Remember this post last Friday where I said I hadn’t worn denim shorts since 1995 (then showed you said awful shorts)? Well, I guess you could say that I’m making up for lost time. I bought these denim boyfriend shorts last week at Old Navy and have already worked them into the rotation more times than I want to admit.
This is the simple look I created with them to participate in Amber’s Real Girl Style Challenge on Friday. I hope you’ll join the link up and show us your cut offs too!

Lately I’ve been playing the comparison game and that never ends well. Sometimes when I visit other blogs and see the impossibly cute outfits they put together, I wonder why anyone wants to see what I wear.
At the heart of it, I’m a t-shirt and jeans (or tank top and shorts) kind of girl. I’m mostly unadorned, I don’t accessorize much, I’m a minimalist. I don’t own clutches to match every outfit and I have a few pairs of shoes that I love and wear with almost every outfit. I rarely dress up, although I love to once in awhile.
I’m a mom and I dress like one. I dress for my daily activities and schedule. Some days the highlight of my day is a trip to Target, if I’m lucky.
And this is a real outfit that I wear on those days.

This past weekend, my husband and I celebrated a pretty special date – the anniversary of our first date!
We met 21 years ago on a blind date. No, that’s not a typo and yes, there used to be such a thing as blind dates. For you youngsters of the social media age, there was actually a time in life where you could go out with someone without already knowing what they looked like.
OK, enough with the history lesson, back to the story.
My neighbor and his best friend had been dating. They asked the two of us to come along with them one night to hang out. I didn’t really want to go but had nothing better to do. My hubby didn’t want to go either. But as fate would have it, we did and we totally hit it off.
The weird thing is, even though the evening went well, (we even kissed at the end of the night. I was NOT a casual kisser so this was a big deal for me!), he thought I wasn’t interested. I thought he wasn’t either because it took two full days for him to call.
When he finally did, we started going out and I’d like to say the rest is history, because it kind of is. Although, we did break up for five years before getting back together and getting married. But that’s another story for another day. (The short version is we were two teenagers with a little growing up to do.) 🙂
All I know is it is clear that God made us for each other and we were meant to be from that very first date, 21 years ago.
Here’s a dressier shorts look that I wore out to dinner on our date-iversary over the weekend.

Now to explain the “foxy” reference in the post title. No, I don’t think I’m looking hot in my shorts or anything. I’m feeling pretty foxy because of these pretty gold earrings from Foxy Originals.

Seven pieces for seven days! Yes, it’s entirely possible. Today’s the big reveal of my seven pieces and how I paired them up to create a week’s worth of outfits.
The Pieces
1. Chambray/2. White Tee/3. Wedges/4. Striped Tee/5. Coral Jeans/6. White Capri Jeans/7. Red Shorts
The Pairings

1. White Capris + Striped Tee

2. Coral Jeans + White Tee

3. White Capris + Chambray

4. Coral Jeans + Chambray + Striped Tee

5. Red Shorts + White Tee + Chambray

6. White Jeans + White Tee

7. Red Shorts + Striped Tee

The Takeaway’s
1. Accessories are a girl’s best friend. They can take even the most basic outfit (white on white) and turn it into something really special.
2. When you run out of outfit ideas, ask your kids. They are more creative anyway. My girls helped style every one of these outfits!
3. Pick neutral shoes with a little bit of interest. The cobalt blue on my wedges was a nice touch in each outfit.
4. My closet is WAY more versatile than I thought. I discovered new ways to wear my old basics and even created some new favorite outfits.
5. I’ll be packing much lighter for our beach vacation next month!
