Five Bargain Beauty Best Buys

Best Bargain Beauty Buys

I love luxury cosmetics and beauty products just as much as the next woman.  But let’s be realistic, busy moms are all about convenience and a good bargain too!   Most of the time, I’m not going out of my way to a department store to shop for high end products.  When I need something, I want it and I want it now.  A trip to my local Walgreen’s or Target usually does the trick.

During my drugstore shopping trips, I’ve run across a few bargain beauty products that have become must-haves.  Here are five of my favorites, all under $10 each.

1.  Jergen’s Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer

Fake it, don’t bake it.  That’s exactly what I did in this post!  Jergen’s Natural Glow gives me a gradual, subtle, natural sun-kissed glow that doesn’t look like an Oompa Loompa.  It takes about a week to build up to my desired color but lasts for up to two weeks after.  Their new formula also smells better than ever before.  2.  Wet n Wild MegaLast Nail Color

Even though I try to get regular mani/pedis, I always seem to end up doing my own nails between visits.  This pretty mint has been  my new favorite.  I’ve lost count of how many compliments I’ve gotten on this $1.99 nail color.  It lasts as long as my salon manicures too, sometimes longer!

3.  L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Conditioner

I just started using this conditioner last week and am totally hooked.  It smooths, moisturizers and de-tangles better than any conditioner I’ve used at any price, including my beloved Kerastase.  My damaged heat-styled hair is looking healthier already after only a couple of uses.

4.  Dove Style + Care Hairspray

Ojon Damage Reverse hairspray used to be my go-to.  Not anymore.  Dove Style + Care in the Strength & Shine formula holds better, provides more shine and smells like heaven, or a baby’s bottom.  Maybe both.  Either way, I’m considering buying this stuff by the case.

5.  Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick – Kate Moss Collection

Beautiful, vibrant long-lasting color that stays put and feels silky?  Yep, that pretty much sums it up!  This lipstick is my new addiction and for only $4.99, it’s one that won’t put me on Skid Row.  I’m wearing it in color #12 in this post.

  • Oooh! Gonna have to get that nail polish for sure! Thanks for the ideas!

  • Kristie

ELF eyelid primer. And ELF makeup. Covergirl Professional Mascara.
    Cheap, but does the job.

  • The new smell of the Jergens really is so much better! Back in the day I always felt so gross with it on – the smell made me feel like I hadn’t showered in days! I love the color of that Rimmel Lipstick!

  • I love the Dove products! They shampoos and conditioners make my hair really soft. The heat repair spray is great too to help protect for hot styling tools. Another thing I really like are the elf brand oil absorbing pads from Target. they are perfect for mid day touch ups when you are not feeling so fresh! Heather

  • I’m always looking for good bargain products, because I also get spoiled by the luxury ones, when I know good and well that there are great products at a better price. I just don’t like to try them unless I know they work!! I’ll have to check out that conditioner, especially, since I’m almost out of mine anyway.

  • Jergens is great! I’ve yet to try Rimmel lipsticks, so I need to get on that!

  • Ira
  • I’m a fan of dove products too, they just smell good. 🙂 I haven’t tried Wet and Wild since HS need to go back!

  • Number one works great! Love the natural color!

  • I love love love Aura Witch Hazel Hairspray! Its a pump spray and you have to buy it on Amazon, but its so good and doesn’t leave your hair all sticky.

Also, I swear by Physcian’s Formula Healthy Wear. Its spf 50 in the powder so I never even have to worry about wearing sunscreen on my face when outside or by the pool!

  • I am so glad that you posted this! When you recc’d the suntan lotion, I actually had some on hand and pulled it out of the closet. But it did smell a little funky, so I will have to try the new formula. 😀

  • I have tried and loved everything on your list except the dove hairspray. I’ll have to pick it up!

I just did a similar post of some of my favorite drugstore products!

  • Oooo….I just bought Jergen’s Natural Glow today. I really like the Physicians Formula eyeliner. I’ve tried many expensive brands but I always end up going back. I think it’s under $8.

  • This is probably my very favorite topic, and coincidentally, I purchased 2 of your top 5 favorites today (I got two Wet & Wild Megalast polishes and a small thing of Jergens Glow in Medium to Tan)!

I don’t use hairspray but I use the dry shampoo from that same Dove line and love it!

Other faves: There are two Revlon foundations that I LOVE. One is the Photoready Airbrush foundation, and the other is the 24 Hour Colorstay Whipped. They’re both incredible. I’ve been reaching for the 24 Hour Colorstay Whipped pretty much every day, over my MAC foundation and all the others!

Also: Milani baked blushes. Luminoso is a perfect peach! It’s supposed to be a dupe for Nars Orgasm.

The Maybelline studio gel liner is really good, and it’s SO BLACK. Also, the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stains truly do stain your lips and stay on better than any other lip product I”ve ever used. I’m finding that Wet n Wild products are really pigmented–I already have an eyeshadow trio I really like, and today I bought a coloricon bronzer and a blush in Mellow Wine.

Obviously I could talk about this for days .. . 😉

  • fans of the rimmel lipstick and wet n wild polish
if you haven’t tried wet n wild eyeshadows give them a try
for the money they are very pigmented and long lasting

  • I’ll have to give that polish a try. I love Essie and what not but I hate paying $8 for a bottle of nail polish.

  • Love this post. I want to try more of that new L’Oreal haircare line – I like the Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray. My drugstore faves right now are Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse whipped foundation. It’s so fast to put on if you’re a busy mom, and I keep getting compliments on my skin when I use it and I tell people it’s my Clarisonic but I actually think it’s that Maybelline! I also love e.l.f. eyelid primer and Cover Girl clump crusher mascara.

  • I love this post too! Finally affordable products that all us Mamas can buy & use! I love Nivea Happy Time body lotion & Garnier Dark Spot Corrector cream! Both cheap as chips but very good! 🙂 Andrea x
