SAHMonday: Pairing Up Neutrals

SAHMonday: Pairing Up Neutrals

Welcome to another edition of SAHMonday – outfit inspiration just for the stay at home and work from home moms of the world (like me!) who aren’t heading out of the house on Monday morning.  You can check out the other outfits in this series here.

These outfits are perfect for when you want to feel comfortable, yet put together, so that you can face the day and any errands you may need to run.  Plus, most of these outfit formulas can be pulled straight from your closet!

In the Neutral Zone – Beige Sweater and Gray Jeans

Ok, so this is a tad bit dressier than my typical SAHMonday outfit but I had a doctor appointment and lunch with girlfriends which called for a little “gussying up”.  And by gussied up I really just mean adding a necklace and heeled booties to my typical work from home look.  🙂

Pairing up neutrals is really a fool proof way of putting together an outfit, maybe that’s why I love them so much!  For this outfit, I paired a beige sweater with gray released hem jeans, a pendant necklace and some taupe peep toe booties. Super easy!

My sweater is sold out but this lightweight one and this cable knit are similar.  These are my exact gray jeggings. The necklace is an original from Chesley Mae.  Similar items are linked up below.

One-Stop Shop Featuring Target

One-Stop Shop Featuring Target

By Jessica Pigza

There’s something convenient about being able to walk into a store or click on a single website and put together a head to toe look, but sometimes it can be so overwhelming! That’s why I wanted to take some of the guesswork out of shopping by putting together multiple looks all from the same store and even showing different ways to style a single piece. It turned out to be harder than I thought as I walked through the women’s section at Target, taking in all the new clothes and trends they have to offer. I spent over three hours trying to coordinate an outfit or two, hoping that the clothes would look as good on me as they did on the rack. Some were epic fails while others turned into satisfying wins! So now I’m sharing what I consider my epic wins with you! Whether your order online or visit the store, these fall inspired outfit selections are sure to keep you cozy as the air finally begins to chill.

Cardigan + Embellished Tank + Color Jeans + Velvet Booties

Layers are great this time of year as you may encounter a vast array of weather conditions and varying temperatures all in a single day! By layering a blush cardigan over a tank top you’re able to keep the chill off, yet you won’t be sweating to death by the afternoon. The ivory embellished tank adds just the right amount of interest when paired with these high rise pink distressed jeans. Finish off with the look with these booties with the knotted detail. For a touch of sparkle and shine I added a statement necklace with coordinating earrings and a gold metallic handbag.

Hint: The ivory tank runs big so size down for a better fit!

If you don’t feel comfortable rocking the distressed color jeans or you’re not a fan of the higher waist, swap them out for a pair of dark wash denim jeans.

Cardigan + Printed Tank + Color Jeans + Velvet Flats

Another twist on this outfit is keeping the pink distressed jeans (or dark denim jeans if you prefer), adding a printed tank with tassels, removing the necklace and opting for a burgundy cardigan and burgundy velvet flats.

Little Black Dress + Cardigan + Velvet Wedges

This look provides a casual twist on the sophisticated little black dress by layering a blush pink cardigan and black velvet wedges.

Hint: This little black dress runs small so I had to go up a size for a good fit!

To amp up this look, take off the cardigan and add a clutch for a fun evening out or even an upcoming holiday party!

I Feel Pretty French Minimalist – Moto Jacket and Stripes

I Feel Pretty French Minimalist – Moto Jacket and Stripes

In Monday’s post I showed you two ways I’m pairing up my new black moto jacket.  One of those flat lays was completely inspired by the GYPO French Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe.  I’ve been dying to create one of those outfits but the missing piece to the puzzle was the right moto jacket – which is now all mine!

The date night flat lay outfit from that post is what I actually wore on a date that Craig and I went on last weekend.  We tried out a new restaurant called Sixty Vines and it became an instant favorite.  They had me at wine on tap and cheese boards – I can’t wait to go back!

Moto Jacket + Striped Top + Distressed Jeans + Ankle Boots

My exact moto jacket, ankle boots and accessories are linked up below.  My jeans are sold out but this also looks cute with my favorite super soft jeans.

Two Ways to Wear a Moto Jacket

Two Ways to Wear a Moto Jacket

I know today is supposed to be a SAHMonday outfit, but bear with me. I recently bought my very first black moto jacket and just couldn’t wait to share some ways to style it with you!  Plus (in my defense) the first outfit in this post would make a perfect stay at home look.

I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect black moto jacket for awhile which finding one was no easy task. This is my exact jacket I ended up going with because it didn’t have too many zippers, buttons or accoutrements. Even though I’ve always wanted to try this look, I also didn’t want to feel like a cast member of Grease while wearing it!

Naturally the very first thing I did was start to pair it up with pieces already in my closet to create some outfits. Here are a few of the looks I’ve come up with so far.

Here’s a bonus outfit idea from last Friday’s post. This is how I paired up my moto jacket with a gray tunic and leggings for the Bruno Mars concert.

What I Wore: Bruno Mars Concert

What I Wore: Bruno Mars Concert

I’m not even going to try to be cool about it, it’s kind of been an EPIC week. First off, my daughter Aubrey and I finished hell week at OrangeTheory Fitness and earned our t-shirts.  In order to get the shirt, you have to complete five of the extra grueling workouts during that week. A year ago I sat on the sidelines watching others finish and thinking I never could. I’ve pushed myself so much harder this past year and learned one thing – running NEVER gets easier.  Never.  Not for me. Yes, I run faster and longer and take less breaks, but easier? No. Your brain just gets better at enduring it.  So there, that’s my thoughts on that.  🙂  Here are Aubrey and I in our hard earned shirts.

I also got to see Jen Hatmaker speak last week and carve pumpkins with the girls but our Halloween highlight was watching Stranger Things 2! Even better than the first.

Then last Saturday night, Craig, the girls and I went to see Bruno Mars in Dallas. Needless to say, the show was AWESOME! He’s one of my favorite entertainers but honestly the best part was getting to experience our girls’ first concert with them.

This night was a long time coming – I bought the tickets as a surprise gift last Christmas and felt like it would never get here. Despite having 10 months to get ready for the big night, I still waited until the very last minute to decide what to wear.

So I ran out about an hour before the show and grabbed a gray cold shoulder tunic to pair up with leggings. Yes, I broke a cardinal rule and wore leggings as pants – GASP!  But it’s all good, the tunic was long enough and my favorite ponte leggings are super thick and hold everything in.

After I tried it on, I decided it needed one more thing to make it a little bit edgier so I ran out one more time and got this black moto jacket to complete out the outfit. Here’s my last minute look – you can never go wrong with black and gray!

My tunic is from TJ Maxx but I’ve linked up a few similar options below as well as exact links to my moto jacket, leggings, ankle boots and accessories.
