Easy Fall Outfit | Military Jacket, Scarf and Riding Boots

Easy Fall Outfit | Military Jacket, Scarf and Riding Boots

The Fall Style Me Pretty Challenge outfits started last Monday.  Honestly this has been the best group of participants yet.  Our Facebook group is nothing short of amazing!  You girls have serious style and you’re not afraid to show it.

Every Friday for the next three weeks, I’ll be sharing one of the outfits from the challenge along with interpretations from some of our challengers.  Hopefully you’ll get inspired to try out these combos too!

This week, we styled a military jacket, layering tee, plaid scarf, skinny jeans and riding boots.  Here’s the inspiration outfit.

Three Ways to Wear a Plaid Shirt

Three Ways to Wear a Plaid Shirt

I was going to title this post “How to Wear a Plaid Shirt Without Looking Like a Lumberjack, the Brawny Paper Towel Guy or a 90’s Grunge Rocker”, but I didn’t, for obvious reasons.

However, the sentiment is the same.

You can style plaid shirts without being one bit brawny or grungy.  Plaid shirts are totally on trend for fall and winter.  They’re also completely wearable (and dare I say, chic?) when paired up properly.

Here are three of my favorite ways to pair up plaid shirts.

1.  Plaid Shirt + Sweater

2.  Plaid Shirt + Puffer Vest

Up for Fall Adventure | Jambu Style

Up for Fall Adventure | Jambu Style

Fall just seems to beckon for adventure, doesn’t it?  After the long, brutal summers we endure in Texas, it’s no wonder fall is my favorite time of the year.  Our family takes every opportunity we can to get out and enjoy the crisp cool mornings and clear afternoons.   One of our all-time favorite fall activities is taking a hike and breathing in the autumn air.

Our family loves adventure so I’m thrilled to be partnering with Jambu, a company that embraces the adventurous life.  Their line of footwear is designed to empower people to love their journey through life.  I’m sharing some of my favorite tips for embracing everyday adventures on a stylish foot with Jambu in October’s issue of Redbook.  Be sure to pick up a copy and check it out.

The luxurious leather Perla bootie perfectly blends style with function.  Hyper Grip technology provides the ultimate in traction for inclement weather.  We may not get a lot of snow in Texas but our ice storms are no joke.  A sturdy boot like this is a must-have in the winter months for getting around on slick surfaces.  Not to mention it’s really cute and comfy too!

The Next Thing You Need | Olive Green

The Next Thing You Need | Olive Green

Olive, army green, whatever you want to call it – it’s a color that’s definitely having a moment this fall.

I recently discovered just how much I love it paired up with black.

If you haven’t jumped on board the olive train yet, now’s the perfect time.  There are plenty of affordable pieces to update your wardrobe in stores now.  Here are six of my faves.

Olive Wardrobe Pieces

1.  Cargo Skinnies

The studded details and cargo pockets on these skinny pants make them extra special.  Wear them cuffed with ankle boots or tucked into your favorite riding boot.

2.  Open Weave Sweater

Your black leggings just found their perfect mate!  This metallic open weave sweater adds a pretty sheen of army green.

3.  Camp Dress

This camp dress would look great belted and paired with black ankle boots.

4.  Camo Blouse

A pretty, feminine camo blouse adds flair to basic black jeans and pencil skirts.

5.  Military Jacket

Every girl needs a military jacket in her collection.  It’s fall’s perfect finishing layer.  Pair it with black and white stripes.

6.  Military Vest

Already have a military jacket?  Then consider adding a vest.
