You asked for more work wear looks and I’m happy to deliver! One of the things that I miss most about my days working in an office is getting to play dress up. In some ways, it was easier to get dressed back then. I had my work wear outfit formulas down pat – pretty blouses, ankle pants, pencil skirts and of course leopard print shoes. These are still the pieces I turn to when it’s time to get gussied up a bit and they never let me down.
Today’s outfit incorporates so many of my favorite things – a pretty emerald tie waist blouse, bi-stretch black ankle pants and some classic leopard loafers.
This emerald tie waist top is the perfect color of green and you can tie it in the front or back. I paired it with basic black sailor skinny pants that are both comfortable and flattering! Both of these pieces are awesome basics to have in your work wear closet year-round. Just add gold accessories and leopard flats to give it that perfect finishing touch.
November?!?! Yes, it is November already! We all have crazy, busy lives and these next few months probably aren’t going to help lessen that at all. As much as we try to find ways to slow down and enjoy the holidays, they still end up being an insane time of year. So while I can’t help you with your decorations or cook a fabulous holiday dinner, I can help you plan your outfit for the day and give you one less thing to think about with this month’s Style Your Budget.
Now if you’re new here, Style Your Budget helps you shop smarter by showing you one outfit prompt styled at five different price points. You may already have these items in your closet and if you do, yay, you can easily shop your closet! If you find that you have some missing pieces, then the different price points below can help you fill in the gaps.
What I love about this month’s Style Your Budget outfit is the flexibility. Although this outfit prompt came from our Style Challenges Fall 2019 Work Wear Capsule Wardrobe, it can also transform into everyday casual or even an evening out by doing some simple swaps. You can even swap out the cardigan for a camel color jacket if it’s extra chilly where you live. Add in some leopard slip-ons for a more casual look or opt for heels if you want to dress it up. That’s the beauty of this, you can mold the prompt into what works best for your life and what you feel comfortable wearing!
Neutral Cardigan + Black Top + Fall Color Bottoms + Leopard Shoes + Black Handbag

Craig and I just got back from ten glorious days in Greece celebrating our 20th anniversary. This was our first time traveling to Greece so I wasn’t sure what to pack and ended up breaking ALL of my rules and packing much more than I needed. Sometimes it takes good old fashioned trial and error to figure things out and I was honestly very happy to have extra options in my Greece vacation packing list.
First of all, let me say that we were duly warned that it would be VERY hot. But we Texans are a proud bunch and tend to ignore dire warnings about heat. Most of the time, it’s way hotter at home than anywhere we travel but sadly this time we were wrong. Confession: We never even made it all the way up to the Acropolis. After a 2.5 hour walking tour, I was just too hot to even think about it.
Needless to say, I lived in tees, shorts, sandals and dresses the entire time…and sweat through all of them! Luckily everywhere we went in Greece is pretty laid back so we didn’t have to dress fancy much.
Hey, there’s the acropolis wayyyy up on that hill. Too bad we didn’t actually walk up there!
Greece Vacation Packing List
For starters, let’s talk about these super soft lace bralettes. I wore these with almost every outfit for our entire trip. They came in a two-pack of black and white so there was one to go with every outfit.
This was my travel outfit both on the way there and home. Maxi dresses are perfect for Greece and really any summer travel. This maxi dress is so soft and it has pockets! I wore my chambray shirt over it, tied at the waist. Layering gave me just the right amount of warmth on the plane. Sandals are great for airport security but not so much for cold toes on the flight so I always stash a pair of socks in my Louis Vuitton Neverfull, a.k.a. my carryon for life!
Everything in Athens is pretty (once you get past the graffiti).
White Linen Button Down + Denim Shorts + Sandals
TGFL – Thank Goodness for Linen! That should be the national saying in Greece. Who knows, maybe it is? After all linen shops dotted every street in Athens and for good reason. My white linen shirt has been one of my favorite buys of the summer and as soon as I bought it I knew it would be on my Greece vacation packing list. I wore it in multiple ways both as a top and as a swim coverup. It kept me cool(ish) and deflected the sun at the beach.
OK, so my teen daughters had a heyday making fun of my walking sandals but I was so happy that I bought them the night before our trip. They were perfect for both our walking tour of Athens and our treks through Fira and Oia on the island of Santorini. Not the most fashionable looking footwear but definitely the comfiest!
Setting out on our walking tour of Athens. My crossbody phone case came in really handy the entire trip but especially in Athens where pickpockets run rampant!
Linen Dress + Sandals
Linen again for the win! This dress was another last minute purchase on my Greece vacation packing list. I wore it on the ferry on our travel day from Mykonos to Santorini. It lasted through the day and into evening for drinks and dinner. I love this dress so much I may just have to order it in a few more colors! Does it not just scream Santorini?
Overlooking the caldera in Santorini while enjoying fresh-squeezed lemonade. I was made for this life!
Striped Tee + Denim Shorts + Red Sandals
Cute, casual outfits were appropriate for just about everything in Greece from dinners to tours. I brought a classic striped shirt to pair with my denim shorts and added a pop of color with red sandals.
The paper bag waist is still one of my favorite trends that have transitioned from spring into summer in the form of shorts! However, I know that there are many that do not share in this love. I’m finding that the pretties either love it or they hate it – there seems to be no middle ground. Yes, I know it can be an intimidating trend and for some, outside their comfort zone. But unless you flat out hate the style, I seriously think it’s worth a try. And then, if it never makes it past the dressing room, that’s fine because everything you add to your closet should be a heck yes!
Now if you’ve decided that the paper bag waist shorts will become a part of your summer rotation I’m here to help you with some fun styling ideas. Remember, it’s all about proportions. Since it’s typically fuller on the bottom, it’s better to wear a more form-fitting shirt. Below are four outfit formulas that can help you style this trend and who knows, may spark some inspiration of your own.
I’m wearing everything linked above except for the straw bag and the shoes are from my closet but here’s a similar pair. Also, the white top is almost sold out so here is something similar.
I’m wearing all the links posted above except for the crossbody bag which is sold out but here is something similar and my fedora is from my closet but here is a similar one. There are also limited sizes available in the yellow striped shirt I’m wearing so here is another tank top option and a short sleeve option.
Below are some more options for paper bag waist shorts if you’re willing to give them a try!
Your turn! Have you tried paper bag waist shorts? What style formula is your favorite?

Welcome to a #WorkWearWednesday version of Style Your Budget! If you’re new around here, Style Your Budget helps you shop smarter by showing you one outfit prompt styled at five drastically different price points.
One of the things that makes Style Challenges work so well is that we don’t provide you the clothes. That may sound like a bad thing at first, but we promise it isn’t. By providing you with a style prompt rather than a box of clothes, you get to decide what the outfit ultimately looks like (and how much it costs).
If you already own all the pieces in the prompt you can shop your closet for a free outfit. Woohoo! However, if you need to fill in a gap in your wardrobe you get to choose which store, and more importantly how much you are going to spend, to fill in that gap.
This look is from the Style Challenges Winter 2018 Work Wear Capsule Wardrobe. Building a cohesive and affordable work wear wardrobe doesn’t have to be tricky and Style Challenges is here to help. I’ve been participating in the GYPO Style Challenges for three years now and I’ve loved it. I’ve always loved clothes, but I didn’t know how to put outfits together. My closet is now full of mix-and-match outfits, I have learned how to dress myself, and there is no more stress in figuring out to wear. The private FB group is full of wonderful ladies that build each other up. It’s so fun and is seriously the best group on FB.

Get Your Pretty On has changed my life, seriously. I have always chased what is trendy but found from season to season, that things go out of style and I was wasting money on items that I would only end up wearing a few times. GYPO has enabled me to simplify my closet, helps me make smarter purchasing decisions, and I feel so put together and confident using the outfit formulas that are provided. This program is a GAME CHANGER. I've been following GYPO for a few years now and my only regret is not jumping on board sooner.

Great community of ladies, helping each other look stylish, without breaking the bank, and using much of what you already own.

GYPO challenges have been one of the best things I have done! It had taught me so much more than just creating a closet of clothes that I love but also to have confidence in myself, how to pick and choose colors that work for me instead of against, and had given a wonderful community of Pretties who are so special.
