Fall 2017 Denim Trends: Five Pairs to Add this Fall

Fall trends are a really hot topic around GYPO lately. Believe me, I’ve been researching my booty off over the past few weeks, scouring every web site I can get my fingers on and store I can shop to compile a list of the best trends for fall 2017.  I’ve also been getting more and more requests via e-mail and social media to share what to be on the lookout for, like this question from a reader last week:

Hey Alison! What are the biggest denim trends going to be for fall 2017?  I heard that skinny jeans are on the way out. Say it isn’t so!  Is that true?

Rest easy, dear reader. Slim cut jeans will most likely never go out of style but there are a few new silhouettes, colors and styles that you’ll want to add to your denim collection to update it for fall 2017.

Five Fall 2017 Denim Trends

1.  Wide Leg and Boot Cut

Slim fitting jeans are here to stay but wide legs and boot cuts are making a comeback. Not into wide legs? Try a bitty boot cut or micro flare to ease into this trend.

2. Frayed Hems

Frayed hems are here to stay, at least for this year.  If you already have this trend covered, try a step hem for a fresh twist.

3. Embroidered

Embroidery is a huge trend for fall 2017 and jeans are no exception! They add fun details and a little color to your denim collection.

4. Saturated Hues

Sage, plum and mustard are just three of the deeply saturated hues this season that will add the wow factor to your outfit.

5. White and Off White Jeans

White jeans year-round are nothing new. These neutrals go with everything in your closet and make it feel more like a real outfit than a traditional pair of blue jeans. Pair them with black, dark green or navy to ground them for fall and winter or go rogue and pair them up with pastels.

  • I had so many pairs of embroidered jeans about 10 years ago when there was sort of a mini trend of embroidered denim. I got rid of all of them about 6 years ago and I now I wish I had just held on to them! Boo. I suppose I should add at least one pair to my crazy denim collection! Thanks for sharing these trends, Alison.

    • It is a good excuse to shop for some new denim. Sometimes the trends don’t come back around soon enough I guess. 🙂

  • Wow, this is a very informative post. I think I will be adding a couple of corlors to my workwear pile, especially the sage. Thanks for hosting.

  • Great post! Denim is such a fun topic and we all want to be ahead of the trends. I like that pretty much anything goes with denim these days. I am actually working on a DIY with an old pair. I cut them off ankle length and have them soaking in a bleach mixture. Just the lower part about 8 inches. So they will be dark on the top and light on the bottom. I saw a pair some where and loved the look. We’ll see if my DIY works! Peace!

  • Wide leg and flare/bootcut are my life, so I’m ridiculously excited to see them coming back!!

  • Lisa Richardson

Great inspiration photos, Allison. I’m thrilled that I already own quite a few of the pairs you highlighted. Not so sure I’ll be able to get behind the cropped/flair look being a little vertically challenged…LOL. Probably not my best choice. 😉 Happy Wednesday!

  • I am loving the wide leg pants trend but struggling styling them.

  • Lori

You really have a talent for style and putting things together just right. Thanks for sharing this and keeping us up to date and for giving us ideas on how to style each type of jean!

Love the styles you chose here! I just bought a pair of black jeans for fall. I love the split hem jeans they are showing but dont want to fork over $300 bucks. I have khaki, burgundy etc and love the look of the wide leg jeans. Great pairings Allison.
    Have a great week!
Id love to have you linkup at Turning Heads Tuesday when you can

Thanks for linking up to the Top of the World Style linkup party. I like these wide leg jeans. However, I still haven’t found my perfect pair.

I am on the hunt for a pair of wide leg cropped! Thanks for linking up with Thursday Moda!
