It’s finally cold enough for layering! This is my favorite time of the year for getting dressed. Layering allows my creative juices to flow and I just love the warm coziness of a layered up look.

[Cardigan: c/o Sosie/Jeans: Joe’s Jeans (Similar)/Chambray: H&M/Earrings: Forever 21/Boots: Franco Sarto/Sunglasses: Ray-Ban]
This Aztec cardigan from Sosie will be a mainstay in my closet this winter. It’s going to look so cute paired up with leggings too. Bring on the cold weather, my wardrobe is ready!

Getting my pretty on with The Pleated Poppy and Shanna.
Nov 6, 2013
October was quite possibly the busiest month of my life. There really is such a thing as having too much good going on. Don’t get me wrong, I feel incredibly blessed during this season of my life. But wow, do I ever need to find some balance before the holidays hit!
Simplification has been the name of the game lately. The only way to do a lot WELL is to keep it simple sweetie. Especially when it comes to getting dressed.
This outfit is the perfect example. Start with two neutrals – black and beige – and repeat.
Simple, right?
My new polka dot infinity scarf from Leslia NYC was the inspiration for this outfit. I picked it out first, then repeated the colors to build around it.

It’s Your Turn: What are your best tips and tricks for simple dressing? Tell me in the comments!
LESLIA NYC
Today’s star of the show outfit piece is my new black and cream polka dot infinity scarf courtesy of Leslia NYC. I love the generous size and microfiber feel of this outfit maker.
Founder and head designer Leslia Rodriguez is an NYC mom that grew up in Puerto Rico. She spent many years working in the fashion industry before branching out and starting a line of her own. While vacationing in St. Barth’s in 2011, Leslia was inspired to create a multifunctional collection of scarves, kaftans, headscarves and more that can be worn year-round. She will soon be debuting her new line of plus-sized kaftans.
Check out Leslia’s collection at LesliaNYC.com. Her beautiful multifunctional pieces make getting dressed even easier.

What could possibly be more versatile than a great shift dress? It can be dressed up or down with ease and made perfectly appropriate for any season.
Simple Southern Style recently sent me not one, but two shift dresses to style from their collection.
The first is this gorgeous green Holiday Shift. For a fall daytime look, I paired it simply with a leopard scarf and cognac riding boots.

[Dress: c/o Simple Southern Style/Scarf: Similar/Boots: Frye/Watch: Michael Kors/Sunglasses: Ray-Ban c/o SmartBuyGlasses/Earrings: c/o Foxy Originals]
For my second look, heels, a statement making necklace and my favorite ruffled wrap make it holiday party appropriate.

[Dress: c/o Simple Southern Style/Ruffled Wrap: c/o Wallis/Necklace: c/o Kendra Scott/Heels: Sole Society/Earrings: Forever 21]
The second dress, this City Lights Shift is perfectly paired for fall with colorful cobalt tights and ankle boots.

Getting my pretty on with Tres Chic Thursday, What I Wore to Work, Fashion Informant, Shanna and The Pleated Poppy.
Oct 23, 2013
It’s hard to believe we are only a little over a month into fall. I’ve already had so much fun with fall fashion! Here are five of my favorite looks so far, along with my pick for the star of the show of each outfit. These are the pieces I keep going back to over and over again to build my fall looks.
1. Embellished Sweatshirt + Blush Jeans

Favorite Piece: Blush Jeans

[Loft: Moto Zip Ankle Jean]
Are you tired of hearing about these jeans yet? I hope not because I still have ways planned to wear them. You can see how I styled them with a floral blouse here, a striped tee here and five ways I planned to wear them here. P.S. They’re ON SALE!
2. Gray Sweater + Coated Denim

Favorite piece: Coated Denim

[Vince Camuto: Coated Skinny Jean]
Coated denim is a trend I’ve been itching to try since last fall. I love the pretty plum color of this Vince Camuto pair and they’re 40% off!
3. Pastel Jeans + Navy Blazer
Favorite Piece: Pastel Jeans

[Kut from the Kloth: Mia Stretch Corduroy]
Pastels are big for fall, I mean BIG. Pastel pants in mint, baby blue, yellow, lavender and rose look fresh paired up with a neutral sweater and your favorite pair of boots or booties. If you don’t have a pair yet, it’s not too late. Try out some corduroys.
4. Olive Blouse + Leggings
Favorite Piece: Spanx Leggings

[Spanx: Look at Me Legging]
This is one of my most pinned looks lately. I’m loving my new Spanx leggings and have been pairing them up continuously this fall. I may need to buy a second pair to keep in rotation!
5. White Jeans + Cardigan
Favorite Piece: Frye Riding Boots

[Frye: Melissa Boot in Cognac]
My Frye riding boots will be in heavy rotation again this fall and winter. The cognac color goes with everything. I cannot express my love for these boots enough! Yes, they’re an investment but TOTALLY worth it.
It’s Your Turn: What pieces do you keep going back to over and over again for fall? Tell me in the comments!

Have you ever had to go to back to back events – one casual, the other dressier – with NO time to change in between?
Last week, I had to rush between two overlapping blogger events – a preview of the new Nordstrom Rack in Dallas and a press screening for the Universal Pictures’ film “About Time“. More to come on both soon.
For the Nordstrom Rack event, I wanted to be stylish yet comfortable. One of my blogging assignments was to put together three outfits while I was there – so quick changes in the fitting room were a must.
I started with two comfortable basics – my faux leather leggings and an over-sized cobalt blue sweater – then paired them simply with my leopard flats.

[Leggings: Similar/Sweater: Mossimo/Flats: Similar/Necklace: Stella & Dot c/o Lori McMinn]
In the car on the way to the press screening, I swapped out my flats for some ankle boots and added a leopard scarf. Instantly dressier.

[Leggings: Similar/Sweater: Mossimo/Booties: c/o Wallis/Scarf: Boutique Find (Similar)/Necklace: Stella & Dot c/o Lori McMinn]
Lesson learned – there’s no need to do a full outfit change when going between events. Start with a good base then swap out a few accessories in the car and you’re good to go!
