I Feel Pretty | in Jeans and a Blazer for Work

The Work Wear Challenge opened on Monday so I thought it would be fun to revisit one of my favorite ways to dress up jeans to make them office appropriate.  Colored denim can work great for a business casual office environment.  The key is to pair it with sophisticated separates like a white button down and blazer.  Outfits like this make me *almost* wish I worked in an office again!

If heels aren’t your cup of tea, swap them out for a pair of ladylike sling back flats, like these.

A look like this would work just as great with your favorite refined dark wash skinny jeans.  This pair would look great with a bright blazer like the one below.

This radiant orchid blazer is the perfect partner for those dark wash skinny jeans and it’s ON SALE.

Finish the look off with a pretty statement necklace in complementary colors to tie the outfit together.

  1. Beautiful outfit Alison! I am in the market for a fall blazer and I love the orchid choice! It is still ok to rock last year’s color in 2015? I hope so!! I love this shade!! Blessings!! Susan

  2. Love this look! It’s professional but so stylish and fun with the colored jeans. Yeah, sometimes I almost wish I was working again so I could dress up in more chic work clothes. Btw, LOVE the new design of your blog! Great color palette. ~Cynthia

  3. Have always loved the jeans and jacket look with either a T-shirt or white shirt! Have just bought a lovely pair of orange denims (a big first for me) and definitely going to pair it with my white shirt and navy jacket!! Thank you for the spark! x

  4. I love that work casual look – I need to experiment more with interesting pants (mostly colored denim, I suppose…)! Plus, love the site design!

  5. First of all, I am in love with the new awesome re-design of the blog. WOW. Totally matches the name of the blog.

This outfit is so chic. Love the color of those pants and I agree about those leopard pumps dressing up the look. =) The leop flats you linked to are totally cute, also. =)

    Pleasure linking up, pretty lady!

  6. You always look so polished and put together and this outfit is no exception. It’s amazing how styling one piece differently can create a whole different vibe. Also, I LOVE the new blog design!!

  7. I have several blazers and love the look, but have not really worn them very much. If, I mean WHEN, I get this new job, I plant to wear them a lot! 😉

  8. I love the color of those jeans, I need a pair just like them, yep I need, not want 🙂 Although my pocketbook needs a little rest after the NSale!

  9. What a great business casual look!! So chic and polished plus the bold pants add an element of fun!!
P.S. I tried to send an e-mail but not sure it was sent just wanted to let you know your new blog look is so fab and thanks for all of your inspiration Alison! Hope you are having a wonderful week:)

  10. I’m hoping to return to work soon Alison so will need to follow this series closely! I think this look will become a staple of mine too! Thank you as always for being a wonderful hostess! Ax

  11. Love this outfit, Alison! It all looks very pulled together, perfect for a casual office. I have a non-fashion related question for you. Are you using WordPress, and if so what theme do you use? I want to change up my blog a bit to make it a little cleaner. Thanks:)

  12. I wondered if skinny cut jeans were too much for a “work” outfit, but you prove that it is possible and definitely works. Great polished silhouette! Thanks for hosting!

  13. That is a great look for the office – and trendy at the same time, I love it.
Your new blog layout is fantastic, it is structured, userfriendly and I love the light colours!

  14. I totally love the jeans and blazer look, and the colored denim just dresses it up so much! I wish I could wear something besides my uniform to the office so I could wear this, but I think I could totally get away with it on the conference days I’m not presenting!
