Hey pretties! If you saw my post last Friday, you know that I had to move up the post I had scheduled for today because the links were starting to sell out. So I went against all things I stand for and posted about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale two days in a row so I could share A Week of Fall Outfits from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale before everything sold out.
I think that’s an important enough reason, don’t you? 🙂
This is always one of my most popular posts of the year. You may not even be thinking about fall outfits yet, but hop over and pin the post so that you have it handy when you are!
Ok, let’s take a break from all of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale madness today and switch gears a little bit to a recent purchase that I’m loving – this tie waist black dress.
It was a last minute purchase right before my parents’ 50th anniversary party a few weeks ago. I wasn’t feeling any of my other dresses so I ran out to Target and grabbed it without even trying it on. I paid $19.99 for it but it’s now on clearance for just $13.98!
Here’s a flat lay of the outfit that I wore to my parents’ anniversary party because I was rushing out the door and forgot to take a selfie on the night of it.

Let’s stop and talk about these sandals for a minute before we press on – I got mine in a Stitch Fix but just discovered them on sale for 50% off here. I can’t tell you how many compliments I get every time I wear these shoes. Because of the block heel, they’re really comfortable and a lot more versatile than you might think.
Today’s outfit is how I paired it up for Friday night church. This little dress is great for so many things, including putting it on with a pair of flip flops and never leaving the house! It’s super comfy and versatile, which I love, love, love. Pair it with heels for a night out or throw it on with a long cardigan and gold sandals like I did for church.

Lately I’ve been having a bit of a color crush on black and olive. Here’s another outfit I posted last week on Instagram with this color combo.

TGIF Pretties and welcome to another edition of Friday Favorites! If you’re new around here, Alison’s Friday Favorites is a weekly list of anything that makes my life a little easier, prettier or happier. Here are a few things that checked those boxes this week.
Favorite #1 – Summer Schedule
Summer is my favorite time of the year. I love the laid back pace and extra time with my family so much. Each summer, I cut back a little on blogging from June through August in order to squeeze every last drop out of this time of the year. Starting next week, I’ll be cutting back a bit on posting until mid-August. Don’t worry, I’ll still be around, just a wee bit less. 🙂
Favorite #2 – She’s a Graduate!
Well, graduation happened over the weekend. I did pretty good, only got teary-eyed a few times. The same thing happened when our son graduated. I dreaded it for months (years) but when the actual day rolled around, I was ok. Knowing that she’s going to be home for another year definitely cushions the blow. We had family in town for the occasion including my parents and mother-in-law. It was a fun long weekend celebrating our graduate!

Favorite #3 – My One Piece Bathing Suit
Our community pool opened this past weekend and we’ve already gone twice. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen this pic and know that this is my first one piece swimsuit I’ve owned since I was 12 years old! If you’re in the market for a new suit, I recommend this one. The mesh cut outs are a fun detail and they don’t leave funky tan lines. Oh and it’s under $40!

Favorite #4 – My Stitch Fix Stylist
Every month my Stitch Fix stylist blows me away with how much she gets me and my style. She picked out this head to toe look for this month’s fix and I couldn’t have been happier! It came the day before we had Aubrey’s graduation lunch so I had an instant outfit to pull out and wear. P.S. If you decide to sign up and want to get outfits like mine, mention my name and Get Your Pretty On in the comments to your stylist. They can access my blog and Pinterest boards for your outfit ideas. 🙂

Aren’t these shoes to die for? They had me at printed heels!

Welcome to another edition of SAHMonday – weekly outfit inspiration just for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me!) who aren’t heading out of the house on Monday morning. You can check out the other outfits in this series here.
These outfits are perfect for when you want to feel comfortable, yet put together, so that you can face the day and any errands you may need to run. Plus, most of these outfit formulas can be pulled straight from your closet. If you don’t have my exact pieces, that’s ok. Just use one of the substitutions that I recommend.
White Top, Denim Shorts and Pops of Yellow
Happy day after Mother’s Day! For all you moms out there, I hope you had a GREAT one. Mine was spent with my family at Disney watching our daughter Aubrey’s cheer competition. Honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way! Today’s outfit is one of the looks that I packed for our trip. I chose some of my “happy colors” to wear to the happiest place on earth.
[White Top: Stitch Fix/Denim Shorts: Same/Earrings: Same/Necklace: Similar/Phone Case: Same/Sandals: Similar]
I honestly get the cutest, most unique tops in my monthly Stitch Fix. I keep at least one every month. This white top with crochet trim is no exception. It just goes with everything.
See those yellow sandals? That’s called the power of a bright accessory! They tie everything together and take the neutrals to another level. If you don’t have a pair of bright sandals yet, get one ASAP. They make even your most basic basics look cute and put together – which is one of the many reasons why we’ll be styling bright sandals in the Summer 2017 GYPO Style Challenge opening this Friday.

Speaking of blue and yellow, let’s talk about this favorite weekender bag/travel tote of mine. Since buying it a year ago, this blue ikat getaway bag has come along on every single trip I’ve taken. It’s HUGE and you can fit so much in it. The cool part is it has a zipper portion in the center to expand it. (Unfortunately the small jewelry storage case pictured with it is no longer available).

To illustrate just how big it is when it’s unzipped, here’s a pic of me with it. It seriously takes up almost half of my body! If you have any weekend trips/vacations coming up, I highly recommend it.

Striped Bell Sleeves and Colored Denim
Remember when I said I needed a striped shirt intervention? Yeah, well I definitely have a problem because not even a day later, I acquired yet another one. SMH…
As luck would have it, a striped bell sleeved top came in my Stitch Fix this month (I told you my stylist knows me really well) and of course I didn’t have the heart to send it back! I wrestled with it for a few hours but ultimately, the striped shirt won.
It’s my kryptonite. 🙂
And yes, I already had a striped top with bell sleeves. So how did I justify this one? It has wide stripes and a different neckline. It’s the little things! Different topic but did you know that you can request specific items to be put into your Stitch Fix? Maybe I’m behind the curve but I just found this out! So if you want a striped bell sleeve top and colored denim, you just let your stylist know in the comments and they’ll do their best to include it.
Today I paired up my new striped bell sleeve top with a pair of coral jeans I’ve had for a few years. It’s such an easy outfit for working from home. Add in some comfy metallic flats and a dash of leopard and you’re good to go!

Let’s title this week’s Friday Favorites Mexico, Meat, Moto Jackets and Menswear! On that random note, let’s just jump right in, shall we?
If you’re new around here, Alison’s Friday Favorites is a weekly list of anything that makes my life a little easier, prettier or happier. Here are a few things that checked those boxes this week.
Favorite #1 – MEXICO!
Last week we spent spring break at Grand Residences, an all-inclusive resort in Puerto Morelos, Mexico (about 25 minutes south of Cancun). This was our second stay so I was a little nervous that it wouldn’t live up to the hype of the last time we went.
Thankfully, it did. The weather was a little crazy with some rain and wind but for the most part it was beautiful. We got to truly relax and not worry about having to do a thing for ourselves. The water was a little rough so the girls only got to swim in the ocean one day but they got to spend a lot of time at the pool.
See this scene below? That’s exactly where my butt had an appointment with the lounge chair all week!
And for those of you who asked to see my black mesh one-piece swimsuit in real life, here’s a pic. I love it so much!

Favorite #2 – Fogo de Chao (Meat!)
As if we didn’t have enough to eat at the all-inclusive resort all week, when we got back we were treated to a night out at the new Fogo de Chao location that recently opened in Uptown Dallas. Rough life, huh? 🙂
But seriously, it was an awesome experience. If you haven’t been before, Fogo de Chao is a Brazilian steakhouse with an amazing selection of salads, artisan meats and cheese, soups and the most delicious little cheese rolls in the world. But the main event is the meat prepared in the churrasco style. There’s a selection of steaks, chicken, pork and seafood. You just flip your card from red to green and the servers magically appear to slice samples of each meat for you! Our service, food and experience were nothing short of spectacular.
My sister Andrea and brother-in-law Victor were able to join us too. It was nice to catch up on life with them and enjoy an evening out. (Craig is missing from pic because he was taking it!)

Favorite #3 – Moto Jackets
The link I provided for a dupe for my moto jacket from Wednesday’s post sold out pretty much immediately. But I did some more digging around this week to find other options. If you aren’t able to get mine from Stitch Fix, you can also check out this great dupe, this faux suede one, this striped one and this plus sized one. It’s the perfect spring layering piece!

Favorite #4 – Menswear Spring Bootcamp
IT’S HERE! A lot of you were eager to help get your guys updated for spring (me included!) so I’m excited to announce that the Spring 2017 Menswear Boot Camp is now available. Like today, right now! You get a shopping list of spring trends and classic basics plus 15 days of outfit ideas created from the pieces on the list. It’s the perfect way to help your guy update his wardrobe for spring! The best part? It’s just $19. Get your shopping list and all 15 days of outfit ideas immediately HERE.

It’s Your Turn: What are you loving this Friday?
