Current Mood: Olive and Yellow

Current Mood: Olive and Yellow

There are certain color combos I’ve stumbled across over the past few years that have become all out obsessions. One of those has been olive green with yellow. These are two colors that I never really wore much in my entire life – that is until I wore them together and totally fell hard. It’s rare that I wear either color without the other (although gray with yellow and olive is another fave!)

When I spied this olive green shirtdress I knew it had to be paired up with yellow. I already found this super cute yellow cross body bag at Walmart.com a few weeks ago so I knew exactly how I’d accessorize this dress. I ordered this dress online and when it arrived out of the package I honestly wasn’t all that impressed. Then I put it on and Craig stopped in his tracks and said “I REALLY love that dress on you!” It’s not a style I’d usually choose for myself but I fell in love with it too.

For sizing reference, I’m wearing this dress in a size small. It’s generously cut and very thin. You may want to wear a body shaper under it.

These woven peep toe sandals are perfect for dresses, skirts, jeans or shorts.

This shirtdress doesn’t come with a belt so I paired it up with one of my favorite leopard belts from my closet.

Perfectly Pretty Pastels for Spring

Perfectly Pretty Pastels for Spring

If you’ve checked out the GYPO Instagram profile lately, you may have noticed A LOT of bright colors. Although I’ve been a lover of pastels and soft colors for the past few years, this spring has been all about the brights. If you’ve been out doing any shopping at all, I’m sure you’ve also noticed this shift.

To me, spring has always been a pastel season. When I walked into White House Black Market last week, my heart started to beat a little faster when I saw all of the pretty spring pastels – especially in shades of lavender and pink. If you share my affinity for pastels, you must check out their new arrivals.

The first piece I fell in love with was this floral layered shell. Then I spied these light pink embellished side stripe cropped jeans and they fit me like a glove! I just knew this outfit was meant to be. For sizing reference, I’m wearing a size 2 in both the tops and jeans and they fit true to size.

Silver heels? Yes, please! This pair of strappy heels truly take this outfit to the next level. I can’t wait to pair these up with black jeans for date night.

This wisteria convertible clutch has a silver chain detail and you can wear it three ways – as a cross body bag, a wristlet clutch or regular clutch. I love how it brings the colors together in the outfit.

These pretty Swarovski crystal embellished threader earrings in silver are so delicate. They’re also ON SALE for a steal!

The back of this floral layered shell is my absolute favorite! It has this pretty fluttery sheer flyaway piece to show off the camisole underneath.

Tie Waists and Twice the Stripes!

Tie Waists and Twice the Stripes!

If you know only one thing about me it should be this…I ADORE STRIPES! Maybe adore isn’t strong enough, I’m all out obsessed with them. I’ve told this story a time or two before but at one point, I counted up how many black and white striped tops I had and the total came in at 12. Since then I’ve pared down my collection a bit but you’ll still find all varieties of striped pieces in my closet. I just can’t stop myself.

Since spring and stripes go hand in hand, I added a few new pieces to my collection lately – a pair of tie waist shorts and yes, another striped top. You can honestly never have too many!

SHORT CARDIGAN + WHITE TEE + STRIPED SHORTS + NEUTRAL SANDALS

Have you noticed that short cardigans are coming back? Yay, finally! They’re such a classic piece and the length is just right on everyone. I got this lightweight bright orange cardigan to pair up with these striped tie waist shorts but I’ve been wearing it even more with the navy and white striped top in my second outfit!

If you’re in the market for the perfect neutral crossbody bag, look no further than this one! The size is just right and so is the price.

This perfect fit open neck tee is awesome quality, I have one in every color.

Navy jewelry is big for spring – these beaded tassel earrings and navy stone bar necklace pair perfectly. The necklace is sold out online but you may be able to find it in store at J. Crew Factory.

STRIPED TOP + TIE WAIST PANTS + BRIGHT SANDALS

This outfit had me at nautical. When I spied the top, I just knew that it had to get paired up with something red. These red basket weave flats are perfect and so comfy too. I’ll be wearing them with shorts and dresses all summer!

This gold anchor necklace sealed the deal on the nautical theme!

Fitted tops are back! The past few years we’ve been filling our closets with loose and flowy but now that the pants silhouette has changed, fitted tops are making a comeback. Pair this striped one up with wide legged cropped pants.

You’re Going to Want This Easy Denim Dress!

You’re Going to Want This Easy Denim Dress!

Sometimes I’m a slow adapter but thankfully I have all of you to help change that. For the past year, you’ve been asking to see more outfits from Walmart. Finally a few weeks ago, you wore me down and I ordered a few pieces from Walmart.com. Well what do you know, they actually have really cute stuff and my eyes were opened to this whole new world of possibility!

Walmart must’ve liked my new attitude too because they asked me to join their We Dress America campaign. I’m not sure why but the first thing that popped into my head was “denim dress”. Well maybe I do know why, “dress” and “America” are both in the campaign title and what’s more American than an easy peasy denim dress? Seriously, if you add one new dress to your wardrobe, make it denim. It has all the versatility of a chambray shirt but in an easy “instant outfit” – just add shoes and accessories!

I found this adorable denim dress for just $16.98! It’s well made, has THE cutest neckline and wait for it…it has POCKETS!!! For sizing reference, I’m wearing an XS and it runs a little big.

Since it’s still a wee bit cold for a sleeveless dress, I also picked up this striped denim jacket to toss on over it. How cute would this be over a red tank or tee? My jacket is a size XS.

I finished the look out with two of my favorite things for spring – a sunny yellow cross body bag (it has the cutest matching gingham keychain pouch) and a pair of comfy lace up espadrille wedges (they come in four colors!) Shoes fit true to size!

It’s SO Easy Being Green in These Dresses!

It’s SO Easy Being Green in These Dresses!

Do you have a color crush? I’ve been loyally loving kelly green ever since I was a little girl. One of my favorite dresses from elementary school was this color. I paired it up with lace trimmed white socks and Mary Janes for picture day. Fancy, right? Imagine my pure delight this spring to see so many pieces in my favorite color of all time!

When I spied these two green dresses at J. Crew Factory I had to have both! I went in to check out their new arrivals for special occasions I have this spring – including my goddaughter/great niece’s christening and of course, Easter. If you’re in need of Easter outfits for the whole family, J. Crew Factory is your one stop shop. They have the cutest dresses, shoes and accessories for little girls and handsome looks for dads and boys too!

When I walked out of the fitting room in these dresses, my husband Craig said “that is definitely YOUR color!” I guess little Alison knew a thing or two about fashion way back when. It’s fun getting to relive those elementary school days in these green dresses. The only thing missing is the white socks and Mary Jane’s!

Green Wrap Shirtdress

This green wrap shirtdress is what I’ll be wearing for my dressier events this spring and summer. The fit is so flattering! Even if you don’t share my affinity for green then maybe you’ll love it in bright coral or navy instead. To give it a little more glam, I paired it up with this crystal statement necklace, matching crystal earrings and a pair of block heel sandals.

Green Eyelet Tie Front Dress

Even though I set out to find a dressy dress, I couldn’t resist this more casual green eyelet tie front dress coming home with me. It super cute paired up with these animal print calf hair wedges but would also look cute dressed down with some gold sandals. These fun floral tortoise hoops and a versatile crossbody bag are the perfect accessories!
