Bright lips are everywhere this spring. I hate to admit it but I’ve been kind of dragging my feet on this trend. After all, I was a 90’s girl when dark lipsticks were all the rage. Those colors must have traumatized me because I’ve been a pink and beige glossy girl ever since.
But I’m on board with the trend now and absolutely love it. The three big lipstick trends for spring are bright red, pink and orange. Here are some of my faves in each.
And yes, these are some of the higher end brands, but I believe every woman deserves a little luxury and lipstick is an affordable way to get it!

That’s right, it’s Southfork Ranch, the mythical home of the Dallas TV series, both the original and the reboot.
Ironically Southfork Ranch isn’t even in Dallas. It’s in a small town called Parker, about 25 miles north of downtown Dallas and two miles from where I live.
What does Southfork Ranch have to do with today’s outfit? Nothing. But it was fun to hang out and take some photos there.

It seems like mint skinny jeans are popping up everywhere this spring. It’s no wonder why. Mint is a fresh new neutral that goes with just about anything.
If you saw my patio post last week, you already caught a sneak peek of this outfit. It’s one of my absolute favorite casual outfits of the moment. I may have even worn it twice last week, but who’s counting? 🙂
This outfit starts with a very basic base – a white tee and colored denim. Add a cardigan, some wedges and a few accessories and you instantly have a polished, put together look that works for just about anything.

My two favorite spots in my house aren’t even in the house. They’re our outdoor living spaces – the front porch and back patio.
When we built our home five years ago, my first priority was having a front porch, which is a little uncommon in the Dallas ‘burbs. I grew up in the northeast and have great memories of spending many summer days on the front porch swing. So, of course, I had to have one of those too.
While I love our front porch, we also wanted a more private space for hanging out and entertaining. To accomplish that, we recently had a large covered patio built. It’s expanded our living space by essentially becoming another room. I spend many hours out there on nice days, reading, watching the kids play and yes, sometimes napping. 🙂
The patio is still a work in progress but it’s starting to come together (I’ll post pics of the completed project when it’s done).
Patio Decorating Tip: Choose neutral furniture so that the accent pieces – pillows, throws, rugs, planters and accessories – can be changed out on a whim. Changing up the accents is an affordable way to give the space a whole new look.
