Pretty Fix: The March 2017 List

Spring 2017 trends have been a hot topic around GYPO lately.  On Monday, I covered the controversial “neck scarf” and today I’m tackling the next biggest topic – the bomber jacket.

This is another polarizing trend you either love or hate.  Either way, I’ve gotten a lot of requests lately for how to wear a bomber jacket and what to pair it up with.

To that I answer, pair it up as simply as possible.  A floral bomber jacket transforms your t-shirt and jeans into something special while also adding lightweight warmth to your spring outfit.  As your friend, I need to advise you that the bomber jacket can be kind of tricky.  It’s one where you really should try it on to find the right one.  Many of them are too stiff, bulky, shiny or short for my liking.  My favorites are made of thinner fabric that are neither cropped or long.  This is a personal preference thing though so don’t give up if you don’t find one you love right away!

This month’s Pretty Fix is perfect for this time of the year.  It features a floral bomber jacket, plain white tee, light wash skinny jeans and two other spring trends – lace up flats and a choker.

If you’re new around here, the Pretty Fix is a monthly feature with five budget-friendly recommendations for staying on trend.  The idea for it was born out of frustration some of you have had with box styling services. The Pretty Fix allows you to shop for the pieces at your favorite stores so it’s budget and quality conscious.  Of course, I always recommend that you shop your closet first!

Here’s your March 2017 Pretty Fix.

Pretty Fix – March 2017

1. Floral Bomber Jacket

Bomber jackets are a huge spring trend, especially in fun prints, patterns and textures.  This floral one is lightweight enough for warmer days but is also great for layering.  Try it with a basic white t-shirt under it. If this is a trend you’re planning to skip, try a blush moto jacket or a floral kimono instead. Here are some other options:  1/2/3

2. White V-neck Tee

A good white v-neck tee is a closet staple. When you find one you love, stock up!  For something new try this spring’s twist front tee trend.  Shopping options:  1/2/3

3. Wrap Choker Necklace

Hello, 90’s (and 70’s), the choker is back for another go-round.  Try one in a simple black wrap.  If this trend is too far out of your comfort zone, swap it out for a long pendant necklace. Here are some shopping options:  1/2/3

4. Light Wash Jeggings

Another throwback look that’s in for spring is light wash denim.  Try it with frayed hems to be totally on trend. Here are some options:  1/2/3

5. Lace Up Flats

These lace up flats end up on my feet at least twice a week.  There’s a good reason for that, they’re super comfy and they go with just about everything!  The lace up flat trend is one that will be around for awhile.  Additional options:  1/2/3

It’s Your Turn:  Do you love the bomber jacket trend?  If not, try it with a floral kimono instead!

  1. Jaymie Ashcraft

I’m forever on the hunt for a great white tee! Loving those shoes!!

  2. Amy Johnson

You are right in saying finding the right bomber jacket is difficult. I searched long and hard before I found one I liked. I chose a solid color shiny one as florals would be too much for me. Great inspiration outfit.

  3. Laura

I’ve been so on the fence about the bomber jacket, but I love your styling idea! And the floral bomber jacket in particular is really cute!

    • Alison @ Get Your Pretty On

I think there are a lot of women on the fence too Laura. You could definitely pull off the floral bomber jacket and look amazing as ever! 🙂

  4. jess

Love your styling of the bomber jacket, I am not sure if I am a fan, perhaps a thin one with a print. I like the one you chose, but shorter. Also love the kimono, pretty colors!
    have a great week!

    • Alison @ Get Your Pretty On

I don’t think you are alone. I think there are quite a few who aren’t big fans of the bomber jacket. The kimono is a pretty choice if you are on the fence. Thanks Jess!

  5. Lisa Richardson

I’m still not sure about the whole bomber jacket thing…it takes me a while to come around sometimes. I like the look of the kimono…so pretty!

    • Alison @ Get Your Pretty On

They might not be for everyone, but maybe if you look for one, you will find one that speaks to you Lisa. 🙂

  6. Lana L.

I just bought a floral bomber jacket – they remind me of my high school days! Love how you styled this one.

  7. Sarah Bell

I’m all on-board with these trends…especially the choker and lace-up flats!!! I love wearing both of those :). Great round-up 🙂

    Trendy & Tidy

  8. Shelley

I love the bomber jacket, but I’m not too fond of it with the floral print. I think I’m going to get a light pink/neutral one that I can wear with more things. The choker trend just makes me laugh; I graduated high school in the late 90’s, and we wore plenty of choker necklaces with our short dresses and thick-heeled shoes. At least it’s a really inexpensive add-on!

    • Alison @ Get Your Pretty On

Yes the trends keep coming back. 🙂 I hope you find a bomber jacket that you love! Happy shopping!
