to use the snake print. Try a metallic shoe or even opt for a black or gray shoe. Another option is that you can pick a solid shoe but opt for one that has a snake scale texture. It’s a very subtle way to add snake print without actually having snake print. In addition to some great snake print shoe options, I’ve also included some great alternative options below.

Snake Print Alternatives

7. Wrap Bracelet

The wrap bracelet is one of those fun accessories I like to finish off my outfit with. I like the little bit of subtle edge they can add. If you’re not a fan of the wrap bracelet you can easily add just one or even try a cuff bracelet. Another alternative if you don’t have a wrap bracelet is to take a few of your favorite bracelets and mix them together, they don’t even have to be the same metal but they will still give that wrap bracelet look.

Day Two

Moto Jacket + White Tee + Gray Bottoms + Snake Print Shoes

I love that I was able to shop my closet for this look too. A few years ago I finally decided it was time to invest in great quality moto jacket and I’m so happy I did! This has been one of my favorite go-to pieces and I wear it all the time!

Day Three

Fall Color Cardigan + Graphic Tee + Boyfriend Jeans + White Sneakers

If you watch my latest 5 Ways to Wear It then you know how much I love the graphic tee! Good thing is that the options of graphic tees are endless so find one that speaks to you!

Printed Top + Olive Bottoms + Taupe Booties

I was able to closet shop the olive bottoms and taupe boots but I was really excited to add this rust printed top from Old Navy.
