Five Ways to Wear Leopard Pieces

Five Ways to Wear Leopard Pieces

High fives and fist bumps all around! Leopard is one of the hottest trends for fall 2019 and this girl couldn’t be more excited. You know I’m a leopard lover from WAY back. Even though it’s never really gone out of style, this pattern is definitely having a moment right now. The biggest change for this season is we’re seeing even bolder ways to incorporate it into our outfits. But what are some ways to wear leopard print?

Over the past years of Outfit Formulas® we’ve styled our fair share of leopard accessories – from shoes to scarves, belts, bags and even jewelry. But this year’s leopard pieces are a lot more daring with all-over pattern appearing on tops, bottoms, dresses, coats and more.

If styling a piece of leopard like this feels a little too adventurous, check out these five ways to wear leopard print that you can pair up with some of your favorite closet staples to be totally on trend this fall.

1. Leopard Skirt or Pants + Chambray Shirt

Tuck your favorite chambray button down into a pencil, pleated or flare skirt. Not a skirt girl? No problem! Try a pair of leopard printed jeans or pants. Add a statement necklace and heeled sandals for an instant outfit!

2. Leopard Sweater or Sweatshirt + Ankle Jeans

Leopard sweaters and sweatshirts are honestly my favorite cozy way to add a printed piece to your wardrobe. Pair it with two closet staples – ankle jeans and a pair of taupe ankle booties.

Leopard Sweater / Layered Necklace / Ankle Jeans / Ankle Boots

3. Leopard Blouse + Ankle Pants or Skirt

So perfectly polished for the office! A leopard blouse begs to be paired with ankle pants or a pencil skirt in just about any solid color. A tassel necklace is all you need to finish it out!

4. Leopard Raincoat + Striped Top + Black Jeans

For a fun new twist on your typical rainwear, just add leopard! This spotted topper is perfectly patterned mixed with a striped top, black jeans and some red rain boots.

Leopard Raincoat / Striped Top / Tortoise Earrings / Skinny Jeans / Rain Boots

5. Leopard Coat + Black Dress

Remember – leopard IS a neutral. Swap out your typical camel or black wool coat for this printed pretty. Wear it over a black sweater dress with tall black boots for a dressier look that works for office to date night. Don’t forget – leopard and tortoise were practically made for each other! Add these tortoise accessories to amp up any of these looks.

Three Ways to Update Your Summer Work Wear

Three Ways to Update Your Summer Work Wear

Today’s post is a pretty big departure from my typical SAHMonday format but as summer descends upon us, I’m reminded of how hard it was to feel fashionable in the summers of my corporate days. It’s time to give our readers who work in an office a little love and some quick tips on how to update your summer work wear.

These three trends for summer 2018 will help your office outfits feel more fun and fashionable while still being totally work appropriate. These  outfits and trends are included in the Style Challenges Summer 2018 Work Wear Capsule Wardrobe which is now available.

Three Ways to Update Your Summer Work Wear

1. Just Add Tropical!

Even if you’re not holding a drink with an umbrella, you can still feel that tropical vibe while stuck behind your desk. Instead of your normal printed shell, add a fun tropical printed one.

2. Chambray Pants

Maybe your office has a no jeans policy but that doesn’t mean you can’t get away with a pair of easy, breezy chambray pants. This pair is structured enough to look dressy but relaxed enough to make you feel like you’re getting away with something!

3. Dash of Gingham

Gingham heels or flats are a great way to add pattern to your outfit. Black and white gingham also plays well with other patterns like florals, polka dots and stripes.

Pretty Fix December: Three Ways to Wear a Twist Front Sweater

Pretty Fix December: Three Ways to Wear a Twist Front Sweater

Hey pretties!  Happy December!  Let’s just pretend like this isn’t already the second week of the month and I didn’t forget to do the Pretty Fix, last week, ok?  Yep, it’s shaping up to be that kind of month!

If you’re new around here and wondering what the heck the Pretty Fix is, well it’s my pieces I pick for you to stay on trend every month. You can shop where you want (or shop your closet) to pair up an outfit.  The idea for it was born out of your dissatisfaction with the quality and price of some of the box styling services out there.  I give you the ideas, you set the budget and do the shopping!

This month’s Pretty Fix is like a normal fix on steroids because you’re getting three outfits instead of just one! When this twisted front cozy fleece sweater landed on my doorstep last week, I couldn’t resist putting together a few looks around it.  The good news is that every single piece (other than the sweater) is on the shopping list of the Winter 2017 GYPO Style Challenge – bonus, even more wear from those pieces!

This cozy lightweight fleece sweater comes in 18 different colors and no matter which one (or ones) you pick, you can still pair them up like I did in the three outfits below and it will totally work!  The color I’m wearing is called “Blue Ceramic”.

Sizing Tip:  This sweater runs a size big, I ordered an XS and it fits perfectly.

Outfit #1

Twist Front Cozy Fleece + Fur Scarf + Winter White Cords + Riding Boots

This outfit is what I wore to do some Christmas shopping recently.  It was a chilly day so I threw this velvet puffer vest on top to stay snuggly warm.

Outfit #2

Twist Front Cozy Fleece + Pendant Necklace + Velvet Pants + Leopard Booties

Let’s agree that teal and leopard were made for each other, right?  Add in some velvet jeans and this is totally holiday party appropriate!

Outfit #3

Twist Front Cozy Fleece + Agate Pendant Necklace + Gray Cords + Ankle Boots

If you’re looking for a great, wear everywhere, low heeled ankle boot, I highly recommend this pair.  Very comfortable and they go with everything too.

Two Ways to Wear a Moto Jacket

Two Ways to Wear a Moto Jacket

I know today is supposed to be a SAHMonday outfit, but bear with me. I recently bought my very first black moto jacket and just couldn’t wait to share some ways to style it with you!  Plus (in my defense) the first outfit in this post would make a perfect stay at home look.

I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect black moto jacket for awhile which finding one was no easy task. This is my exact jacket I ended up going with because it didn’t have too many zippers, buttons or accoutrements. Even though I’ve always wanted to try this look, I also didn’t want to feel like a cast member of Grease while wearing it!

Naturally the very first thing I did was start to pair it up with pieces already in my closet to create some outfits. Here are a few of the looks I’ve come up with so far.

Look #1 – Casual

Moto Jacket + White Tee + Olive Jeans + Sneakers

Look #2 – Date Night

Here’s a bonus outfit idea from last Friday’s post. This is how I paired up my moto jacket with a gray tunic and leggings for the Bruno Mars concert.

Pretty Fix November: Two Ways to Wear a Thankful Tee

Pretty Fix November: Two Ways to Wear a Thankful Tee

Hey pretties!  Can we all just agree that it’s been quite a year? Between bad news coming at us every day and our individual personal struggles, it can all just feel like too much. I’m not sure how you are all coping but I’ve found that starting and ending each day with gratitude for what’s right in my world helps dramatically.  No matter what’s going on, there’s always, always, always something to be thankful for.

What better time than November to practice radical gratitude! Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away and also my second favorite holiday of the year. We’ll be hosting our extended family for dinner so I’m already thinking about some comfortable, easy outfits that will allow me to take care of hostessing duties while still looking put together.

Today’s post features two ways to wear a thankful graphic tee. In all fairness, the only thing that’s changing in these two looks is I swapped the plaid shirt for a long cardigan and added my favorite statement necklace. The base pieces in both outfits are my new thankful tee  and my favorite super soft frayed hem jeans.  Note:  I’m wearing the women’s fit in this tee.  It runs a bit small so you may want to order up a size.

UPDATE!  My Thankful tee has sold out but you can shop some other cute options HERE.

Outfit #1

Plaid Shirt + Thankful Tee + Frayed Hem Jeans + Ankle Boots

I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect pair of gray ankle booties for close to a year.  This pair is really comfortable and I love the little cut outs on the side. They will look cute with some patterned socks peeking out in colder weather.

Outfit #2

Long Cardigan + Thankful Tee + Statement NecklaceFrayed Hem Jeans + Ankle Boots

In this outfit, this statement necklace is really the star of the show, it keeps selling out and restocking so you may want to check out this one or this one if you can’t get this exact necklace.  It was on the shopping list for the Fall 2017 GYPO Style Challenge and Work Wear Capsule Wardrobe. It’s gotten a lot of wear so far this fall and will into the holiday season too!

Now, on to this month’s Pretty Fix!  If you’re new around here, the Pretty Fix is my list of five pieces you can add to your wardrobe each month – all without breaking the bank.  Shop my picks or shop your closet to create this month’s outfit.

Pretty Fix – November 2017

1. Plaid Shirt

Trust me, you’re going to want a red plaid shirt in your closet for fall and winter.  It’s so easy to layer over and under other pieces in your closet. I recently bought this one and love how soft and drapey it is. Don’t worry, if red plaid isn’t your thing there are plenty of other pretty plaid options.  Shopping Options:  1/2/3

2. Thankful Tee

A thankful tee is a great reminder that’s just perfect for November. If you order this tee, you’ll want to go up a size as it runs small (I’m wearing the women’s fit). Shopping options:  1/2/3

3. Long Cardigan

This beige long cardigan is just the right weight and it goes with just about everything. It’s a year round classic basic. Shopping options:  1/2/3

4. Frayed Hem Jeans

You’re probably tired of hearing me rave about these super soft frayed hem jeans. But how can I not? They are truly the pair I reach for most often in my closet. Shopping Options:  1/2/3

5. Ankle Boots

These gray ankle boots are the result of a nearly year long search for the perfect pair! I love the charcoal gray, it goes with everything. Shopping options:  1/2/3

Here’s another super cute take on this look. Instead of a plaid shirt, pair a plaid scarf with this 3/4 sleeve thankful shirt.
