Remember my favorite popover tunic that I couldn’t get enough of this spring? Well it’s back for summer! I spied it in store last week in this bright Caribbean blue and just couldn’t help myself. This top has already proven it’s versatility in the spring – it looks great with skinny jeans and white capris and now it’s making it’s debut with shorts too. It’s such a great buy that you’re going to want more than one color. One word of purchasing advice, get it in a size bigger than you normally wear and don’t put it in the dryer. It runs a little on the small side and shrinks if dried.
Don’t you think it just asks to be paired up with this necklace and some metallic sandals? It’s a simple beachy look that’s just perfect for vacation.
It’s the day of the week at GYPO where we celebrate what makes us feel pretty. Whether it’s a new outfit, hairstyle, or makeup, the I Feel Pretty link up is about anything and everything that makes your life prettier. Even if you’re not a blogger, you can still play along. Just tell us what made you feel pretty this week in the comments!
I had a different post scheduled today but on Monday I posted a photo from my son’s graduation that ended up creating quite a buzz around the dress I wore. You wanted to know where I got it and how I paired it up.
It’s a black sheath faux wrap dress from Tahari that I picked up on clearance for a steal. It was love at first sight. Bad fashion blogger that I am (I never really claimed to be a good one), I didn’t even get any full-length pictures of what I wore. So I tried my best to recreate the whole outfit from the night – black dress, coral accessories, leopard heels and a color block purse. Unfortunately, I can’t link up my exact dress but here’s a very similar one that’s definitely not so budget-friendly.
Tahari dresses fit me amazingly well, every time. The styles are so classic and are my go-to for special occasions. So when they go on sale, I try to add a new one to my collection. Here are some other Tahari styles that I love.
My sister Andrea, Devon, my sister Heather and me.
Our proud family posing with the graduate.
Just for fun, here’s a little throwback to my graduation year. I’m not sure which is more impressive, the ginormous sleeves or the even bigger hair. Hmm, maybe I didn’t always have such good taste in dresses!

Summer style should be as effortless as possible. Can I get an “amen”? Effortless summer style doesn’t have to mean a daily summer uniform of tank tops, shorts and flip flops. While that’s an easy outfit formula, it doesn’t exactly qualify as style. 🙂
The good news is that it’s entirely possible to step up your summer style game while retaining some kind of comfort and ease. You just have to have the right pieces and know how to wear them.
Yesterday I hosted my first ever tele-seminar and style Q&A where I shared my Five Summer Essentials for Effortless Style. It was so much fun to chat live with some of the women who I’ve gotten to know through the style challenges. Thanks to those of you who brought great questions to the call!

Five Summer Wardrobe Essentials for Effortless Style
1. Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are one of my favorite summer style pieces because they’re cool and comfortable and define effortless style. Just add metallic sandals and a fedora and you have an instant outfit that’s perfect for anything!
A fedora adds a fun touch to all of your summer outfits. Even if you’re not a hat wearer, almost everyone looks good in a fedora style. Try it with a simple tank top and shorts to kick up your style a notch.
Accessorizing can be tricky in the summer months. I try to keep it as unfussy as possible by adding a long necklace to my maxi dresses, t-shirts and tank tops. Or try a neutral pair of statement earrings to dress up all of your casual looks.
Printed shorts are the item I’ve added most to my closet this season. They add interest to plain t-shirts and tank tops and look great with a pair of neutral wedges. Try mixing patterns by pairing them floral patterns, polka dots or stripes on top.

I love introducing you to brands that make life easier while at the same time making it prettier and today I get to do just that. My Bijoux Box was founded on this principle, to provide a place of inspiration and adorn your daily life with a little sparkle and style.
My Bijoux Box reflects so many of the same values that Get Your Pretty On is all about. They’re more than just an online jewelry retailer, they provide an easy way for women to look and feel better every day. Andrea Bernholtz, a new mom and the founding partner and president of Rock & Republic jeans, co-founded the company with Chad Kladstrup to create a collection that can easily be worn in everyday life. You can read more about their story of friendship and success here.
Andrea sums up the My Bijoux Box philosophy beautifully.
I want women to look as good as they feel in an instant. Fashion should not be contrived, it should be fun and accessible. No matter what your lifestyle, you are and need to be the best reflection of you. If throwing on a great necklace over a t-shirt and freshening up your lipstick is all that you have time for, then you better make sure you have these things at your fingertips.” – Andrea Bernholtz, Founder, My Bijoux Box
Their curated collection has the ability to transform any outfit into something special – from everyday stud earrings and pendants to statement necklaces and bangles, each piece is designed with easy style in mind.
One of my favorite pieces from their collection is the Friendship Knot necklace. It effortlessly adds a little interest to every outfit.

Do you know the #1 thing that moms REALLY want for Mother’s Day? According to this article, it’s pretty simple. We just want a day off!
Can I get an amen?
I couldn’t agree more. Don’t bother with gifts, I just want an entire day to relax with my whole family without any household chores weighing me down.
Oh and I also want to spend time together as a family. As the kids get older and we are all pulled in different directions, we don’t get nearly enough family time. So, listen up family, here’s how I want my Mother’s Day to go down. 🙂
My Perfect Mother’s Day
Sleep in until 8:00 a.m.
Have coffee on the patio with my hubby.
Get dressed in a cute, comfy outfit.
Go to church.
Have a nice brunch on the patio of my favorite Mexican restaurant with ALL THREE kids present
Take the dog for a walk or go on a family bike ride.
Grill out that evening and have dinner on the patio (clearly I like patios!)
Relax the rest of the evening and NOT worry about laundry, lunches or backpacks for the week ahead!
Ahh, perfection!
I want my outfit for Mother’s Day to be as easy as the day I have planned so it will be this combo of a comfortable maxi dress, denim jacket and sandals. This is one of my favorite easy outfit formulas. The mint and navy Aztec print maxi from Cavender’s is perfect for topping with a denim jacket and pairing with metallic sandals.
Cavender’s is giving one lucky pretty mama a $250 gift card. You can get a lot of maxi dresses with that! All you have to do is tell me what one thing your perfect Mother’s Day would include and enter in the Rafflecopter below. Good luck!
The Summer Style Me Pretty Challenge will be announced in the coming weeks. This one is going to be perfect for a summer vacation wardrobe. If you’d like to be one of the first to find out when registration opens, get on the list HERE!

I am so glad I was part of the Fall 2019 Style Challenge. It gave me confidence and so many great outfitt ideas. The ladies in the group were very supportive and I will defintetly be doing another challenge in the future.

I’ve been participating in the GYPO Style Challenges for three years now and I’ve loved it. I’ve always loved clothes, but I didn’t know how to put outfits together. My closet is now full of mix-and-match outfits, I have learned how to dress myself, and there is no more stress in figuring out to wear. The private FB group is full of wonderful ladies that build each other up. It’s so fun and is seriously the best group on FB.

Get Your Pretty On has changed my life, seriously. I have always chased what is trendy but found from season to season, that things go out of style and I was wasting money on items that I would only end up wearing a few times. GYPO has enabled me to simplify my closet, helps me make smarter purchasing decisions, and I feel so put together and confident using the outfit formulas that are provided. This program is a GAME CHANGER. I've been following GYPO for a few years now and my only regret is not jumping on board sooner.

Great community of ladies, helping each other look stylish, without breaking the bank, and using much of what you already own.

GYPO challenges have been one of the best things I have done! It had taught me so much more than just creating a closet of clothes that I love but also to have confidence in myself, how to pick and choose colors that work for me instead of against, and had given a wonderful community of Pretties who are so special.
