September 24, 2013 - Better You, Style

Back to life, back to reality.

It’s hard to readjust to the normal hectic day-to-day after an experience like we had over the weekend at Miraval Resort.  It truly was a blessing in every way.  A huge thanks again to all of you for voting and making this incredible experience possible!  It was so good to get away for a few days as a couple to refresh and recharge.  Here are some highlights from the weekend courtesy of Instagram.

First there were the amazing 360° views.

Then there was the food.  They manage to make an all healthy, portion controlled menu taste like heaven.  Everything was so fresh and flavorful.  My favorite meals were the scallops, the morning starter omelette and their amazing chicken relleno with green mole.  Hubby had venison, rack of lamb and some awesome desserts.

Unlimited green juice and smoothies.  Yum.

Then there was the tranquility.  This is what truly sets Miraval apart.  It is one of the most peaceful places on earth.  No piped in music, just the sound of waterfalls and nature everywhere you go.

miraval hike We loved our early morning walks and hikes.

Miraval can be any kind of vacation you want it to be – one of self-discovery and learning or one of total relaxation.  It’s totally up to you.  There are plenty of activities and seminars to keep anyone occupied.  Although Craig and I were more focused on a weekend of downtime, I did take a personal yoga session which was enlightening.  We also lounged at the pool, relaxed in the hot tub and took strolls around the resort grounds every chance we got.

The best part – our package included massages and facials at their world class spa.  The quality of the staff and treatments was  impeccable.  We were totally blissed out when we walked out of there.

Standard dress code at the resort is athletic clothes and yoga pants…even in the dining room.  You know I was in heaven with that!  But a Wallis weekend getaway wardrobe was also part of this amazing prize package.  Even though I spent most of my time in yoga pants, I’ll be bringing you photos of my Wallis outfits in the coming weeks.

Here’s a peek at one that I wore for travel.

This place looks like HEAVEN! So glad you were able to go and enjoy a relaxing time with your hubby. I am ALL about a relaxing, laid back vacation. My husband, on the other hand, relaxes by go, GO, GOING! Needless to say, this occasionally causes some tension. lol We try to strike a happy medium. 😉

  • It’s a shame you and the hubs aren’t good looking…a serious shame. The fact that you both look like super models (even in the hot desert) is ridiculous ;)! I’m so glad you had such a relaxing time!! The pictures are GORGEOUS (just like you guys!).

  • Alison, these are amazing photos! I am so glad you had a wonderful getaway with your husband.
That’s the kind of vacation I love… rest, relax, some wellness treatments or beach, good food, slow walks, a bit of shopping. I am not an active person when I am on leave 😉

Glad you had a wonderful time Alison! You totally deserve it! I could easily be down with that dress code, wish every place had it in place! 🙂

  • That looks like a little bit of heaven on earth! Plenty of things to enjoy during your downtime, plenty of nature to hike around in…sounds perfect to me!

  • Glad you had a nice relaxing trip- Miraval looks so gorgeous. I’m with you- I prefer to kick back on vacay as opposed to go activity-wild. 🙂 Gotta recharge those batteries.

  • So glad you had a great time on your trip! It looks beautiful there!! Now I really want to go! Arizona has been on my list of places to visit anyway. You look great, too!! I bet it was super relaxing, and I’m sure your hubby enjoyed it, too!

Gah! So gorgeous and what a lovely relaxing get away. I know that for busy parents that must have been a dream! I’m jealous! I am lazy and love my sleep (which I get very little of with a toddler) so laid back get aways for me all the way!
